  • This is the moment that Ali Millar decided to leave the religious group that had defined her entire life. Her book, The Last Days, is out now: amzn.to/3Of5bZe
Ali Millar is waiting for Armageddon. Born into the Jehovah's Witnesses in a town in the Scottish Borders, her childhood revolves around regular meetings in the Kingdom Hall, where she is haunted by vivid images of the Second Coming, her mind populated by the bodies that will litter the earth upon Jehovah's return.
In this frightening, cloistered world Ali grows older. As she does, she starts to question the ways of the Witnesses, and their control over the most intimate aspects of her life. As she marries and has a daughter within the religion, she finds herself pulled deeper and deeper into its dark undertow, her mind tormented by one question: is it possible to escape the life you are born into?
A tale of love and darkness, of faith and absolution, The Last Days is an unforgettable memoir of one woman's courageous journey to freedom.

I was a witness for 12 years and ive only in the past 6 months or so have "woken up" and it was earth shattering to see everything you believe in shatter... They say that there is no happiness without them... just recently I was promoted to a practice supervisor of a urgent care clinic.. new town, new home, with a well paying job, with more happiness than I ever had with them... looks like they were wrong

Even though you lose your family, friends, and security leaving the JW organization, it’s all worth it. When I began to wake up around the time they changed the “generation that will never pass away” teaching to make the “overlapping generation” teaching, I knew it meant losing my whole support network, and starting from scratch with 2 small children.
It took me a couple of years to dismantle a large enough part of my childhood indoctrination and find a safe way out.
A little more than a decade later, observing my kind, well-rounded, *worldly* children and comparing them to their dejected, angry, and paranoid JW cousins…
I am absolutely confident I made the right decision.

I thought about it for weeks and decided that since they have changed and omitted many passages that there was nothing holy about the JW Bible. Tossed my 3 copies in the trash. I do still have the Bible that belonged to my mother, which I gave to her decades before we joined the cult, along with a King James Bible that is in Spanish and English, that a friend left to me when she died. Mozartz Q Of whom was Jesus Christ "the faithful and true witness"? By his birth into the nation to whom the words of Isaiah 43:10-12 are directed, Jesus Christ was obligated to be a witness of Jehovah. He lived up to this obligation, for all the written record as to what he said and as to all the Hebrew scriptures that he quoted proves that he was Jehovah's Witness. If the question were today directed to Jesus Christ, of which God are a witness? He would reply: Of Jehovah! He was still is in heaven the "Faithful and True Witness" of his God and Father." ----Rev. 1:5, 6. AS

So much that us Ex’s have to go through when leaving the organization ( cult) Our stories are all similar. I’ve been out 26 years now & I can tell you, as hard as the shunning is, it’s worth it! I now look at the shunning as a blessing.. it gave me time to deprogram, navigate the outside world & get a grasp as to who I really am.. without them trying to pull me back in! Even though I lost 4 generations of family, I gained so much more. It gets better & better as time goes by 😊

I want the newly exiting ones to know it’s very difficult at first, but gets better with time. Hopefully, it helps them to know others have succeeded & if they need help exiting, us Ex’s can be of help. That’s why I expose watchtower. So let me explain shunning…I have 4 generations of JW family that hasn’t spoken to me in 26 years, only because I decided to leave their religion. (I didn’t commit a sin, & still love God.) The shunning “follows me for the rest of my life”.. I will never know who has passed away, ( they won’t notify me) who has gotten married, who has given birth, never invited to a family reunion, I have nieces & nephews that won’t be told I ever existed, when I see family or friends in a store, they turn & walk away, they didn’t call or even send a card when my husband passed away, I came close to dying from Covid & none of them called to check on me, there’s no support system from them, no one to call in an emergency. Watchtower wants the shunning to remind me of what I lost! It’s a very high price to pay with severe consequences! We Ex’s can move on, but there will ALWAYS be that constant reminder. It took me years to look at it as a blessing. I went through anger, bitterness, ect, but finally got to the other side. They are told that shunning is the only way to bring the unbeliever back, but the reality is, it has forced me not to care.. they have become complete strangers to me, of their own accord. Sad but true. BTW.. over the years, I sent loving letters, photos all to be returned in unopened.

Satan has long used apostates in his efforts to seduce God’s servants. (Matthew 13:36-39) Apostates may claim to worship Jehovah and to believe the Bible, but they reject the visible part of his organization. Some even return to the God-dishonoring doctrines of “Babylon the Great,” the world empire of false religion. (Revelation 17:5; 2 Peter 2:19-22) Under divine inspiration, the Bible writers used strong words to expose the motives and the methods of apostates. What is it that apostates want? Most are not content to leave the faith that they once perhaps viewed as true. Often, they want to take others with them. Rather than going out and making their own disciples, many apostates seek to “draw away the disciples [that is, Christ’s disciples] after themselves.” (Acts 20:29, 30) Regarding false teachers, the apostle Paul sounded this urgent warning: “Look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry you off as his prey.” (Colossians 2:8) Does that not describe what many apostates try to do? Like a kidnapper who carries an unsuspecting victim away from his family, apostates prey upon trusting members of the congregation, seeking to carry them away from the flock. During this final part of the last days, it is to be expected that Satan will continue to launch an avalanche of lies and deceptions. Thankfully, Jehovah has not left us in the dark regarding Satan’s deceptive tactics. The Bible and the Bible-based publications of “the faithful and discreet slave” clearly expose the Devil’s evil methods. (Matthew 24:45) Being forewarned, we are forearmed.-2 Corinthians 2:11.

I know we all SUFFER and have hard times in life and ask JEHOVA GOD help me why are you not helping me and when will you stop all of this

I relate to a lot of what you stated. After I got out I had no personality. I had no idea how to have fun as the cult takes all that out of you and you don't even realize it. Thank you for sharing. It is important to let others know. Many times it keeps people out of the cult as they find out what they won't know until they are baptized and the cult has them where they want them. I have seen several who dropped Bible studies and some who quit before they made the fatal mistake of getting baptized.

I was born in JW of the 1980s and I have been out since 2010. The childhood thoughts fear about the End and feeling like you would be destroyed at Armageddon so real, I would always question if I was good enough or bad. I didn't realize that dread I always felt was anxiety ! No child should have those kinds of thoughts, it's abusive. We did miss out on a lot as JW teens and I had a lot of doubts before waking up and walking away. The terror of losing family is also very real. I was afraid I'd lose my mom when I told her I no longer believed and I wasn't going back to meetings ever again, this was in my late 20s. Thankfully she loves me unconditionally, which is so rare for JW parents and we still have a close relationship, we just don't discuss religion. The actual True happiness I have found outside of the cult is beyond what they are trying to sell you whilst in it! I will never go back to that life ever because I am in the driver's seat of my life.

My daughter-in-law was raised in the religion. She left about 7yrs ago. Her entire family turned their back on her. She was just beginning to rebuild her relationship with her father, when he died suddenly, a few months ago. Her parents were divorced, but still actively practiced that faith. She saw her mother and sisters for the first time in all those years, at the memorial service for her father. Her mother was able to see her 19mo old granddaughter for the first time, and probably the only time becuz things have gone right back to the way they were. The way they turn their backs on anyone that leaves that religion, is a major reason why that religion is so hated by a lot of people. I try to take up the slack of her mother. I feel so bad for her with what she lost after leaving that religion, but she did what is best for her.

21  He said, “Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to humanity, and mercy from Us. It is a matter already decided.'”
22  So she conceived him, and withdrew with him to a remote place.
23  The labor-pains drove her to the trunk of the palm-tree. She said, “I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten.”

26  “So eat, and drink, and be cheerful. And if you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious-so I will not speak to any human today.'”
27  Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have done something terrible.

31  And He made me a blessing wherever I may be, and has enjoined on me prayer and charity, so long as I live.

Google child sexual abuse hidden in the JW organization. Research flip flopping JW dogma like shunning they bashed the Catholic Church for shunning. Then they adopted shunning basically so you could not listen to people who leave the organization and why.

Congratulations and welcome to real life ❤️ I was a JW for 30 years and I'm only just learning about the real twisted history of the religion. So called "apostate" material is actually just old watchtowers and books that they would rather forget, all written while supposedly being chosen by God and influenced by holy spirit! 🙃

For decades they keep saying :
We are inspired by the Holy spirit
We write the publications under the Holy spirit command.and on and on
But in February 2017 WT magazine
      confirm:
We are not inspired by the spirit of GOD
      I felt very desapointe
Because I take it .like somebody got the right to play with my personal feelings???
What kind of joke is this???
The Thrud is in the Bible
      Just Fallow the scriptures pray
To Jehovah ,thru our great king, Lord of the Lords CRIST.
Pray for the Holy spirit Gladly God will give it to you.
      Why?? That's what Crist said.
      Pary for the Holy spirit.
And the Father will give you
      For what.? ??
For you and I to understand the scriptures.

29  So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to an infant in the crib?”
30  He said, “I am the servant of Allah. He gave me the Scripture, and He made me a prophet.
31  And He made me a blessing wherever I may be, and has enjoined on me prayer and charity, so long as I live.

33  And Peace is upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the Day I get resurrected alive.”
34  That is Jesus son of Mary-the Word of Truth about which they doubt.
35  It is not for Allah to have a child-glory be to Him. When He decides on an issue, He says to it, “Be,” and it is.
36  “Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path.”
37  But the various factions differed among themselves. So woe to those who disbelieve from the scene of a tremendous Day.
38  Listen to them, and watch for them, on the Day when they come to Us. But the wrongdoers today are completely lost.
39  And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the issue will be concluded. And they are in negligence, and they do not believe.
40  It is We who will inherit the earth and whatsoever is on it. And to Us, they will be returned.

Almost, without fail, if it was the first, nice, sunshiny day of spring you can almost bet your doorbell would be ringing at some point of the day. JW *in service* season had commenced.... The proverbial thorn in the sides of most non JW individuals. I turned them away, but I was never rude to them. I actually felt sorry for them. These poor, brainwashed, souls, were out trying to save mine, by regurgitating something they honestly believed in... I looked at them as somewhat a marriage of Amish and Puritans; They shared credo's, beliefs, and methodologies, of both. Preaching a cocktail religion, contrived in the 1800's.

Outwitting a JW is like shooting fish in a barrel. I’m so glad all the commenters here got out of that destructive cult. I especially feel bad for those who were raised in it. Pure child abuse.

The difference between cults and pastors is, Pastors teach the Bible. They do not control the people. When you leave when the sermon is over you go home and do what you want. What you do is between you and God. Pastors do not stick their noses in your personal life. They do not shun you either. You are never told to confess sin to them. If on your own you go to them for advice they will help you and not shun you or tell others to. Cults control your life 100%. They isolate you from all who are not in the cult. They run every aspect of your life. They use fear and make you think only they can save you. If you leave they shun you and tell the congregation to shun you even your closest family members. You're trained to run and tell the leaders if anyone is doing something they don't like. You must believe all they tell you and obey. They take up most of your time in the cult to be brain-controlled.

I wish this was true! The hash reality is that they also teach some lies and you can't get them.tp change it. Example: trinity - the worship of the Holy Spirit, co equality, oneness of entity, etc..
These concepts do not appear anywhere in the bible. But the so called pastors teach them.

I lost everything also. Is there a support group for our kind of people? I am a broken human being, that needs a “hug”. That’s what the doctor said to the nurse, standing behind my unconscious, overdosed body. “All that woman needed was a “hug”, is what he said to her. I will never go back, again, either.
Ali Millar, I feel you, I love you, I’m sorry those people can do harm to others and I am sorry they hurt you. I sit with my eyes leaking, at this moment, remembering my losses that include: my mother, two sisters, 5 children, 5 grandchildren, three I have never met nor do I know their names. I wasn’t invited to weddings, showers, dinner, coffee, graduations, prom nights, etc. This entity (JW’s) displays no love or justice, as they pretend to represent The Living God. Who’s name, I can no longer say. However, the name He gave to Moses to deliver to the Israelites was YHWH. So, I am never, truly alone. Sad and lonely, but never alone.
If there is anyone that can send a virtual hug. I definitely need one.

Sects unlike religions constantly say that the end is imminent and you will see it in your lifetime. The JWs are a remarkable example to illustrate this psychic influence to always make-believe the followers generation after generation that they will be alive to see the divine intervention.
The end was imminent in 1874, 1914, 1925, 1951, 1975...2000, 2010, and 2020. Stephen Lett's speech announcing in 2020 that the pandemic is proof that the end is imminent: "without a doubt, we are in the last part of the last part of the last days, shortly before the last day of the last days.”
A hundred years ago the world was at war and millions of people were killed. It seemed the end had come. Due to the ravages of war, there were also famines in many places. Then, in 1919, a year after the war ended, a plague broke out called the Spanish Flu. It was more deadly than the great war.
Taking advantage of these catastrophic events, men like JF Rutherford predicted the end in 1925 after his predecessor had announced it for 1914. All of these men are but modern-day false prophets.
1st President: William Henry Conley, the end is near...died 1897
2nd President: Charles Taze Russell, the end is imminent... died in 1916
3rd President: Joseph Franklin Rutherford, the end is imminent... died in 1942
4th President: Nathan Homer Knorr, the end is imminent... died in 1977
5th President: Frederick William Franz, the end is imminent... died in 1992
6th President: Milton George Henschel, the end is imminent... died in 2003
7th President; Don Alden Adams, the end is imminent... he will very soon join the procession of the deceased who believed in the promises of the Watchtower of an end always at hand.
The earth keeps spinning over and over like this ever-looming end of the world over and over again. The generations follow one another in a great endless waltz of a dance that goes around in circles and that no longer knows how to stop.

@@Baa975 In the year 999 A.D. it was fully believed that it was 'end of days' and Armageddon due in the year 1000 A.D. The Black Plague was sweeping through Europe and killing more than half of the population without there being any understanding of what caused it. There were floods, fires and plagues of vermin, and other pests, travelling from boats to land, eating the limited food. Vikings and Romans were raiding, and there were major battles and wars going on. Jesus was definitely going to return in the year 1000. My point is that epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters, plagues of pests, wars are part of human and earth history. Now is no different. There have been many times throughout history where the 'end of times' has been predicted. Such as the Jehovah's Witnesses four failed 'end of days' predictions.
Now climate change is the biggest concern, but the planet will last for your lifetime.
Humans have always had the same fundamental global issues, but with the benefit of modern knowledge, practices, medicine, and technology. We are now able to keep in touch with the majority of populations in the world, and many can continue to work from home. There is less poverty, and fewer wars than any other time in history. Infant mortality is at its lowesr, accept the USA where it has been increasing slightly (from already having the highest infant mortality rate of first world countries.) Also, other than the recent spike in the U.SA., violence has decreased globally.
Those are the actual statistics. I recommend you look them up for peace of mind. Unless you are in a death cult and look forward to a mass destruction of the planet, and mass genocide, so you can live in Paradise. Then the facts that most people find comforting will be deeply disturbing to you. Because death cults mess up people's ethics and morality.

@@Baa975 Your sentence : " Except now we really are in end days." has been said and repeated thousands of times. It is time to understand that the irrational is not part of real life.
I wonder about the mental health of people who in 2022 are still waiting for divine intervention. How can we still in 2022 be so irrational.
Everything that exists on earth or in the universe has an end. Stars, suns and even galaxies have lifespans. I don't see how the land would be an exception. The day or the end will come as for all things that exist, then it will come by rational and explainable mechanisms and not by a supernatural irrational divine calendar.

I admire you for writing about your Jehovah's Witness experience. I too was scared, being a jw, that my grandmother would die as she wouldn't convert from her beliefs. 1975 was the date that Armageddon would happen. I didn't sleep that year because it was to happen in the night. I hated my life. Most of my family, cousins, aunts, and uncles were JWs. When New Year's 1976 came I realized Armageddon didn't happen. I went out to a club alone and celebrated, not New Year's, but life itself. Not many people that I knew and worked with would ever know my thoughts of terror and dread. It was all a big secret that I would carry for years. In 1976 I requested to be disassociated/disfellowshipped. And I was ostracized by many people. My sister passed me in the city one day. We were on the sidewalk and as she passed me she looked away from me. I knew then that the letter had been read aloud to the congregation. I'm glad I had the courage to leave. My grandmother on my father's side was one of the 144,000. She was very sad about my choice.

3  He sent down to you the Book with the Truth, confirming what came before it; and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel.

17  She secluded herself from them, and We sent to her Our Spirit, and he appeared to her as an immaculate human.

28  O sister of Aaron! Your father was not an indecent man, and your mother was not unchaste.”

Congratulations!! You are now free to truly see how loving Christ truly is!! I grew-up with fear as a JW child. It's all about wanting to do "right" by God,yet we're always terrified we're not!! THAT'S A HUGE WEIGHT FOR A LITTLE CHILD TO CARRY!! I capped this bc it truly creates our futures of drugs/alcohol/mental-health issues/suicide. %99 of children who grow up in it are doomed for this. My mum was a single parent back in the early '70's. Being young, alone & scared, she was ripe for picking. After researching that Charles Taze Russell has an obelisk, being a 33rd degree freemason, really had me questioning. He actually took a lot from a morning friend he'd respected & admired. I'd watched a young intelligent woman leave a promising IBM job to be a "full time pioneer"! That's just one example! There's hardly anything about the Holy Spirit, I don't remember thinking about it much, it's basically Jesus & Jehovah. Jesus isn't a lie but religions and cults are!! Ask Him to show you. He is The Alpha & the Omega. 🙏🏼🌿🕊️💞

Born into this high-control religion in 1969. I am now so grateful to be out, awake, and free from cult indoctrination and healing from the trauma of being raised in a Doomsday cult. I am no un-learning all the destructive ideals, rules, and morals not only of the JWs, but of the Bible and its God. There a few bits in the 66 books written by men, and especially for men, which stand the test of time, but for myself, having read it many times, cover to cover, and now with the clarity that comes from being able to think for one's self, and to trust one's own inner wisdom and reasoning abilities, I reject most of it. And my life has improved immeasurably as a result.. I am an atheist, by which I mean I have no belief in God, but even if there is one, it is of no consequence to me. I l live my life Now, treating each day as a gift. As a faithful, active Believer I was miserable, anxious and depressed, even suicidal. Now every day I am grateful for each day I am alive. Each day is a gift. I believe the second half of my life as being the best. " As for me and my household, I shall follow no gods. I will trust my heart and lean on my own understanding, and the peace of the Universe past understanding shall be mine." Abigail 3:31.

@@alexshatner3907 dear me, what grand conspiracy theories you have! Speaking from first hand experience --myself and the hundreds of exJWs I have gotten to know through online support and recovery groups--no one wants to "take others with them"--we simply want to heal, live o agood life, love ourselves and others, find peace, and heal from the trauma that was caused by being raised in a Doomsday cult. We are happy to let others follow theor own conscience. And we share truth and facts with those who care to b e informed. Truth and fats are never harmful. May you find your peace and happiness in your beliefs, just as we who have left this coercive , high demand religion are now able to do. You do you! All the best.

You're strong . I am truly proud of you, I know it's not easy growing up as a JW. Been there myself, I'm norwegian and was cast out when I was 14. My whole life has been pretty much shitty since then, I never managed to be a "normal" citizen, but I do get by somehow. Lost my parents and my sisters just because I didn't believe. Anyways, here I am, 48 years old and got diddely squat to show for myself. But hey, at least I am my own person and get to be a free thinker :-D Peace out, sister! I wish you all good things in life!

I was born in as well. I left when I was 16 because of an issue where I went to the elders and told them something a boy from another congregation had done to me against my will, was blamed for it, publicly reproved for it, and absolutely nothing happened to him; not even a committee was formed to question him. When I finally found out why, they said it was because there weren’t 2 witnesses (at the mouth of 2 witnesses a matter is established). So I asked how I could be publicly reproved for something that wasn’t established and possibly never happened as it had to have involved 2 people since it was either that or I was lying for no apparent reason (I’d always been an excellent JW and only questioned things to understand better, especially I was a good girl). They said because I was essentially confessing about myself but it didn’t mean that the statements about anyone else involved were accurate. I later found out it was over a year before the other congregation’s elders even brought it up to him and it wasn’t the first time there’d been trouble with him and women.
Not only did I question the system for the first time, I realized it wasn’t just my congregation, it was a congregation across the state where my grandparents lived so it wasn’t like a bad apple in a barrel: it was how they operated. And if the system that ran the entire religion, made all the plans and rules, decided all the interpretations from the Bible to teach us, told us what was a sin and what wasn’t according to those interpretations, AND how to “punish” us was that screwed up, how could I know if any of it was right when I didn’t even have anything to compare it to since everyone I knew (including family) were JW’s? So at 16 years old I started thinking about every single rule I’d ever been taught, comparing it to my knowledge of the Bible, then trying to figure out if I thought it was a good rule or not and why. It was hard since I’d never really had to have my own opinions about these things but luckily I was good at figuring out how I felt about things and I eventually found out that morality is ridiculously simple without needing a ton of rules.
    1) Live your life the best you can trying to be the best person you can be, help people how you can when you can (as long as they’re actually trying to help themselves too) and if you can’t it’s sad but it’s part of life. If doing your best isn’t good enough for any or all god(s) that may exist then what’s the point to a religion anyway? Does anyone really believe a creator of the universe cares about head coverings, acts of reproduction (regardless of whether they result in a child), how you cover your body, or whether you ritually bend your legs to kneel? Or do they care what kind of person you are?
    2) As long as adults are of sound mind and are making decisions that aren’t bringing harm to anyone, I don’t see how they can be sinful. Love is a good thing no matter who they love. Sex doesn’t hurt anyone as long as they’re adults, sound mind, made the decision, and aren’t hurting anyone (as in use protection and get consent etc). Assault, murder, theft etc would also fall under bad things in this category along with pretty much every other sane rule I could think of.
That’s it. Morality in 2 basic ideas. Not a bunch of rules. I don’t have a religion because I ended up researching all kinds of religions and found so many of the same problems I was trying to get away from. Having ideas of what’s good is a much better plan I think. And if I’m wrong I’ll still know I always tried to do my best.

@@ticklemebreathless1394 I’m very happy to hear that! It’s so hard to leave when you’re born in, harder when you truly believed and never questioned it was right since it’s such a shock to your EVERYTHING to actually think otherwise for the first time, hardest when you’re a teenager and you don’t have anyone.
I also learned it’s very difficult for people to separate the ideas of morality and beliefs in deities from religion. It makes me happy to hear my thoughts on morality resonate with you because for some reason, people in general think you need some kind of incentive to be a good person, as in you need “the carrot and stick” to behave. The promise of some sort of afterlife reward for goodness and punishment for badness so there’s also many of those that think if you aren’t religious you don’t care about right and wrong. I often have to explain what the word “agnostic” actually means since many think it’s similar to “apostate” in nature, or even devil worship, rather than just not knowing if there’s a god or not (technically everyone, just some have faith and others don’t).
I find it a bit scary that people can’t trust each other to act like adults I talked to a lot of people to both supplement my religious studies and help myself understand how most people thought about these things. But I always try to encourage people to get to know their own conscience about what’s truly wrong and, more importantly, WHY. If you can’t come up with any plausible reason why something could be wrong without resorting to “__ said so” then should it really be considered wrong? Put yourself in the position of the person doing it and the person or people it affects to help consider what exactly could be wrong about it, or what circumstances (like consent for sex) could make it wrong. Once you start you get a moral guidebook pretty darn quickly

@@zaytosmoove3566 while I wish I hadn’t had to go through it, it’s kinda sounds terrible to say that I WOULDN’T take back such a horrible thing happening to me but it’s true. I wouldn’t be who I am, have the life, happiness, people, or lack of judgment in it that I do if I took it back.
I’d never questioned that the system or teachings might be wrong, no matter how many messed up things happened. I have an uncle and aunt who’ve been in Bethel since they were 18 so I heard things in passing. I never would have questioned without something that drastic happening, I would have either had faith it would work out or thought someone wasn’t following god’s will, maybe even tried to help them. I have no doubt I’d still be a JW, completely blind because of turning the other cheek so many times I can’t see what’s in front of me, and completely ignoring the angry screams in a corner of my mind from being treated like a slightly dim witted second-class citizen by grown men who couldn’t understand my the words I used when I was 10 or begin to read & understand the books I’d read more than once by age 12, so the screams would continue since they couldn’t possibly have the reading comprehension skills necessary to lecture me about the Bible, but they get to because they’re men.
Which actually makes no sense considering the Bible constantly says Man and Men to mean “human”. Otherwise it’s okay for women to be homosexual, just not men according to the Bible since it says “men who lie with men”. Although it only says they can’t enter the kingdom of heaven, not that they can’t inherit the earth along with the meek (just thought I’d point it out).
I also wouldn’t be angry that my aunt and uncle got kicked out of their home at Bethel in their 50s into the real world for the first time since they were 18 with no idea how to do anything like bank accounts, pay bills, no real job skills, no drivers licenses, certainly no car, and were just told they’d still have health insurance, an allowance till they were on their feet, paid moving expenses, and assistance finding an affordable rental and paying rent until they secured jobs when the WBTS sold the Brooklyn property. So… who’s going to hire someone in their 50’s with no job skills and a completely blank work history, not even a fast food place as a teenager? Oh, and can’t drive so is likely to be late frequently? They’d have to get new drivers insurance to get a license which isn’t exactly affordable with the allowance from Bethel. The most amazing part? They did this to thousands of their most faithful members, made actual double digit BILLIONS from the property sale (my uncle was on the planning committee but was excluded from the planning NOT to relocate everyone to the new property which was going to total double digit Millions for completion). So there’s no reason they couldn’t have relocated everyone if they’d built the original plans, but they cut costs there too. So all the money they made? It isn’t going toward helping the people they kicked out and it isn’t in the Watchtower Bible & Tract Societies coffers. They’ve refused to comment on what they did with it, but it wasn’t deposited into the proper account. Stock market investment maybe if you want to be generous with benefit of the doubt? Or acting like CEOs and giving themselves raises/golden parachutes? I don’t actually care other than it’s not going to help the people they threw away that have no idea about how real life works, like thinking if they don’t have money when a bill is due they can just explain that and the company will understand since you can’t have what isn’t there, and surely they’ll extend the due date 😓. They need an adulting life skills course or something.
But if I took back what I’d gone through, I would think that Bethel knew things I didn’t and I would have thought they made the right decision even if it might not seem like it to me which is why faith is required. So I really really can’t wish I hadn’t gone through it, you take the good with the bad, fair with the unfair, and learn the lessons that you can’t be who you are if you changed your past. And I’m proud of who I AM, I’m NOT proud of who I was. Without darkness, how could you follow the light?

Amen to this woman for speaking her truth. I have nothing against anyone's religion but when your child has been brainwashed for 5yrs and 5 months that can be hard on a child and thank God my son isn't suicidal because my great aunt actually told him to kill himself. I was shocked at the the things he told me that took place in her home. I was called his "mammy", "she don't love you", not a month went by that I didn't provide for my child yet they stole and gave away his clothes, games I bought several times, told him he couldn't wear certain clothes because he was being worldly or being gang related(which is so far from the truth), kept him away from his immediate family, said "he would never know any of us"(which her brother my uncle made me aware of, that was shocking as well),would throw water in his face and said👉🏾 this is what the "Kingdom Hall" taught me to do, throw shoes at him,hit him with a bat and tell him "go fetch me water boy " as if he was a slave. She allowed a man to take off his underwear during a swim time at the park and he told her about it and she did nothing, I told mandated court reporters about it and everyone brushed it under the rug. My child was NEVER taken from me she was suppose to be a guardian to my child but instead she abused him mentally, physically and spiritually until he got the strength to secretly call me and let me listen in to what was going on and said not mom you see what I go through everyday. It was heart wrenching to say the least and three days later I had my mother go pick him up from his old school and he has been home ever since amen but I am still left with the challenge of teaching him the basics of life and as a mother my work is never done and I'm ok with that. Who would ever leave their child in an abusive situation? I'm proud of these people for streaking out. May God be with them all🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾.

It’s not that. As someone that was in it their whole life and just really realized how wrong it is and it’s a cult within the last 8 months it’s not that you view it as your only hope it just really messes your mental state up realizing you’ve been deceived your whole life and now my own mother and family won’t have anything to do with me. So you lose everyone you’ve ever known and they all treat you like you’re dead or the devil. It’s a really big strain on your mental state for sure.

I was born in, left at 12 years old after my two older siblings had already left, still think some of the things i had to deal with in the normal world whilst still in the religion affects me now. Luckily my dad is atheist so it wasn't as hard for me to leave, but constantly answering questions in school when you're the only child not doing things such as nativity/any of the christmas activities, having to leave a sleepover early the next morning to go to meetings etc. Also learned to become secretive from a young age, and when i finally stopped i think i pushed back too far in the rebellious direction and got tangled with drugs etc from 16-21, but all sober now and can reflect on the negatives and also the few positives. It was mostly bad and i think the deeper you get, the worse it becomes as it becomes all that you know, so luckily having the sense to do it at a young age reduced the damage and indoctrination. Stay safe and, if i get blown to smithereens on armageddon, so be it😂

It's so hard for me, especially having to do door to door witnessing because to me it just feels like it's too much. Not to mention standing at the carts, especially in bad parts of towns but I have to do it and I can't stand it. I feel trapped and everytime I have to go to a meeting or a convention I want to cry, but my parents don't understand.

For several months the Mormons have resumed their proselytism. In Paris and Versailles, they are seen distinctly in public squares. I even have the impression that there are more of them than before. The contrast is striking against the non-existent JW. I didn't see a single JW stiff behind his little cart. To appease their cognitive dissonance and conscience they write pathetic letters. This public testimony, which was nevertheless a matter of life or death, has stopped altogether. What a beautiful testimony of power. It reminds me of the god of the Israelites seizing the territories of Gaza, Askalon, and Ekron, but who will be stopped dead in his tracks by the inhabitants of the plains. Why? well, quite simply because they had iron chariots. (Judges 1:19).
The god of the Israelites was no different from all the other ancient gods. He asks for blood sacrifices and punishes by using violence like all the other gods and like all the other gods he could be defeated.
All these ancient gods were just cardboard gods that helped to catalyze and control peoples. Today the god of the Watchtower did not stop because of the iron chariots, but because of a small virus.

28  O sister of Aaron! Your father was not an indecent man, and your mother was not unchaste.”
32  And kind to my mother, and He did not make me a disobedient rebel.

One of the biggest things that is put off by the JWs is that they disavow their own founder to their own religion.
They also teach that you should ignore your own feelings and that you can not trust your feelings at all. In other words, if you receive a prompting from the Holy Ghost, you should ignore those promptings. Does not really make sense in my own opinion.

Great video Ali and thanks for posting your story.
I was indoctrinated into a nasty version of Christianity that taught hell to small children. Horrible times so I feel for you. I'll share my story of a recent contact with that group.
I had a "Jehovah’s Witnesses" come to my door recently and it was very very sad to 'witness' what played out next.
The poor guy was straight into his 'sales pitch' as they are trained to do when I asked why did he think there was a god in the first place. He stopped turned around and said because of all this.
    {pointing at well everything including my garden}
I explained that the tree and grass were both from seeds as I planted them.
I explained that other religions with different gods have told me that the same tree/grass is from their god(s).
So now I explained very politely that I have a problem.
This guy says the tree/grass is only from his god and the others are false gods whereas they said the tree/grass was only from their god and all the others are fake.
I asked him how I could actually tell where the tree/grass came from other than the seed that I set and he told me to, and I'll quote him word for word here:
"Stop being difficult and just believe what I am telling you because I am right and they are wrong'
He immediately started back up with "well now you believe me and my god is the only true god, we will carry on" and carried on with his sales pitch. So I simply went back inside my house and I am not sure he even noticed as he blathered endlessly from his man-made storybook.
It is very sad to see a grown man so stuck in his magical thinking that he cannot see the
wood for the trees (or trees from the seeds!!) that of course only came from his deity.
This is the problem of childhood indoctrination into a magical way of thinking.
It's why we have religions based on geography.
Children are so lucky to have been born into the correct religion, their parents/families/countries' religion.
It's why there are Christians in the Bible Belt (US), Hindus in Nepal and Muslims in Iraq.
I tell people these days that people should,
Teach their children 'how' to think and not 'what' to think or this sad man will be the fruit on your tree.
Very best and thanks for this work, very professional - best Gray

There will always be a part of me that says Jehovah cares for you if you just had more faith tried harder, prayed more, etc. that hasn't worked in 60 years, even the elders told me after my reinstatement that the sisters would still not be allowed to talk to me due to the wicked influence of my brother who is a very powerful elder. I will never get over my wasted life and broken heart.
