Almost every major imaginative franchise has been hijacked and modified by vindictive dorks who's parents told them everything they did was great.
These people are in management and "creative" positions in every single industry you can think of because gutless employers are afraid to be sued for discrimination.
It's why every modern game feels like a copy of another boring one, every movie feels like it's pampering someone's ego and every drive through window frames someone with blue hair, a bullring and standard issue tattoos.
They all share a trait, you'll notice.
When confronted with valid, warranted criticism, it's NEVER their fault. It's YOURS.

@@ChaseBuesking There is a difference between a character that provides comic relief and a joke character. Dan Hibiki from the Street Fighter series is an example of a joke character. Paul Phoenix from Tekken 6 onwards is an example of a character that was turned into a joke after a certain point in the series (in this case from Tekken 6 and onwards). Johhny Cage was never a joke character. He was a character that provided some comedic relief, but then from MK11 and onwards they turned him into a joke character. It also doesn't help that everyone else gets these cool fatalities and brutalities and then half of Johnny Cage's fatalities and brutalities are lame joke finishers. And the 4th wall breaking stuff is completely immersion breaking. NRS had such a hard on to make a Marvel game they are turning the MK characters into Marvel characters essentially. You can't look at MK11 and MK1 Johnny Cage and tell me Ed Boon doesn't desperately want to make a Dead Pool game.

Dragonball is an obvious homage to Journey to the West but is still very much its own thing.
The obvious reason why is that they want a recognisable IP that their story/politics can attach to like a parasite.

The ‘95 movie took some liberties with the lore but stuck close enough too it. Until recently that movie was considered the best video game adaptation to film. Rightfully so, that movie is still awesome and far better than anything else made since.

It's nice NRS tries to get inspired from Big Trouble In Little China. Problem is : in Little China you really have the feel the actors are martial artists, fight to kill. There's the feel, the intensity you would get from watching a J.C.V.D movie or a Bruce Lee movie. In MK you feel like you are watching stage actors playing a character. They feel like Chinese actors playing a Shakespeare stage play. Boring crap without an once of intensity.
I pray this doesn't come out in the movies...they don't need to lose more $...just bring it straight to Netflix and other local apps etc
The violence made the games but good writing needed to make the movie. The writer cant just rely on gore for the movies. You need a proper story and proper characters that expand and are true to mk franchise like the 95 movie.

This is not the only Mortal Kombat Movie soon to come out we are getting a fifth Legends animated movie called Mortal Kombat legends the fall of Edenia staring Kitana as the main character and features Sindel,Jade,Rain, and Tanya it's scheduled to release later in 2024

I somewhat liked first 2021 movie. Sure, it was not perfect but I enjoyed it to a degree. And my biggest problem with it is in the fact that it lack proper action scenes. Like actual fighting scenes like in many action movies. And yeah, I agree that arcana thing was stupid. Because, in games characters had their abilities because they either was related to some of their ancestors who had those godly abilities, or they learned those magic abilities in some ways. And so yeah, seen this arcana thing that gives the movie character a certain ability is just stupid. It felt like a Power Rangers movie and not MK movie with that arcana crap. But yeah, if this second movie fails then there will be no coming back from this. As a fan of Mortal Kombat since very first game, I will judge it for myself very roughly. And if I don't like it then that's it. It will be a massive flop for me. But let's just wait and see. Sure, my expectations are low for the second movie but still, I wanna see what they gonna do with it this time. This LAST time.

For me the best and same time the closest to the real game atmosphere movie is the Konquest tv series with Daniel Bernhard and Kristana Looken. I don't like no one any other MK movie.
