Mah boys, excuse the HYPE, but it's been a h-AHH-t minute since I've gotten footage of a bus with a 6V92/ HT, and this powertrain is THE SH#T!! This old-school Detroit Diesel 6V92 is even LOUDRRRR than on most buses, coupled with a screamin' Allison transmission... YOOOO, HOLD UP! O_____O This bus be screamin' even loudrrrr than... idk, Princess Peach B#tch Peach B#tch b#tch ass when tha mothaf#%ka Bowser kidnaps her ass XDDDD! Except in a good way, cause this bus sounds off the chain, and I know yall will love it mah boys! This sh#t sound so fire, even more fire than this hot ass California weather lmao!
The f#%ked up part tho is that F646TFH only redlines at 65!! For real?! 〈___〈 😒 I mean come on son, a bus that sounds f#%king bomb, but the gearing is not on point? See, now that's that bull bull! 💩
It's all good tho! First of all, at least the top speed ain't straight wack like many original recipe Phantoms that only do like 60! And we got a few homies that got that DDEC laptop on deck, HHHH! AND F646 only revs up to A, so we could always turn this sh#t up! Now before yall talkin' bout some "NSCALE! NSCALE! Wouldn't yo crazy ass turning up the RPMs, make the engine take an L?" But mah boys, we got buses with 6V92's that rev up to A# or even B on the freeway, so it should be all good if we turn up F646 100-150 RPMs lol! Once we do the damn thing and F646 kills it on the freeway, it might just be the BIG BOESS of Gillig Phantoms! Sorry Westcat 115-AHH, TINA... sad head bobbing I miss that bus tho T___T
Oh and f#%k a CARB, cause these mothaf#%kas is why buses don't sound GOODRRRR THAN A B#TCH anymore!
Now without further ado... we gon' be screamin' away from CARB like this, and then we gon' stop, and pass out on dat ass like this X___X... LET'S DO THIS SH#T!!!
-4:55 That off-the-chain rev up had my nerd ass wheezin' talkin' bout some "O-HHHHHHHH!!" XDDDDDD 😂😂😂

It’s funny they drove right past my old exit in Pleasanton when I lived there years ago. Does this Phantom have city gearing or something? I noticed 3rd gear sounds closely matched to 2nd gear. I used to ride BART Express and I believe those were all 1984 Phantom’s with the same 6v92 and I believe an Allison. Not sure which one. The spacing between 2nd and 3rd gear seemed further apart. It seemed like they had taller gearing. Maybe being they spent time on the highway between Livermore and Hayward & Bayfair BART stations. I remember 1522 was a beast. It must have been turned up a bit 😀

Mah boy! Detroit 6V92 for the win! This one just made my morning! When I heard this thing while laying in bed I was like "You gotta be kidding me! Another one!" Absolutely love that takeoff at 7:16 - love how he gets on and off the throttle through the turn and then just floors it! That HTB748 is just music! The sound definitely makes up for the bus only going 65! If only you got a full throttle takeoff from the outside with it shifting through the gears at the end - that would have been icing on the cake! Now you need to go for a long ride in a truck with an L10 / HT740. Doesn't matter if it's a garbage truck, dump truck, semi, whatever! But make sure the L10 growls and the HT740 slips! That would be absolutely sick! Hopefully you can do that sometime real soon...

XDDDD you knew it was about to be a wrap 😂 nothing screams like an ORIGINAL RECIPE Allison lol! IDK, I still wanna see it get turned up cause then we'd be screaming a musical key or two higher 😛 yeah I'll definitely try to get more exterior so we can pass out on dat @$$ lol! Oh trust mah boy I been wanting to ride something... (pause)... with a L10/HT740, but dat sh#t rare as f#%k! Oh yeah I've seen that video already. And you bet I'll be doing my best to get that ride with Nik in that 87 GMC/White WX64 rolloff! And the best part, the HT740 in it is extremely loud, and I bet you a million bucks that thing screams in 1st gear! You know I'm just dying to hear that thing shifting through the gears! I've wanted to hear it running through the gears and get a ride in it since I first heard it about 5 years ago now. But it's strictly a yard truck, so it only drives around their property. But I'll try and convince Nik to take it out on the road, maybe get some freeway action as well!

I don't dislike the newer Nabis, New Flyers and ElDorados but those bad boys altogether will never match up to these legends, Cummins might be more efficient but you can't go wrong with the Jimmies and their legacy. With the supposed electric fleet renewal by 2030, they better make those buses sound like this (am I right or not).

...My God, I've missed hearing the powertrain! Gillig Phantom buses are my favorite... My area where suburban SMART buses serves (weekday peak-hours) including SMART's FAST service, used to have the 1992-1993 Gillig Phantom units. The 92 units #9201-9223 are 30FT while #9224-9225 are 40FT and all have the same power train. The Phantom units #9370-9393 from 1993 are 35FT long but they have the Series 50 engine with the ZF Ecomat 4HP-590 transmission. Sadly ,all of them were retired in September 2004 when the entire fleet was converted to an ALL Gillig low floor fleet; the 30ft Phantoms were retired in November of 2002.
