personally, the Secret Species DLC should just have the Spinoceratops + three new hybrids (carnivore, flying, and marine), then the other three that are officially in the pack should just be added as part of a free update.
Frontier usually promotes or gives hints to these DLC's. The fact the announcement as so close to release, just a day or two before it, only shows Frontier probably anticipated the mixed reaction from players.
This is the first pack I'm skipping out on for day 1. I'll probably buy it when it's on sale, but there are better things I can be buying with my money. This is worse than a Cretaceous Prey Pack in my opinion. At least we would have gotten 3 other creatures even if I don't care about Microceratus. Also the fact we aren't getting a free update is sad. We could have gotten extra skins for things like the 93 Trike, Feathered Rex, 2022 Para, or even the JP3 Raptors. An Indominus rex skeleton for display in the park would have fit the update for this DLC. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the Ankylodocus is unable to defend itself. We'll be getting another meatbag in the game, and that's tragic. Sauropods are such powerful and majestic animals, they shouldn't just be meatbags. Pterosaur social animations and maybe even walking would have been greatly appreciated, as well as the addition of a new building like the Pteratops Lodge. I was really hoping for this to be a Flying Species Pack in the same vein that we got a Marine Species Pack. I really dislike the Spinoceratops. Of all the hybrids we could have gotten, we got the one that is literally just a Sinoceratops with a sail, and I don't even like the Fallen Kingdom Sinoceratops. I was hoping for an aquatic hybrid or a flying hybrid like Metriaphodon.
I Agree with you about the choice of hybrids here. We have lagoons and aviaries now. And yet the hybrids we have gotten are copy pasted with one additional
if frontier wants a successful dlc then being lazy about it isn't the way. this dlc would sell very well if the jwe1 hybrids are free and the dlc has completely new hybrids
I feel like if they added more things, like new mechanics or a unique feature for the hybrids like indepth genome splicing giving our hybrids more modifications giving them sightly different appearence which can then also be applied to non-hybrid creatures but not as indepth if yk what I mean. Thats how this would have been worth it heck even if we dont get get and we got several more custom hybrids like a carnoraptor, or something unique to this game maybe (or several actiualy) with its own campaign it could have been cool.but its just copy pasted models with one extra and glowly patterns. a massive let down. AND NO FREE UPDATE!!!!! I live off of free updates man like cmon.
I will always feel mixed about this pack since the community literally came up with it months before it came out, i’m not necessarily mad that people are having to pay for it again (it’s a bad thing, I know) but this is my only evolution game, so I’m not bothered to have to pay for them. If they added for say a fifth dinosaur (tyrannosaurus+parasaurolophus = tyrannolophus as an idea I had,) or more skins, it could’ve worked. Still Better than the disappointment I had with the aquatic pack, having almost no aquatic update, Great video.
Well I can't blame Frontier for not adding updates considering that they had to let go of a lot of their staff. I kind of knew that they were eventually coming but I'm not surprised I'm still getting it but let's just be honest I'm only really going to buy it because of the lux skins, Plus Spinoceratops, plus I have to review it so yeah. Well it may be a disappointment but let's just be frank obviously Frontier wanted to appease the next generation of Jurassic world fans considering that most of them grew up with the first film so yeah it was expected. Ankylodocus is basically the biggest highlight for me besides the Spinoceratops. But it does make it clear that this is not the last DLC.

What a useless pack does nothing to game in general and a scam. Jesus Christ that layoff really did hit frontier hard, and people are asking for Evolution 3. Not with things happening right now.
Said this on one of Evos videos, but this DLC has such aggressive "cobbled together at the last minute" vibes. Maybe they did indeed have a Flier DLC planned and delayed it to add more features to it, maybe they were about to bid the game goodnight as they suddenly got told to ramp up production again, maybe the company is imploding. Probably that last one.
I think this will be good for the non-modding community but they could have released the original ones for free and made 3 unique hybrids and a custom hybrid feature for players who want to make a hybrid-based park

Despite not playing the first game and thus not having used these creatures, I'm still not interested in this DLC. In my opinion, this game needs more decorations, attractions and mechanics, not more dinosaurs. If Frontier was planning to wrap up development on this title a quick cash grab DLC makes the most sense as at that point any controversy it may cause is moot. That being said, with the new movie coming up, I do wonder if this game might still have some legs. Frontier could be planning something down the line, we'll just have to wait and see.
In what I hearing about the layoff at froniter, this dlc was low effect. This probably will be their last DLC going to wait for the live stream for confirmation
Im happy to see the old hybrids back, the lux skins are ok, SinoSpino is just meh never care for that hybrid and im happy to see ankylodocus get a new redesign… Im not happy tho that we need to pay them again it is just disappointing, if it was a expansion i would let it slide, but its not even that, its just a pack, the 3 old hybrids should have come for free and we should have got 3 new hybrids instead, another skip pack for me, these last 3 packs were a total disappointment in my opinion, if only they decided to create the CC pack after s5.

I mean I don’t really care how underwhelming the DLC is because even though 3 of them are from Jwe1, one has a new model, all of them have lux skins, as well as 1 new species with lux skins, and 2 lux skins for existing creatures. Now I’m sorry but I am hyped. And just saying in my opinion this DLC will not be worth $10.00 but more like $6.00 I still can see why you have to pay because it is extra content that is not in the base game. And the main reason they have you pay again for the Jwe1 hybrids is because they did add extra lux skins.
Part of me will miss the derpy Ankylodocus. At least he was funny and memeable. The new design looks better, but seeing an Ankylosaurus head slapped on a sauropod looks a bit cursed. The other hybrids are whatever. I’m not a big fan of hybrids in general. I’ll still buy the pack just because I’m a completionist but it’s safe to say none of these will become park staples of mine. But I also wonder if it’s possible they have more cooking up and are just dumping this out to tide us over. Announcing it so close to release is weird. This doesn’t feel like a normal pack.

I’ve been doing polls on my channel about various aspects related to the DLC, because I’m just so curious about what everyone thinks of this pack with such a strange release.
Yeah the community response is interesting. A lot of folks who are happy just because 'woo hybrids', a lot of folks optimistically thinking something bigger is being worked on. Some folks like me who ar epretty meh about it, and some who are very meh. Evos poll is about 80% like it

You know ever since that I heard that people said we gonna get one more or multiple packs in the future all because frontier lay off some of their workers, and the only that I can do is to refuse here that JWE2 will get one more DLC, I don't want JWE2 support to end, I want it's support to continue like what planet zoo did, I what more DLCs and Updates coming in the future. Their is so much that we haven't got yet, like attractions (boat tours), decorations (kelp, lay-down dinosaur skeletons, etc), and also variant cosmetics (65ma T-rex, Para 2022, Trike 1993, and Raptor 1993).

I never liked hybrids. A DLC with three species from the previous game and one new species, all being hybrids, not for me.

Yeah the complete lack of teasers is odd. From what I’ve seen there was no indication that this was coming, and so close to release is even more odd.

A remodel and one extra animal is not worth repaying for the DLC again. Its a money grab, a tactic worthy of EA Games
