Unfortunately I did never do dpv1. But after 9 years of using my own dpv it doesn’t make sense anymore to do dpv1. I wish I could do dpv1 with my JJ ccr and a deco stage.
I have a Blacktip tech and I did GUE DPV1 with Karim Hamza in the Los Angeles, CA area. One thing you didn't mention is how great the DPV is for dives where there is current. Especially tech dives when you are carrying deco bottles and not as streamlined, it really helps. I've only been using a DPV for a couple of months, but it is a really useful tool (in addition to being a lot of fun). I would recommend the DPV class to anyone - it helped me become comfortable with it much more quickly than if I had just tried to learn on my own.
Thanks for taking me on a ride! It was a lot of fun!!! DPV1 is booked and now I need to open up my wallet. ;-) Carbon Scooter or Suex, that is the question now…
My first real DPV dive (I don't count the one with the hand-held Apollo "pool toy" dives) was from The Breakwater in Monterey to Lover's Point in Pacific Grove. In one fell swoop, all my dive sites got very small.
@@DoktorBEN Yes. A Genesis 600. That dive was with Jon Nellis, owner of Logic Dive Gear, the manufacturer. He delivered my new DPV to me at the dive site and we went diving. A total blast!
Just bought a second hand XK1. Waited until I got plenty of tec experience and got Full Cave certified. Can't wait to play with it. I've not taken a DPV class and am not sure I'll take a basic class. Probably just start slowly. I do plan to take a Tech DPV class later.
Ben, congratulations for your channel, in my opinion you created something that was missing and you deserve more following, great job and keep it up! It would be nice to have a comparison between the major brands of DPV and maybe even an advice on the model based on the dives you do
Thank you very much! It’s good to hear that what I do adds value to the community. I’d love to do a comparison. But since I can buy lights and SMBs I don’t need, just for a video, I don’t earn enough with RUclips yet to get me a bunch of scooters unfortunately 🤣. But I can make a video of my personal scooters, just to show what I dive personally.
@@DoktorBEN Of course, I understand that you can't buy them to make a video 😅😅😅 Maybe you could give us some feedback on the ones you used and what made you prefer one model to another. I've always used the Suex XK for example, but found them inconvenient for various reasons. Finally a few days ago I decided to buy an XJs
Hi Ben, Great video. At 6.26, what brand manifold and tank bands are these? My current bands and manifold leave my tanks quite far apart. I like how these tanks looked close together. Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work!
I have always rented and tried XK1 in the past. Without a proper training and experience there are more risks and stress than fun. If I were to buy it today I would definitely go for something smaller and more manageable than an XK1. Big downside is always the price for these "Toys" 😕
Do you guys have a DPV and did you do a class before?
Unfortunately I did never do dpv1. But after 9 years of using my own dpv it doesn’t make sense anymore to do dpv1. I wish I could do dpv1 with my JJ ccr and a deco stage.
It‘s certainly very interesting and worth to train in that configuration!
Cave dpv
I have a Genesis 600 and got a DPV cert.

This video really help me a lot before my gue dpv course. thanks!
That was my intention 😃
@@DoktorBEN after couse. I feel suck on my piranha. then decide to make a new tec dpv later this year. maybe you will be interested.
Interested in erst exactly? In the piranha or tracing the DPV class? I actually teach one in October.

Yeah that's a good question....we should make a test ;)
The dive Xtras black tip is a nice little unit and won’t break the bank
@@luked237 Agreed - I have the Blacktip Tech and it is great for open water dives.

Yeah that was the most impressive to me, raising his small the sites are respectively how slow I was without DPV! 😁 So do you own a DPV?

@@OrenNoah I never used one. I think they are not really available in Europe. However, I'd love to test it!

Very good choice! 😄
Woah! I always thought 'Germany's a big place, that guy is probably far away', and then I see the place where I dive nearly every week :-)
It’s a small world! I’m there almost every week, too! 😂
Haha, if I see you there I'll come say hi some time!
Das wichtigste beim DPV Tauchen ist natürlich, die Flossen schlagenden Geringverdiener ohne DPV ordentlich zu überholen und dabei breit zu grinsen 😁🤣
Ja und nochmal eine Runde drumherum 🤣
I just bought my Suex XK1 and I’m registered for DPV1 with Steve Blanchard in 🇨🇦
That sounds like a very good combination! Have fun! 😁

So let‘s make a video about your reasons to switch from XK to XJS!
@@DoktorBEN It would be interesting! The XSj should arrive in a couple of weeks 🙂
So let’s make something!
Welcome in The Netherlands by the way. I recognize the Boschmolenplas dive center. If you're interested to dive let me know. I dive there often.

I’m not 100% sure but I think it‘s either Halcyon or BtS

Yes, that’s right!
Lmfao a class 😂I learned with world class divers their instructions were “don’t rocket man yourself to the surface and you’ll be fine”
That’s the most obvious rule! 🤣
