Last time someone said this was in Unbecoming, now i will take the chance to say this again: "To all doctors of Rhodes Island, *Welcome to the Starset Society* "
There are 3 constellations that draw attention in the video, and that have a direct connection with the lyrics of the song! 0:01 - Ophiucuhs (Serpentarius) 0:07 - Virgo 2:31 - Hercules Ophiucus - '' The snake bearer '' is the tale of Asclepius, son of the sun god: Apollo with a mortal, who found a wounded snake that was completely healed by another snake that brought special herbs into its mouth, using these herbs, Asclepius was able to cure not only severe illnesses, but he could also revive the dead, becoming a great healer. Hades, the god of the underworld was enraged as he was directly disrupting his work and telling the situation to Zeus, the God of the Gods and the sky. Zeus then struck a lightning bolt at Asclepius killing him, and at Apollo's request, an image of him ascended to the heavens. Virgo - There are several tales about the constellation, but the most famous is that of Dike, the Goddess of justice, daughter of Zeus and Themis, the Goddess of order and law, has been in charge of taking care of justice in humanity since the golden age, however when the silver age arrived and humans started to abandon their customs and traditions, Dike warned them that it would bring chaos and a great evil to everyone, but they did not hear it, so Dike moved away to the mountains to isolate herself. When the era of bronze and iron arrived and humans were already lost in countless wars, Dike abandoned humanity for good and ascended to the heavens. Other tales also related are those of Persephone, Demeter and among others ... Hercules - Son of Zeus with the mortal Alcmene, as soon as he was a baby, Zeus carried him to the breast of Hera who was asleep, and after drinking her milk he became immortal, but Hera was furious about it, and since she couldn't kill Hercules, she decided to curse him, so when he was already an adult, Hera enchanted him and made him kill his wife and children, after he was free of the curse and desperate he asked Apollo for help, who gave him 12 tasks, better known as 12 heroic labors, and as soon as he completed, he would be forgiven and free. After completing his missions, Hercules fell in love with Deianira and got married, years later when they were both going to cross a river, a centaur named Nessus appeared and said he would help carry Deianira on his back, but when Hercules was already on the other side, Nessus tried to abuse Deianira, Hercules then used an arrow poisoned with Hydra's blood and killed Nessus, before he died, Nessus told Deianira that he had blood with the power to make anyone fall in love, and that she should keep it if something bad about Hercules was suspect. After rescuing a princess named Iole and having a party, Deianira, afraid that Hercules would fall in love with the woman, enchanted a shirt with the blood of Nessus and gave it to Hercules to wear, the poison cursed his body, rotting it with the time. Hercules then climbed up to Mount Etna, where he burned his mortal body and his immortal essence ascended to Olympus, Zeus honored Hercules by placing his image in the skies. 0:57 - 1:01 - This passage refers to the story of Asclepius, because once he left, there is no more salvation. 1:19 - 1:34 - This excerpt refers to the story of Dike, for having warned humans of a great danger that was approaching, but they did not hear and then she left. 2:11 - 2:31 - This passage can be a little confusing, but I believe it is linked to the story of Hercules, at the time when Nessus tried to abuse her, and he used his infected arrow to kill him, and by the thirst of chaos from Hera. and also on the screen the constellation of Hercules is shown directly. Conclusion: An unknown virus spread by the humanoid, great voices would have said that this danger was approaching, but they could not prevent it, infecting everyone, and secretly in the end, maybe it is someone's bigger plan for the thirst for chaos. Well, but it's my opinion! Thank you if you read this far, it took a bit of work to do, and sorry if it is a strange or uncertain writing, I am a young Brazilian girl still learning English! I've been following these guys since they released Transmissions. I finally got to see them in concert at Charlotte, NC with my dad when Divisions came out. He passed away a few months ago. This band has always been there to comfort me. Thank you for all of your beautiful music.
Nah... Monster is definitely better suit for Doctor. This music have a lot implication of storytelling a bunch of people, who exactly? The infected, and peoples within a conflicts because of it. Sounds like telling about present times wich is better suits for Amiya's theme as leader of rhodes island... Or king of fiend. There's a theory saying that Doctor is presenting the past, Amiya is presenting the present time and then Kal'sit who is presenting the future.
Hey now. Transformers and LP were only 14 years ago. But man were they great. Still not bad for Starset. Also recommend the song Enough by Ra with Dustin. Good song and album.
It’s always great to hear more Starset, especially considering the somewhat mythical status Infected has garnered for itself. At the same time, I can sort of understand why this was cut from Divisions, it doesn’t seem quite up to the same standard as the rest of that album. It’ll probably grow on me (they always do) but my initial takeaway is rather lukewarm. Still am extremely stoked to finally have it though, don’t get me wrong.
This was a single they did for a mobile game called arknights. Hince why the lead singer said "this is not a starset song". Its supposed to reflect the lore of the world of arknights in a way if im not mistaken
Starset came along right when I was so devastated Chester Bennington from LP died, and I’ve kinda replaced that emptiness listening to these guys. I simply love their music.
The same happened to me! I was finally legal age the summer we had to say goodbye to Chester and was stoked to see him live....well.... Now, 4 years later I could imagine myself seeing Starset live, but yea, that will take time until it's possible again
Bless Starset & Arknights for bringing this masterpiece. FYI, this music is used for official arknights 2nd Anniversary secret PV (which broadcasted last saturday) , hence the incoming Arknights fans. Please be understanding of us...
This isn't my type of music. Didn't even know who they were before last weekend. They played locally in a small city opening for Breaking Benjamin. So this opening band that I've never heard of put on an act that left me with goosebumps, hell they have such an amazing stage presence that they were better than BB! You guys just earned a lifetime fan, can't wait to see yall again!
Starset has built a bit of a reputation on being underestimated. They've been opening for BB pretty consistently since their debut back in 2014 and I've read so many comments like yours. Their stage presence is ridiculous, only band I've ever seen top them live was Disturbed. I'm happy to see new people enter the Starset Society, it's really one of the warmest fanbases I've ever experienced.
Just a friendly Doktah dropping by here after the JP Arknights Livestream just a moment ago. Wanted to say thanks to Starset for the spicy kickass Collab. It's quite awesome to have a crossover between two communities that I thoroughly enjoy. Love the music and the atmosphere it creates, as well as the story it tells. As always: Cheers everyone! ^_^
@@bronzeoof4395 Thanks fellow Doktah! May you likewise have the best of luck, Gacha-related or otherwise. This applies to everyone else as well. Thank you all for the kind words. ^_^
This song is a masterpiece, but not just because the song itself is amazing. No, the meanings behind it, there are so many and they're all so... Pertinent to the world as it is today. Think about it. A song called Infected, where the overall message seems to be about a corrupt society, panic and reaping what we sow. Look at the world around you, just about everything is either actively happening, already happened, or predicted to happen soon. This isn't just a song. It's a philosophical question, a social commentary, and so much more. It is the song of the decade.
this is released for the mobile game Arknights, where one of it's themes are the infected within it's world. Although, I'm not saying that what you said isn't possible
@@neinwanwan7060 I've heard of the game but know nothing about it. I feel like it being for the game doesn't exclude it from having deeper meanings like the ones I suggested here, tho. If anything it just adds another layer and makes the song more meaningful and impactful.
I've known starset for quite a few years now, my first song of them being "my demons". They just got me into Arknights since yesterday. I first didn't like it when I saw it on release, not a fan of gacha games, but I really appreciate the way Arknights solved the endless struggle of waleing vs F2P. But the real reason why I play it is for it's huge story.
The exact reason why i stay with the game for 2 year. The plot is decent. For a fantasy sci-fi with magic, its strangely realistic. And the world building is huge for a anime mobile gacha game story. What other game include a total 18 fictional country in their story and the game also include and explain the geopolitics of those countries which make the arknights world feel more realistic
Dustin really said, "Let's have the calmest anarchy in the worlds." Edit: Should've expected this to get political. I just wanted to point out something funny.
The only way to scape progressive corporative socialism. Fuck ecofascism, feminazism, black identitarism and covinazism; for the same reasons I despise racism against the black people, imposition of conservative values, obscurantism and religion totalitarianism, gay discrimination, etc etc. Also fuck state intervention, market artifitial concentration (because of state privileges given) and the ones behind everything: Gates, Bezos, Soros, etc.
Vaya. Aún después de tanto tiempo, starset se siente fresco y más vivo que nunca. Un tema bastante diferente a lo que nos tenía acostumbrados, oficialmente starset no puede crear mala música
I'm seeing a lot of comments here about a crossover with Arknights, and about this being a cut track from Divisions. But here me out for a sec: If this song came out 2 years ago, and it was thrown in an album? I'd think "Heck yeah! Just another part of Starset's dystopian fiction. Awesome!!" But, uh..... Am I the only one who hears a venting song about the pandemic in these lyrics?? Somehow, that makes it *even more badass* with that connection. Starset has always had a theme of "we are messengers of a terrible future, and these are our survivor's anthems!" - But this isn't the battles between CVR and TSS. This is our own battles, our survival, and our story. This song is *our transmission* to the past world, telling the tale of our trials we've fought together.
I hadn't heard about this being a cut song from the division. Lowkey has to have been reworked though for arknights, given how blatant the lyrics are in allusion to that games lore.
I believe Dustin talked about how he felt it couldn't be released at that time because of the pandemic because it hit too close to home. I agree with you though. It does feel like a vent (I was screaming about that myself when I first heard it).
In Arknights, there are a group of people infected with Oripathy, identified as "The Infected" These groups of people have, in fear, lost their basic human rights and have been subjected to discrimination and hate crimes The job of Rhodes Island, which is your character's faction, is to fight for Infected Rights and cure the disease.
Yes! I've been looking for this ever since Hypergyrph showed the PV during the Arknights' 2nd anniversary livestream. Twice did HG used Starset's songs as their trailer's OST and now they even managed to collaborate with the band for this masterpiece. We did not come here because it was simply due to a mobile game or due to the awesomeness of Starset. We are all here united for the great music.
I got the honor of hearing you guys sing this live for the first time! You guys sound amazing live! Thanks for standing in for theory during the labor day shinedown concert! Who knew theory canceling would of been a good thing!!

With the lore bomb now dropped, this is basically the Doctor's theme song.
Monster is pre amnesia doc's theme. Infected is Doc's post amnesia

YES A NEW ALBUM, MORE MUSIC!!!!
From my understanding its not a new album, Infected was suppose to be released for DIVISIONS but was push to support a game called Arknights.
It really grew on me after the third listen.
it probably didnt fit the theme of DIVISIONS is my guess
It's a quality song, but hard agree. I feel it has a lot of potential that just stayed flat. No real dynamic/timbre change.
I've heard some say that this was removed because Divisions was too long. Not sure if that's true though

YES A NEW STARSET SONG!!! Glad to have Notifications on for a change 😅

I'm seeing a lot of comments here about a crossover with Arknights, and about this being a cut track from Divisions. But here me out for a sec:
If this song came out 2 years ago, and it was thrown in an album? I'd think "Heck yeah! Just another part of Starset's dystopian fiction. Awesome!!"
But, uh.....
Because in the arknights lore, there is a "virus" sorta thing and we are currently In a pandemic. That's why its similar
Dude, where are 400k likes on your comment? Wtf?
I hadn't heard about this being a cut song from the division. Lowkey has to have been reworked though for arknights, given how blatant the lyrics are in allusion to that games lore.
I believe Dustin talked about how he felt it couldn't be released at that time because of the pandemic because it hit too close to home. I agree with you though. It does feel like a vent (I was screaming about that myself when I first heard it).
