    Great cars had 997 Turbo 1.5 and a 997 C2S . Looks a great purchase

I have a 997 turbo and yet my almost favourite car is the early Vantage 4.3. Great video.

I would avoid all the 997.1 3.8 M97 cars. The engine is a time bomb. Bore scoring is very prevalent, plus there is the well known IMSB issue, which are not serviceable on the 2005.5-2008 cars. The only 997.1 I would buy (besides a turbo or GT3) is an early 2005 3.6 Carrera with serviceable IMSB. The car still must be bore scoped, but the 3.6 is much less vulnerable to bore scoring. Replace the IMSB as soon as you buy it.

Hi Richard, if you change the offset of the wheels, it will cause a force moment and increase bump steer and contribute to the feeling of a slightly ‘jiggly’ ride - depending how much you change it

    Hi Richard
I have had a 2006 997 Carrera S with factory fit GT3 body kit and 19 inch Turbo wheels - I don’t think I have seen a better combination, but I am of course bias….
My only criticism is the ride even with the standard PASM suspension on normal, it can be unsettling on fast bumpy roads.
I keep thinking the car is probably better with 18 inch wheels, like my 2006 987 Boxster S.
I have had both cars since they were 2 year old and love them both.
I will be interested in the suspension choice you make. 🤔
    Cheers Steve

I've only 911 I've ever driven was a 997.1 carrera 4s. I wasn't impressed by the power maybe I expected too much. It was only a short drive but the handling felt soo stable and the noise was beautiful can't imagine how a gt3 would feel

It’s a straight fit no mods on the 997, 996 I think you have to change the servo. Keep the videos coming!

Saw this car on CC and thought it looked a good buy, but I’m looking for a convertible having sold my Vantage coupe. Will be interested in seeing how you get on with the 997 and how it compares to the Vantage 👍 …and watch out for the deer on the Bayham road 😆

Hello love the content. Was looking at this car on the auction actually. I think its a good steal. However, only thing I saw your exhaust pipes looked very black. Id double check all is well as its sometimes a tell tail giveaway to an engine issue. Hopefully not but car looks amazing!

Lovely car and great video! Would be interested to know how the buying process on CC went, how the car lived up to the description and what the overall condition is (put on a ramp and get a specialist check over) as I'm curious to compare the value/risk compared to buying from a dealer/Porsche Specialist.

    Then bore-scoring struck…

Damn. New engine or did you get rid? I've got a 997.1 that I never seem to drive. It was inspected last year and had clear Bores, leaving it parked probably doesn't help anything

    • @I999-g2s
      @I999-g2s 5 месяцев назад +1

@@matteightytwo I doubled-down and spent more on a new engine than I did on buying the car in the first place. 4.3 litre, titanium rods, forged pistons, Nikasil liners, flow’d heads, longer duration cams and the usual ‘upgrades’ you do when the engine is out. It’s a torque monster now and I use it as often as possible. I’m living that “911 is a usable sports car” concept.

Its odd but that looks like a wide body with narrow body rear wheels.. I cant explain the weak offsets never seen that bad on a 997

Honestly I think a tidy little wing would be best, I’m not mad on the standard deploying wing when it’s up and the duck is trying a bit too hard. Something else for you to mull over 😉
Will be very interested in which way of you go with the coils, slightly longer and definitely softer, keep the ride hight 👍

I'm fed up of comments from people ridiculing EVs who don't know what they are talking about.
Personally, I drive two top of the range EVs, a Jaguar and a Porsche, their acceleration and handling is fantastic, they look brilliant and they are cheap to run.
They need hardly any maintenance and haven't depreciated since I bought them.
Literally the only criticism I could make of them is sometimes, if I really push them into a corner, they can fly off the track and get stuck under the sofa...
