This is a great idea and I'm always looking for ways to save money. I have hot water baseboard heating in my house. Is this a suitable type of boiler to run this fuel in?

I have a John Deere 1120 tractor and I live in South Africa where I never go below say 8*C. Do you think I would be able to run it on straight old engine oil? (They were made between 1967 and 1973). I am also wanting to run a generator for my farm, (as electricity supply here is pretty dismal) - would an old straight 4 diesel engine from the 80's, like a VW Gold 1500, be able to run on straight old oil, or even an old Lister generator? Many thanks.
