    I love mushrooms and find that even after I freeze them, they still taste better than canned mushrooms. Have you ever frozen something you were not sure would freeze well?

    Thank you, thank you Jenny! I got about five pounds (yes that much!) mushrooms from our local food drop. I don’t care for them but my boys sure do. Since I only cook them for my boys, I didn’t know how or even if I could freeze them. Your video explained so well. Thank you so much!
    Oh!, I found your channel by searching freezing mushrooms. Popped right up!

    Great video. Your video makes a lot of sense as far as cooking before freezing. I would fry floured morel mushrooms and freeze what I don't eat in a vacuum bag and they were just as tender and good 6 months later when I took them out of the freezer and refry them. But if they are floured, DO NOT thaw. Just put them in a sizzling hot skillet with butter.
    I don't think you want to dehydrate button mushrooms either because when they soak in water they are tough as shoe leather. So all those are good for is the broth from them.

      Where do you find morels? Just kidding. I know you never tell where they are unless you find them in a store. 😉

    You dont need to do all that I buy a2.5 kilo tray of mushrooms , put straight into freezer , take 3 _4 out put in microwave for 40 - 55 seconds slize and fry , just like fresh . I have done this for 30 odd years

    All the other methods say fry em on high fire a couple minutes and thencool em off or cook them in water and then throw em in icewater, going to try this.

    You didn’t wash them there is dirt on them 😮

    • @imthebossofme63
      @imthebossofme63  Год назад

      According to Bon Appetit:
      But if they need to be kept away from water, then what's the best way to clean mushrooms? The emphasis is on "clean"-which isn't the same as "wash." We recommend starting with a quick inspection before you get anywhere near the faucet. If you’re buying boxed mushrooms from the grocery store, you’re most likely going to get a squeaky clean box. After all, most mushrooms are grown in indoor farms, not harvested from the wild. Unless you see any glaring bits of dirt, you’re ready to get cooking.

    How long can you freeze them for

    • @imthebossofme63
      @imthebossofme63  5 лет назад

  • @Tittlesnhizmouf

    Did you wash them before sauteing?

    • @imthebossofme63
      @imthebossofme63  4 года назад +1

      Tittlesnhizmouf thank you for asking. I have heard that with mushrooms, all you should do is brush the dirt off. This is because mushrooms are porous and will soak up water unlike other veggies with a skin. However, considering how many veggies have been contaminated with bacteria over the last several years, I don’t think a rinse will hurt. I am cooking them before I freeze them so this should kill any nasty critters that decided to tried to hitch hike into my house though. Have a great day and stay safe! 💕
