Mr. O'Connor and I are from the same hometown, Danville, Illinois! As well as Dick and Jerry VanDyke, Gene Hackman, Bobby Short, and Astronaut, Joe Tanner!

In my mind and heart, Donald O'Connor will always be the best of the best, all around. He was a timeless treasure, and took a back seat to no one. He was the greatest entertainer, and all around performer by all accounts. I wish I could have met him, he was a kind and beautiful soul. I also believe he was robbed of a lifetime achievement award. Never understood it.

My mother was a musician in vaudeville and with all women orchestras. She talked about knowing Donald as a little boy when he preformed with his parents and was always after the women to play Monopoly with him. She thought he was lonely but sounds like he used what he'd learned for a long time career. I always liked him when he was in a movie.

I always thought Donald O'Connor was so underrated as an actor, I think he was more talented than Mickey Rooney, what a great insight into this very talented man. I didn't know he suffered so many losses (personal) in his life. Thank you for uploading this remarkable story of a very nice, gentle soul. Regards from WA.

Just watched Singing in the Rain last night. A good movie. Don't particularly care for Gene Kelly and thought DO outdanced him. Her was a gentleman and when approached to say something negative about Marilyn he refused.

It's hard to believe some many bad and tragic things could happen to such a good and amazingly talent guy. One of my most favourite actors in the whole world and I suspect he was for many people.

His second wife was Gloria Noble. They had 3 children. Donald predeceased her. She died in 2013.

    SEE ?
A.O.V. does not only do 'they were ALL "that" way!'
    No way!
    The reason here?
Very simple: Where Donald O. is concerned = no smoke and ergo, very likely no fire!
Also, no innuendo too, such that I've ever heard of.
This case is not the case with very many others, as we've viewed on A.O.V.!
Our favorite entertainers' entertainments should, so I suggest, exist as separate from their private existences, that resultantly having exactly zero negative or positive impact on them.
Their secondarily private lives for any done speculating-upon, also remaining as separate but distinct (if possible to achieve in cases) and relevant (if achieved) on the personal-interest level. Why not I ask, if given the first as rigorously accepted and maintained?
I enjoy like crazy A.O.V.'s style of delivery and subtle humor-sense.

I don't agree at all that Donald O'Connor was more talented than Mickey Rooney. I enjoyed both of them and never really tried to compare them before. Mickey Rooney was superb in any kind of production all of His life. The one thing he did I thought was totally beneath him was the part he had in the night at the museum film. He must have needed the money😅
