I used to watch these parades as a kid in Pakistan and they were fun. Watching Ertugrul being played in the parade is so funny. Pakistan has such severe identity crises.

However, one more piece of fact might help put together the whole puzzle: apart from 1857, Muslims were per capita almost negligible in the fight for freedom in any format well until the dismemberment of Ottoman Caliphate. Even in 1857 - the fight really was on the basis of religious fervour and Khilafat movement was also based on Islam. Even in Palestine, the Arabs didn’t want to fight the occupiers for freedom until the Jews were almost about to win the freedom. It is playing the same in Pakistan. The govt will sustain their control as long as they can keep the “ignorant” population dormant with the name of religion. One of the best (easiest) people to rule!

Actually Pakistani's glorious history can be dated back to Mauriyan Empire. Many pakistanis muslims have genes related to the people of that time. In entire Indian continent that was the glorious history. How far we reached both geographical and intellectually that time. Even at that ancient time we used to have world class universities like Nalanda and Takshhasila. All the pakistanis know about Ertugal but very few know about Ashoka. Actually Pakistani's glorious history can be dated back to Mauriyan Empire. Many pakistanis muslims have genes related to the people of that time. In entire Indian continent that was the glorious history. How far we reached both geographical and intellectually that time. Even at that ancient time we used to have world class universities like Nalanda and Takshhasila.
All the pakistanis know about Ertugal but very few know about Ashoka. I dont hope that pakistani syllabus have even give the space for Ashoka. That was the true proudable history of the people of Indian subcontinent.
