Tom, kan ni inte snälla spela in en studioversion av eran tolkning av Maiden's Wasted Years?
Såg er framföra den akustiskt på Sweden Rock för typ 10-12 år sedan och det var ren magi.

Love this interview! I saw Evergrey on their U.S. tour in 2019 at a small venue. All the guys in the band came out after the show to talk to fans, take pictures, and just hang out. Great group of guys!

I've seen many, many bands playing live. Literally thousands. Evergrey rank right up there as absolutely top tier. No gimmicks. No eleborate stage sets or pyro. Just a band that are mindblowingly good at playing live music. You *have* to go and see them.

Found Evergrey many years ago, bought one album "In Search Of The Truth", I had to get all their albums right away, so I ordered, from Evergrey, and months went by with nothing. I got upset and complained, and sure enough Tom Engund sent me a e-mail back, WOW, and said they are going into reprinting cd's soon, and shortly I received their back catalogue. What a class act.

Man the part of "Why are you so angry?" lol. I have the same feeling, the people used to think metal is just angry but for me metal is a lot of things, happy, sad, exciting, relaxing and angry as well.

I've been friends with him on facebook for the past several years and we've had some great conversations. I have never gotten the chance to meet him in person, but I hope to do so on the next Evergrey tour. I have already preordered the new album on that super sexy vinyl, so I am very excited to listen to it. Great interview Tech! Keep it up!

Great interview! Thank you. One thing that I also noticed during the interview of Floor with Tom and you mentioned it here - the need of listening to such kind of music instead of happy pop songs or any mainstream music. Specially Evergrey has had cathartic effect on me. Although their music (in general) is not intended to be happy or about happy subjects, to me it gives some hope. Perhaps it comes from the fact that I find myself (and this makes me whole) when I introspect and look within, rather than going out and having parties and this is what I get from Evergrey. Sort of introverting impulse.

  • @Qirronis

I remember, back in maybe 94’ or 95’... when Tom used to work at the MUG music store in GBG, I answered an ad to audition to sing for then unknown Evergrey. Tom gave me a tape to listen to, and I wasn’t ”feeling” the Music I heard so I returned the tape and said “it wasn’t for me”. When they “blew up” I noted “huh, he ended up singing himself, cool”.
Ironically I LOVE Evergrey now. 🤦🏻😅

Also. If you just want to go to GBG in your heart for a little sweet 4-minute “vacation” watch and listen to this bittersweet video of Maia Hirasawa’s song “Gothenburg”. You’ll enjoy it, I’m 99% sure: ruclips.net/video/KG64DmsSQH4/видео.html

I can't imagine how exciting it must be to get such chance to speak with someone whose work you enjoy so much, especially with your intro still so fresh... Going forward, please consider letting your guests speak a bit more? You are clearly informed about them, knowledgeable of their world, and you have an easy, non-fawning conversational style, all of which makes you a great host, who could be mindful of letting the talk ratio be a bit more in the guests' favor? That observation aside, this video is an awesome addition to the series, hope to see many more!

Loved this interview, regarding music and how it could help, I have to say that everytime I am having a bad time music helped me through it. And not a particular song, it seems that the fitting song for the circumstances just finds me. For example when I had a longterm relationship came to an end I did not handle it very good. And after some time „poet and the pendulum“ „found“ me, I knew the song but it helped me emensly. I know what the song is about but for some strange reason, it helped. And now with all this pandemic, it is other music. Without music live is not fun.

GREAT INTERVIEW. It must have been so cool to recently discover the band, and before you know it, you are talking to the great man himself!! Im curious mate, about yer thoughts on their other albums you might have since listened to. What did you think? Id love to hear your thoughts on some of their older albums and how they have evolved as a band over time. Their dark, gothic tinged dramatic shades that wove into albums like Solitude..., In search of Truth are amazing. And the riffs that run though other later songs like "Ambassador" and "More than Ever" just NEED to be heard by any metal fan.

If you are interested in seeing and listening to a very typical local band, watch this band Reenact ruclips.net/video/1eXuiuM0uxI/видео.html . @@TankTheTech I was also thinking about it, but as you say its not a traditional interview. Its not only about the artist, its also about your journey in music and compering your experiences on the road wit the experiences of the artist. So in a way, its more about you, just like then you are doing a reaction video. Since its not only the artist talking, the interview needs to be longer, so the artist gets to talk as much as a normal interview.

    • @TankTheTech
      @TankTheTech  3 года назад +8

There are so many variables with the way that I do this and go into it mentally.
      1) I’ve also been in the music industry, so we often share experiences and know exactly the same references we’re talking about.
      2) These artists get asked the same questions from media so often that I try and steer away from them. I try and drive the conversation to bring up random thoughts that they may want to get into or extrapolate on.
      3) Artists also have scheduling and time constraints. He was on his 8th hour of interviews this day and I didn’t want to keep him too long.
