Love that you guys go out as a family. I bought my first Jeep, a Gladiator, earlier this year and now my boys want their own so we can wheel together. Jeeps, off-roading, overlanding, and family…can’t ask for much more. Glad your son returned home safe. Semper Fi!
Thanks to both you and your son for your service! Love the Channel, love seeing you all get out in the amazing nature we're surrounded by, and looking forward to all the other trips you have in store for us!
As a dad who raised two Boy Scouts in So Cal I LOVE Idyllwild…home of Camp Emerson… the oldest scout camp west of the Mississippi. Such a great little mountain town. I’ve spent many years up there for Cub Scout & Boy Scout events. Great vid as always 👍
Great to see you getting to spend time with your son and wife on this gorgeous trail. I have to get out and see Black Mountain Trail, it is just about 2 1/2 hours east of me in Newport Beach, CA. Thanks for the preview!
i Just love your misses jeep... the 2 doors is not over done and perfect, and i see your son is just like his Dad , nice one Brad....been a big fan for some time , Nice to see the family out together doing what ya love !!!
The major networks couldn't produce higher quality videos and definitely couldn't make them as interesting. Brad you deserve all the success you enjoy with your channel.
Regina is right, the 2door is perfect as it is and absolutely doesn’t need more lift and bigger tires to run most trails. I have a 3 inch metalcloak lift and 35’s on my 2 door JL and have never needed more than that.
Love to see Regina out wheeling her yellow Jeep!!! I am also glad to see you incorporating her in more of your content, it sure helps in getting the wife to consider trying some of this!!!
As I scroll through RUclips looking for something to watch I realize everyone over edits their videos. Yours are perfect and I can really just feel the vibe and remember my trips in California. Honestly you don’t need to upgrade any of your camera or recording gear. Content is great
Hey Brad, Great video as always. Glad to see Jordan made it home safe from deployment. I spent a lot of time in that area as my grandfather homesteaded over the hills from there in Anza in the late 40’s. If you go south to Garner valley and head up the mountain on Devils ladder you can go up the Thomas mountain and over the top and down the other side into Batista canyon in anza valley. One year a friend took us up there in the snow in a 72 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 and when we got to the top , we heard an old engine chugging up from the other side. It was my grandpa and grandma in my grandpa’s 1924 Chevy touring car coming up to the top. All bundled up with blankets over there legs with no heater. At the junction of Hwy 371 in the valley, you can go up Santa Rosa mountain, at the top is a log cabin my grand dad use to deer hunt out of in the 1930’s. On the east side of the valley is coyote canyon, that use to be a pretty technical trail. That went all the way down to berreigo springs . We use to run that on bikes and buggies, grandpa would run that in an old international scout 80 powered by a Chevy 327, and carry the coolers and fuel for everyone. Always a family affair. Glad to see you, your son and Ms. Regina out enjoying what the lord provides for us to enjoy in our hobby. Semper fi.
Man you are fast. I see on your GPS that you were on the trail on Friday then the video is out on Saturday. Quick editing. Beautiful area. Thanks for sharing.
Brad, I know some PCT thru hikers and it usually takes 6-7 months. The Fuller Ridge trailhead is just above where you showed and the Fuller Ridge Trail is part of the PCT.
That yellow jeep is super sweet! I would definitely consider getting one except I ordered my 2022 last night in stingray grey. Oh well maybe next jeep.
My backyard amazing video Jordan thank you for your service. Our Jeep will be back on the trail soon. The fire lookout is a cool place to hike to. Stay safe
Glad to see Jordan is back !!! Seems just like last month he was headed out for their cruise, Out of the 6 years I did in the Corps I think the best part was spending it out at sea LOL !!! And those Greek Quesadillas looked yummy !!! The Sierra's never fail to give spectacular views that is probably the only thing I really miss about California. Semper Fi Doc !!!
@@ursulavantongeren6653 From the TrailRecon channel's main page on RUclips, there's a navigation menu underneath the picture and "Community" is the fourth one. :)
Lots of fond memories of that road. Usually drove it up to the trailhead for the Fuller Ridge Trail and either camped there or backpacked up Fuller Ridge and continued to Little Round Valley camp and then to the top.
Awesome video brad/ Regina/Jordan,,it is such a gorgeous area there, your Jeep looks really great brad but man I love Regina’s 2 door, good stuff guy’s welcome home Jordan,,,, as always be safe 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Lol you don’t do hiking! You hike up and down those trails all day to give us some great content! Thank you for all you do. Love all your videos. You were up in our back yard in this one. We haven’t done this trail yet but it’s on the list now.
Near the end of Black Mountain Rd, there used to be a YMCA camp called Camp Lackey. I spent several summers up there. The bussed us up in full sized school buses, it took around 90 minutes or so to do the 12 miles. Some of the turns required Austin Powers style 12 pt. turns to get through it. The camp was closed years ago and what was left of it burned to the ground in one of the fires that occurred in the area. I guessing the road was a little better maintained back then.
PCT takes longer then 3 months. It's 2650 miles of smiles! I hiked the full length of it last year. I have some video of that very same lookout! Brought back some amazing memories!
Off topic, but I saw your old Gladiator 2 weeks ago up at Santas Village in Lake Arrowhead. Talked to the guy briefly who bought it from you, he's taking care of it - great looking rig!
Hi Brad I’m a big fan of your videos. I really loved this particular video and just amazed how beautiful that silver Jeep transformation came out. Keep up the good work!
Hey Brad, thanks for this video! Our group of weekend off roaders were just on this trail two weekends ago. As one of the more experienced off roaders, I was so busy watching out for others in the group, I didn't get to enjoy the scenery as much as I'd liked, until we stopped. Your video gave me a great look at the road we traveled and some of the scenery I missed. Again, thanks and stay safe out there.
Know all those “run-ahead, then wait-for-me” drive by shots must’ve added hours to your trip. Thanks for doing them. They made it easy for us to appreciate that easy trail & simple quality time with your family…
Great Video! I spent a weekend on this trail a few weeks back and it was amazing. Good camping and beautiful views! I originally found this trail off of one of your Instagram stories and looked all over SoCal for a trail that looked like the one you were on! Haha. Keep it up!
Another cool road if you not tried is Nate Harrison Grade. Pauma Valley to Palomar Mountain. Born and raised SD left Valley Center for Idaho 2008. Thanks for showing the old stomping grounds.
What an awesome trail and family adventure. The JK sure is flexi now. After some serious contemplating we will upgrade to a long arm kit too on our JKU.
Bought my first jeep 3 years ago. 4 jeeps later I have my crawler and now my daughters have their TJ we are building! I have the same shocks and ended up getting the skid plates for the back shocks, I have hit them a time or two!
Nice video and fun trip - it is now on my bucket list. Idea for a future video - multi-day trip from Black Mountain to White Mountain. Would take you from the mountains in SoCal to the Bristlecone Pine forests in Mono County. White Mountain is a 14,252' peak, higher than Pike's Peak, and you can drive to the top on a dirt road. Bring a few cans of oxygen, just in case. Keep up the good work - love your videos, stories and videography.
While sitting on my Zamboni, resurfacing the ice rink prepping for curling tonight, I was watching this video. When Regina and Jordan were talking I said the same thing at the same time as Jordan. “Your what?” It sounded like she said “dad’s putting my steps on next” or as Jordan and I heard it “dad’s putting my stepson next.” 😂🤣😂 I thought it was the cold of the ice rink and the noise of the Zamboni but when Jordan asked quickly “your what?!” I knew I wasn’t hearing things. 🤣😂🤣
What steps are you putting on Regina's 2-door? I installed the Rockslide Engineering and my wife and kids absolutely love them. My 6-yo son would get a dirt stripe across his thighs every morning when I had nerf-bar steps. Welcome home Jordan!
Nice area , I love hiking Idyllwild although normally I park at the nature center and hike out from there . Sadly I am currently living in the land of rain (Washington) but it's not that bad (I keep telling myself) although I do miss living in the land of no rain (San Diego) having spent my first 62 years there . I can't say I've done any off road driving up there , most of mine was spent somewhere between Alpine and Campo or down in the deserts although if you know El Cajon at all I lived across La Cresta Rd from Shadow mountain and back then there were no avacado trees at all in those hills so my backyard was huge .
Brad, huge fan of your channel. I live in Idyllwild and get to enjoy all the trails here. You should give Rouse Ridge a shot. It's open in the winter for snow wheeling with some great camp sites. Just grabbed a new PowerWagon recently as well and I'm looking forward to seeing more PowerWagon content.

I appreciate that!
Thank you and you son for your service because of people like you guys is why we can enjoy Jeeping and scenery like this. Land of freedom.
Awesomeness!! That Greek Quesadilla looks bomb!!!
Regina, I agree, stick with the 35s you got on the 2-door. 35s on a 2-door is the equivalent of 37s on a 4-door. More than good enough.
Thanks for the trail ideas. Never knew that one was there. Gonna have to check it out.
Thank you for your service Jordan 🇺🇸 Enjoy the day with your family.
Both Jeeps looking great.
