- Legendary stars of the 1952 classic "Singin' in the Rain" perform their signature song from that classic MGM musical as GMA's David Hartman interviews about their careers.
About a year after this interview, I had the great privilege of seeing their show in Milwaukee WI. They gave a great show and were fantastic together. After the show I had the unique opportunity to meet each of them backstage to chat and get their autographs. They were both so gracious and the epitome of class.
I want to tell you that Donald was every bit as good of a dancer as Gene Kelly or Astiaire..the problem with him was his baby face
Two real professionals.
I'm glad these two remained very close through the years. I think they would have made an adorable couple
It is very sad to watch this, however, and realize what is to come.
@@trhansen3244qhat was about to come?
We no longer have entertainers on this level of greatness. They knew what their job was and were perfectionists at achieving what was expected. Old Hollywood was dedicated to their industry and, the public who appreciated and made them famous.
Two class acts that will be go on forever. ❤️🇨🇦
I remember watching this! I think was 15 then and had seen Singin' in the Rain and loved it.
Both from the golden age of Hollywood.Such talent and class God rest their souls
Great to see these two wonderful people together again ❤️
Donna and Debbie were professional singers and they worked together really well. I have already enjoyed their performances. They were true performers as true friends.
They should have made a part 2, there was so much more to say and do.
Two fantastic entertainers real Superstars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
She had great timing!
Brought a smile to my face 😊
This brought me so much joy... thank you for uploading 😊
Thank you so much for posting this clip. Made my evening.
Two very great talents that were RIGHT UP THERE❗with the immortal Fred Astaire and the great and charming Gene Kelly.
Hollywood at it best --- 1930's - 1960's.
Thanks for this beautiful upload. Great to see the lovely Debbie Reynolds unite with her Singing in the rain co-star, Donald O'Connor. Debbie was a star who looked like she would never age and, even at 84, just before she passed away in 2016, she looked fantastic. Donald, back in the 50's always carried that little-boy look. But, age has certainly caught up with him in this video and those tell-tale signs are patently visible in and around his eyes. Still, it's always a tremendous pleasure to see any video that features our dear Debbie, who was and will always be considered as "Hollywood Royalty"!
Crime it had to end. Lovely clip. Thank You!
Wikipedia: David Downs Hartman (born May 19, 1935) is an American journalist and media host who began his media career as an actor. He currently anchors and hosts documentary programs on History and PBS. Hartman is best known as the first host of ABC's Good Morning America, from 1975 to 1987. As an actor, he starred in the 1970s as a young resident, Dr. Paul Hunter, on The Bold Ones: The New Doctors and as a teacher in the series Lucas Tanner. He acted in the 1973 TV movie remake of Miracle on 34th Street.
don debbie humour priceless.
Classic entertainers from the Golden Era of Hollywood. We will never see their likes again. Sad! Did they cut the film clips here of them dancing as they were way too short! Can't imagine Good Morning America had them that short when this was live TV.
This is right before O'Connor had a facelift. Gone were the heavy lids, the rather tired face -- a result of years of heavy drinking (which he recovered from). So as trivial as it sounds, his refreshed face matched the energy he still had in the rest of his body.
After that solo routine he did, doing flips off the walls and going through another and so on, in Singing in the Rain, I'd take up drinking lol
So I guess people who don't have face lifts aren't worth talking too? How shallow you are sunshine.
Good Morning
Good Morning
We've talked the whole night through
Good Morning
Good Morning to you
Good Morning
Good Morning
It's great to stay up late
Good Morning
Good Morning to you
When the band began to play the stars were shinging bright
Now the milkman's on his way
and it's too late to say good night
So, Good Morning
Good Morning
Sun beams will soon smile through
Good Morning
Good Morning to you and you and you and you
Good Morning
Good Morning
We've gabbed the whole night through
Good Morning
Good Morning to you
Nothing could be grander than to be in Louisiana
In the morning
In the morning
It's great to stay up late
Good Morning
Good Morning to you
I'd be as yippe if it wasn't Mississippi
When we left the movie show the future wasn't bright
But came the dawn the show goes on
and I don't want to say good night
So say good morning
Good Morning
Rainbows are shining through
Good Morning
Good Morning
Bonjour

Buenos Días
Muchas Frías
Bongiorno
Montichorno
Gutten Morgen
Blakich Morgen
Good Morning to you
Wow amazing
In an alternate universe there must exist "Terms of Endearment" with the exact same cast and sets and scenes - except Aurora Greenway is played by Debbie Reynolds.
Wouldn't that be fantastic.
Hartman reminds me of Dan Dailey...a bit.
This was the same year Ted Turner bought MGM and with it *Singin’ in the Rain.*
I only know O’Connor in an episode of Tales from the Crypt.
Amazing dancer and performer.

As a kid growing up and seeing their films I always thought they'd have been the best Holywood couple. But, destinies map their own plans. Personally Eddie was way below Don on a 1 to 10 card
Including Debbie Reynolds, for years everyone has been saying she never danced before dong Singing in the Rain. Hogwash. at age 18, with Carleton Carpenter, she danced in 1950 in the movie Two Weeks With Love in a song called Row, Row Row, and did a fine job, it did Not look easy. Why does she perpetuate this lie? it was not several songs and not as complicated as Gene Kelly had her do, but it WAS dancing and fabulous. Did she have the brain drain or something? Don't believe nme? Go check it out for yourself.
