A two hour talk between Tank and Tom? 😍 Am I dreaming? 😍

"No, let's set it on fire!" The musician in me weeps while the pyromaniac in me cackles. Tom seems like the kind of guy I'd love to hang out with

Spinal Tap was a documentary about 80s tours, I saw those insane things so many times. This interview was brilliant, especially the second half, brought back so many memories for me. Enjoyed it so much

Delighted seeing more deserved coverage of Evergrey. A definite contender for one of Rocks most underrated bands, and the latest dark melodic masterwork is another righteous reason for their excellence. Dark, powerful, bursting with emotion and life. I love all their albums , be it the latter years worth of music, or their more gothic laden, atmospheric metal of their early years. This was brilliant back and forth banter.

I’m really looking forward to this one. Evergrey is one of the best bands out there.

I would love to see a sort of "Ranking the Albums" with the band on this channel! Id like Tank's words on how their last few albums differ and have evolved from how their early albums sounded. I cant decide which one is my favorite myself, as it differs a lot. But seeing that Tank is quite new to the band, Id love to hear his journey through their back catalogue.

It's so great your podcast took off as quickly as it did! It's so refreshing to hear artists talk about whatever topic comes up with you.
I loved hearing about tour stuff, I'm very curious about what happens when bands are on tour. It's a side we, fans, don't see very often, unless the bands put some behind the scenes footage on their DVDs or RUclips channels.
Live music was already a special moment before the pandemic, but it felt even more special on the few shows I managed to go to last month. It felt like home and I had missed it so much. I can't even imagine what the bands currently touring are feeling, maybe what I felt multiplyed by 100 or something!
My schedule for the end of the year is packed with shows, it's gonna be so great! Gonna see Evergrey for the first time, can't wait!
Keep the podcasts coming, they are so great!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm also slightly jealous that you get to see Evergrey, because I haven't seen them yet either. Haha

That was very enjoyable - I kind of felt like I was eavesdropping on a conversation between old friends.
My interactions with Tom have been similar in nature - he's very down-to-earth (as are the whole band)
    Thanks for this, Tank!

Amazing conversation with the one and only Tom. Man...What a musician. About the emotions on playing guitarr and composing, Magnus Karlsson is one of a hell king too. If you don´t know him, check it out. He is the composer of many projects like Allen/Lande, Last Tribe, his solo project Freefall, Allen/Olzon. Also he is in Primal Fear since a few years. I recommend so much the 3 first Allen/Lande albums, cause the last one was composed by Timo Tolkki and it´s not so good in my opinion. Magnus´s way to express emotion on his songs is just mindblowing. It catch almost same emotions as when I listen to Evergrey.

The stories from the road are the best! I always wanted to become an audio technician (knowing that as a musician any band of mine would never get anywhere) just to be in that environment with those people, or on the road.... I tried to adapt to 9-5's or the so called "normal life" and that's just ruined something inside me. There's not much more in life that really interests me or motivate me to keep going than Music and anything related to it.
Thanks for the interview. Tom is one of kind person and musician! Such an amazing inspiration.

Hey Ian, do you think as a result of the pandemic we will start seeing metal bands hit non-traditional markets while touring? I live on the far east coast of Canada and the closest the vast majority of bands get is Quebec City or Montreal, which isn't feasible to take a few days off work, drive for the better part of a day, hotel etc. If the bands do start hitting smaller markets, it will increase exposure, generate more sales etc. Like Halifax is a fantastic city - a short drive for multiple Canadian provinces and US north eastern states. Seems stupid to not tour a place like that. I have noticed a fair amount of bands not booking Toronto dates, opting for Quebec and Montreal and some smaller Toronto suburbs which I find fascinating as I'm originally from Toronto and T.O. and Vancouver were always staple cities for touring stops.
Sidenote: when Tom was telling of Rickard getting on CoBs tour bus that was likely their 2004 tour. Evergrey opened in support of The Inner Circle, CoB was in the support slot touring for Hate Crew Deathroll and Iced Earth was headlining in support of The Glorious Burden (and they had a killer lineup - Ripper Owens, Richard Christy, Ralph Santolla, James Macdonough, Jon Schaffer. Saw them at The Kool Haus in Toronto on that tour. Got to chat with a very high (weed) and drunk Tom after the show. Great night, AMAZING show, excellent bands supporting classic albums.

There are so many factors that go into booking tours that I really couldn't give you an accurate answer. It's all based on availability, markets for bands, and a ton of other stuff. While it would be awesome to see some of these bands in smaller markets, it just may not be doable for them.
