The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge arrive at the Palace of Westminster on Tuesday morning for the State Opening of Parliament.
Prince Charles will deliver the Queen’s Speech in the House of Lords after the 96-year-old Monarch announced she will not be attending this year.
The Queen’s eldest son and grandson will jointly exercise the function of State Opening in their role as Counsellors of State.

I have so much respect for the Working members of the Royal family. Living in the U.S your Queen has always had my greatest respect.
This is actually a very unique situation. The Queen probably watching her son, her heir to the throne, holding this speech, which she would not have been able to, normally. She must be so proud of him.

If you watched the opening live on tv, it was obvious that The Queen could not have coped with the long walk through Parliament or climbed the steps to the throne. Covid seems to have been a factor in her mobility problems.
We missed her, but Charles William & Camilla, were, calm, dignified and wonderful deputies.
Ironic that Charles gave her covid. It will be one of the biggest regrets of his life

We must face facts. The Queen, bless her , has stood firm and resolute since her ascension to the throne, Her Majesty has always shown us the right way to go , the fact she is 96 and still doing what she can to support this country is remarkable, but we won't have her forever and we must make the most of her while we have her. I just hope she can thoroughly enjoy her platinum jubilee because god knows she deserves it.
I think that she is showing the world that the monarchy can and will continue without her at the helm. That is her legacy.

I am not British. But i have loved Her Majesty for so long a time. I pray that she enjoys her life at twilight, and pray that her Jubilee celebration will be without any distraction so she will be very, very happy. Afterall, it will be a celebration of her 70 years as UK's and the Commonwealth's Sovereign. God bless her and keep her away from all stressful people and events.

I think it is a brilliant way for the Royal family to preserve the Royal line. Slowly replacing the Queen with Charles instead of the way the Queen had to take over after her father's death.

Can I just express how much I adore HRH Prince Charles' car of choice? An absolute beauty of a car, the Rolls-Royce Phantom IV. Perhaps the rarest Phantom of them all, only 18 were made, exclusively for royalty and heads of state. The first one off the line was delivered to Her Majesty the Queen herself, and another one to Princess Margaret. I think this was the Princess' car that he used, but I'm not sure.
……and the peasants paid for it !

The Queen's fleet with the odd exception, that was gifted to her or Prince Philip, forms part of the Royal Collection, that Collection belongs to the People & held in trust for them by Parliament. Before you get too excited, The Queen can not sell it, nor can the Govt. The terms of the Royal Collection are that nothing within the Collection may be sold by either party. It includes all hunting grounds & land, many of the Palaces & Castle (Windsor) all artworks, fine China & Porcelain, Crystal & glassware, Gold & Silver plate, carpets, tapestrys, Many buildings, carriages, some of the horses, some jewels & Tiaras. Apart for the Royals own (Inherited, gifted or purchased) incl. Sandringham & Balmoral. Was sold or Given to the Parliament by George lll, to be held in trust for the People of the Realm. The Royals would continue to live in & use the articles & would be paid a certain amount to cover the upkeep, maintenance & Conservation. They would keep adding to the Royal Collection over the years & would be required to host visiting dignitaries, hold Banquets & dinners & host evening drinks etc. It's all in the Audited Accounts published annually. There's also tons of stuff to be found online. Not hard for some one seeik

Charles & Camilla have accompanied the Queen to the State Opening of Parliament before, but this time he's doing the real deal. What impresses me is he has shared this experience with his own Son & Heir. A true show of generosity of Spirit. The worst part of the last 2 years for him, although he has waited 70+ yrs for his turn on the throne & he knows he doesn't have the luxury of time to prepare William for the role. Not too many worries there I think, he does perfectly well naturally & he does Formal & serious, just as well as he does informal & fun & he knows what's appropriate.
He didn’t choose to share the experience with William, it’s required. For the speech to be legal in the absence of the Queen, there has to be at least two counsellors of State present. There are only four counsellors of State - Charles, William, Harry and Andrew. If William wasn’t around, they’d have had to drag either Harry or Andrew over to parliament.

I saw their walkabout in Wales on the news & the girl was doing her best - the grown man she had recently married still just put her down. I didn't like her but I believe she was wronged. The queen needs to take care of herself. Charles can read the speech, while she is in the background, but still bolstering the country.
She’s still reading and signing all the documents daily. She has a meeting with the Prime Minister weekly. She speaks to Ambassadors and other visiting Representatives on Zoom.I think this is great for a person of her age. Reduced mobility should not stop her doing these tasks if she wants to continue. Younger Working Royals should be seen moving into the more active roles.
Prince Charles did a very good job today of reading the Queen’s Speech.

I don’t mean anything disrespectful by saying that the Queen should abdicate after the Jubilee. She needs time to spend at leisure with her horses and corgis. It is obvious that her health does not permit her to carry out Royal duties. Charles needs to become King. He, too, is past the age of retirement. He has worked so hard for so long. The Emperor of Japan abdicated due to health, and he is younger than Charles.

I’m american and close to turning 50 and i just can’t fathom anyone besides the queen- she’s been there in the background of everyone’s lives as the queen of england for at least 2 if not 3 generations - but the time for the changing of the guard and the queen no longer with us is growing ever closer

I have no problem with this at all in fact it’s good for Prince Charles to do it under the guidance of HMTQ,
What I do have a massive problem with is the the taxpayer ( ie; me) has to pay for IPP security for Harry , why, I don’t want him here along with millions of other people, Harry I’d damaging the monarchy, he needs to be stopped from coming to the jubilee altogether he cannot be trust & is coming for footage for Netflix only we can see it as plain as the nose on you’re face
