  • Roddy Kentish, one of the nine people put on trial in the landmark mangrove case, speaking in 1982 about their arrest and subsequent trial. After the trial, Roddy fought for decent housing conditions in North Kensington, played a key role in the establishment of the Notting Hill children’s carnival, and set up a project to train young people in a trade. Roddy passed away in June 2019.

    The joke is the British government recruited black ppl from the West Indies, promising great jobs and prospects then the police, supported by the judiciary, dished out prejudice on a scale that is indeed criminal. I was a young teenager back then and the police could literally do as they pleased.
