The last radio is very reminiscent of the FT8800, my 8800 is 21 years old and still going strong. It’s only this video that has made me realise just how old mine is.
The problem we have is they gave too much away at foundation level so they skipped vhf and went straight to all the hf allocation, I remember when you went on vhf and couldn't get a free frequency...................now 2 is on life support.
Always liked Yaesu.... 70cms has never been as busy as it is, everyone seems to run at least one hot spot so yes low power and localised...My G7RPG node is on every day...145 alive is always a great event and brings 2m alive, it would be nice if Yaesu brought out a 2m Mobile that had ssb ....great video 73 G1YPQ
Thanks for that interesting news Peter. Do they also cover other frequencies on receive only? For example the marine VHF band and The Aircraft Band (although that's AM)?
I like seeing manufacturers doing the best in any allocated frequency. Now then, I see all those keyboards, will we have some music videos forthcoming? 🎉🎉
The dual bander looks something like my ICOM 2730A (shack and mobile) with the controls and display. I bought an 80W FT-2980R from an estate sale only to find out the finals were toast. Luckily a local Ham works on radios and has the parts ordered. I am somewhat skeptical of using full power on more that 50W on VHF now.
The only radio(s) with s.s.b. / cw are the Icom IC 9700 & Yaesu FT - 991(a). Unless you go second hand of course. Would love to see a replacement from Kenwood, the likes of the TS 2000x.
Hi Pete, another great informative video, the price points are pretty good, does the dual bander to cross bans and I wonder what he actual sensitivity spec of these radios please , it’s giid to know also that o/p on uhf nearly match the vhf o/p, as you know recent rains are generally 50w on 35w on 70cns . 73s mark G8rde
Hi Mark, i don’t have any other info. The sensitivity of the modern FM radios are very similar. However, the noise reduction could make them effectively more sensitive than the competion.
@@watersstanton again thanks would be great for someone to demonstrate the new clarity with repeater use . Maybe you can talk from your nice van station and film the results. 73s from WC4FM .
Very interesting and thought provoking, Yaesu maybe realise that there is still a market for radios with good BBC audio quality! Enough said ! Oh but, I am really looking forward to your on the air tests with these new models and maybe hearing a weak FM signal pop up out from the noise. 73, Martin GW3XJQ.
Totally agree with you, we need a push to get 2 meters and 70cms more popular, I’m guilty of abandoning 2 meters, but have now got my old gear backup and running, yes it’s quiet! But it’s picking up slowly.
Around here in South Wales 2m is so quiet that you can't tell the difference between having an antenna connected to the rig or a screened dummy load.

Thanks for this from America!!!
You are welcome from UK.
I'd like to hear a contrast between weak signals with and without this processing.
So would I

Amen to that. from Upstate NY USA
SSB?

Please consider opening on Saturday.
Same. Find it ridiculous, given that most people work Mon - Fri..!
My local club has a net on 70 cm every Thursday night. It’s a social time.
I would much rather see Yaesu create a competitor to the IC 9700. We seem to have been waiting forever for one.
Super DX needs both stations with the DX features.
no, that is not the case. It works similar to normal noise cancelling on base station transceivers.
@watersstanton thanks for the info. Might try one if these radios out.
Thanks for the early updates. Much appreciated. 73 Richard - G6EQJ

No details of rx coverage in the pre-release info.
@ 👍
Would be great to have ssb on the new radio then it would be worth buying

Your videos are always a good view.

3rd one seems more applicable to foundation transmission limits.

@ thanks Pete , very interesting signal processing for rf and af . Thanks mark
Hopefully the repeaters can be super sensitive to go along with the super sensitive mobile transceivers
it should improve repeater output clarity.

Yaesu make some nice kit ! what is the specified receiver sensitivity in uV at SNR for these super DX FM radios ?
It would help if they told us what the ASP function does in terms of SNR and sensitivity.
As I explained I could onlyrelay the information released by Yaesu.
@watersstanton Of course, I'm saying that Yaesu need to be less economical with technical information.
Will they really be that much better than an FTM6000?
Please Europe,go back to V/UHF FM! 😢 FM is dead, why? All People are qrv on digital modes, nobody in FM, terrible!

ASP = Audio Signal Processor (maybe?)
I’m afraid yasue is no longer “the radio”. Seems to be playing catchup.
What a waste of resources..
Should make part of VHF citizen band now because it's dead as a amateur band
2 and 70 have died. you will not get that back alive again. so why bother.
Purely HF CW here NO FM... FM sucks!!!
