CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Brody (Roy Scheider) gets the killer shark to bite an underwater power cable and electrocute itself.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Despite being a less well-regarded virtual remake of the original film, Jaws 2 earned a tidy sum at the box office by combining its predecessor's winning formula with the popular teen horror craze, helping to spawn the era of blockbuster sequels. Roy Scheider returns as Sheriff Martin Brody, whose small resort town of Amity is poised to bounce back from the economic hardship it encountered after becoming widely known as the site of vicious shark attacks. But at the same time that Mayor Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) is welcoming a real estate developer to Amity, two divers disappear and a party of waterskiers is consumed by a shark. The incidents are explained away as accidents, but Brody knows better, tipping his bullets with cyanide and forbidding his sons Mike (Mark Gruner) and Sean (Marc Gilpin) to participate in a teen sailing regatta. Everyone foolishly chalks up Brody's fears to trauma-induced paranoia, and the regatta goes forward, with a hungry great white trailing the youthful contestants and hungrily picking them off one by one. Director Jeannot Szwarc would later helm another sequel, Supergirl (1984).

I love how The Chief always has a badass one-liner before he kills a shark lol
If it were in real life chief Brody would be a legend! Dude literally stares a shark in the eyes coming right at him and not just kill it but comes out with a one liner each time lmao
@@Godfather9814 Honestly, this one-liner cheapens the one-liner from the first one, but I still like it.
@@andrewbland625 yeah the first one is literally the best, after jaws 2 I think they stopped having one liners when the shark gets killed
@@andrewbland625 Sorry for slight change of subject Andrew bug if I was to say something is cheapen ed in a movie it'd be Return of the jedi and Darth going NO NOOOOOOOO just before he picks up the Emperor completely ruining the scene. It seriously pisses me off to the max.
@@Godfather9814 There was jaws the revenge when Michael Caine says "The breath on him" about the shark. Terrible movie
I caught my 4 year old about to put my laptop power cord in his mouth so I showed him this clip to let him know what happens when you chew on power cables. He got the message. Extreme parenting.
Now I gotta do that when my son starts doing that.
agree xD good parenting! That's a lesson for your kids!
AJ's Music Videos heck yea! or add hot pepper😵🔥😉.
Genius, in my opinion. This is why you should never let your kids or your pets get near any power chords. And this scene explains all.

This is, without a doubt, the best Jaws sequel.
Agreed. And that’s coming from someone who actually kinda enjoyed the other 2
I think 3 had a better premise but way worse execution
That’s not saying much
Yes.
I don't think Brody get's the credit he deserves he should be listed as one of the all time great hereos of film
Not only did he keep crime off the streets, but he was the king of shark killing with great one liners before he does it 😂

I bet this shark is Bruce's wife.
I've never understood why people hate this film so much. Sure, it's nowhere near as perfect as the first one, but I still think Jaws 2 does a competent job at being a serious followup and is fun to watch with friends.
EDIT: Wow, I wrote this comment when I was 13 or 14 and I'm still getting replies. Cool
TheHazinator it's a teen slasher film on the ocean. It has its charm. Besides, no other shark film comes half as close to original's brilliance.
Niel Dennis Did you watch The Shallows? It's considered the best shark movie in aeons.
Who ever said it is hated? As far as I know, it's widely considered the best shark movie after the original.
Probably more re-watch value because it's faster.
The 1st one was a classic, the 2nd one wasn’t as good as the first, but was still pretty good, the 3rd and 4th one were pure shit
Incredible how Roy Scheider used his head in the first two. One heroic SOB in these movies, bless his soul, also.
I hope you know Roy was acting as Chief Martin Brody and he just did what the directors told him to do.
@@hesch-tag i hope you know you're not as smart as you think you are.

MOIUISIUVZSVZYVGSVYGUISB
Jaws 2 has its flaws but I love the subplot of Brody having PTSD. It gives this scene a deeper meaning. He's facing his fear head on and is more than willing to sacrifice himself to protect those around him, including his son.
I think that was the best part of the film. If we the audience could not see the shark, this could be a paranoia psychogical drama, because we could think the main character was losing his mind.
How does that rubber raft stay floating with Brody's giant balls of steel on it?
Electricity has no effect on rubber because it is an insulator. And everybody says that when there's a thunderstorm going on with lightning, the safest place for you when you're not home is in the car, because the rubber tires will protect you.
Lol
😂😂😂😂
I think every man would do something like this is his little son were in Sean Brody`s position,
@@kryptonianpowersdid you even read the comment?
It's a real testament to Roy Scheider's acting ability that he carried this entire movie himself despite phoning in his performance.
I wouldn't say he was phoning it in. If he was, his performance would've been bland or wooden.
@@benfisher4598 He didn't want to do it. Glad he did.
@Right To Censor Just the way actors think. McQueen turned the first film down. "I'm not playing second place to a shark" or some bollocks. Failing to see they'd be the hero of the film.
Right To Censor idk maybe he just didn’t want to be in it maybe?
He actually almost started punching the director at times. He still said that he wanted to do as well as he could, even if he was forced by a contractual obligation to do this film, and I think he still did well, which is one of the reasons I enjoy the film (and consider it my fifth-favorite shark film, though I give it only an eight out of ten).

Jaws and Jaws 2 are the best! I must say, Jaws 3 and later Jaws or shark movies impress me less, though.
I was first kinda confused how Brody could survive this but realized later he was on a rubber boat...Sneaky Sneaky!

@@Nathanzavala_officialthat’s why he said what he said
I like to think that after this, Brody got his job back and the mayor was forced to resign after choosing to ignore two shark incidents
It's amazing the Mayor wasn't forced to resign after the FIRST movie.
I am surprised the mayor wasn't fired
There’s a deleted scene in Jaws 2 in which the mayor and town council are discussing Brody’s job status. The mayor sticks up for Brody. It’s the council that fires him. They should have left that scene in. I think it humanizes the mayor, who was flawed but ultimately not a bad man.
I’m guessing he did get his job back considering in the fourth movie there is a tribute to him hanging up in the police station. I’m guessing they gave him another man of the year award, he definitely earned it.
@@jordansanders4854 very true. I saw that deleted scene, and i think that was a mistake too.
I think this was actually the best shark death in the Jaws franchise. Not a fan of the rapid light flashes, but the way it was done, and the way the shark burns and sparks is very nice.
I don't blame ya, since excluding this movie, all the sharks in the Jaws franchise die by explosion
In my personal opinion... this is the most badass scene in all of horror! Then again Chief Brody is just a badass in general!
Until we find out later that he realized that killing two sharks was dangerous and that makes him all of a sudden die of a heart attack
At least Roy schreider wasn't stuck doing the terrible 4th film which would have just been a cameo seeing him killed off in the beginning

We can safely say his wife didn't know what she was talking about and he just died from a normal heart attack.
Not angry at all. I think it's a perfect way of explaining his refusal to star in this 4th sequel. In addition, as far as the story itself, I can totally agree with the Widow Brody about him finally succumbing via heart attack after the first to shark killing events that he did.
I completely agree. I think that it's very strange how Brody would be deathly afraid of sharks when he's already killed two.

I have 3 young kids now. Seeing Brody hug Sean smiling not caring that he told a little white lie is exactly what I would have done too. Just so grateful he’s ok. :-)
Yeah I just love that scene. As a father, I would like to think that that is how I would handle my kid, instead of going ballistic and yelling at him.
brody is the most badass shark killer
And also the 13 year old little girl clown killer Christine (CLOWNS)
I find the ending of Jaws 2 slightly more satisfying than that of the first film...
In the original film, Brody was trying to save himself--no one else was in immediate danger. In Jaws 2, Brody had to try to save those kids--including one of his own sons.
I only wish that I will someday be brave enough to save my beautiful beloved Alina from her abusive alcoholic husband...
Well he saved the whole town for the first shark. Is that not enough? besides, there`s a sequence in Jaws 2 showing Brody alone in his office, and we can see that Amity Island grants him the "1975 man of the year" award.
"Alright ya big bastard!! Come on!! Got something for ya now!!" XD
That’s it! That a boy! Come on!
Come on come on open wide open say aa
I'll 100% admit the second movie isn't as good as the first, but the scene where the shark gets electrocuted was pretty cool.
R.I.P Roy Scheider
Shark was looking positively demonic spewing fire hahah. They really wanted you to know that that shark was a creature possessed!
Brody is a legend
Quint and Hooper would be proud. In the original Jaws, they were far from shore, and the Mythbusters busted the myth that you can't blow up an oxygen tank with a bullet. Brody didn't get electrocuted because the cable was insulated, but when the shark bit into the cable with those sharp teeth, he penetrated the insulation and nailed the actual electrified cable.
Honestly I do love this movie.
Jaws 1 is setting the bar so high I think any sequel, no matter who directed it- it could even be directed by Steven Spielburg again, and it would still not be as good.
Regardless, Jaws 2 is _lightyears_ better than the other two franchise killers that succeeded it.
This scene is one of the many examples why i prefer practical effects over than CGI! ❤❤
💯
Roy Schieder, the man who made killing sharks look badass
The way he kills the shark 🦈 is actually epic😎
One of those moments I would always rewind on the video-tape, almost every time as a lil kid. It was epic and spectacular to watch the Shark get *_FRIED_* by the power cable, fire and smoke and sparks flying out of it as it's also burning up to a crisp, amazing.
Brody hitting the cable with a paddle to lure the shark shows just how much he’s learned about them since the first film.
Jaws 2 is a true sequel to the original.
You really have to give credit to those kids. It was that group of teenagers that really carried the movie and made this last scene as great as it is. I mean look at this group, you have one teen nearly catatonic, a few leaders, concern on everyone's faces they did a great job. If ever there was an academy award for a best group in a movie, these kids would earn it in a heartbeat.
Brody sure outsmarted another great white shark when he lured it towards him by using an oar to hit the power line so that it would get attracted by the vibrations underwater and get it to bite the water-tight power line and get it burned to death. Brody should‘ve deserved the medal of valor for his brave act saving most of the kids including his youngest son,Sean.

I like Brody as a hero. He's so down to earth. You don't need super powers or proffessional skills. Any1 can be a hero
This was the first one I saw as a kid (About 5 years old) and I knew that the first one was better, but since this was the only copy of Jaws I had in the house to watch, I never knew just how good the first one was, and as such, I can never see this in a negative point of view. I didn't see the first one until I was about 10. So for me, this was what I thought of when people say they like Jaws.

The first time I seen this I thought sure the shark was gonna bite his head off, but man that shark bit into that power line I’m like he took that shark out electrocution style. Go ahead Roy aka Chief Brody. R.I.P.
I remember the first time I watched this movie, I was literally thinking: “Too bad they can’t electrify the water somehow...” Then came this scene and I was like: 😳
Chief Brody! The best hero of all films!
For a sequel that didn't need to be made it still holds up as a nice successor to the first film. Little tie-ins like Brody trying to get in contact with Matt Hooper are nice connections to the original.
Best part of the whole movie hands down this movie never gets old

Now this scene was ELECTRIFYING!! 😎😎😎
Yes indeed Omar -- and you can bet all those who have seen "Jaws 2" got a big "charge" out of it! :D
Everyone dissed this sequel but I thought it was amazing. It showcases everything Brody learned from the last film that he puts into action; vibrations in the water attracting the shark as they hone in to frequencies just like it did with the helicopter and all of the shouting from the kids above the water and the noises of the boats. He put his neck on the line yet again to save his kids and the people of his town when nobody else would listen to him. Sure, the third and fourth film were absoloute shite but the second? Nah, I think it’s fantastic!
Sure, the first film was unbeatable. Once we establish that, i can say that the best of this one was the paranoia on Brody`s character. If we the audience couldn`t see the shark, we could think Brody was losing his mind.
When I first saw this scene when I was a kid I always imagined that the ghost of quint would appear and tell chief Brody how to kill this shark.

Victor Pleitez what do you mean
@@billymatthews4150 Typically writers introduce a weapon, or item, or knowledge early in the film that to most audiences on first viewing wouldn't pay much attention to. Then they use that in the final act to come full circle. Like with Jaws, and Jaws 2. Most of the times its got nothing to do with a weapon to kill the bad guy or monster. Some times its just simple set up with a big pay off at middle or final act of the film. Brody being afraid of going in the water at the start of the first film and finally being able to swim casually in it after killing the shark.

Fear of the shark didn't make him die from a heart attack. All those cigarettes, booze, black coffee his heart was already messing up and having two over adventurous sons.
