1. The fact that it was your Mother's and also the story behind it. I regret not keeping some of my Mother's clothing, so this choice was very meaningful for me ... ❤😊
Do you have any photos of the clothes your mum wore? If you do, you might be able to find some pieces that are inspired/ similar/ recreations so that you can feel that connection again. I don't have any clothes that my great grandmother wore (who was a big part of my childhood) but she loved knitted wool sweaters, so every time I wear a wool sweater it makes me think of her. Which makes me feel better about her being gone. I hope this helps.
I appreciate that you’re trying to help. I’m a plus size person and it’s been impossible to find anything vintage In clothing. But I do find some accessories
The only thing plus size I can find are vintage patterns. I have been watching a lot of sewing videos. I’m hoping to use vintage patterns to make clothes.
There were no plus sizes back then, a 14 in the 1950s is equal to a size 8 today and that was considered extra large. You’ll have to sew if you want anything larger.
@@saiman6838 obesity was 10% so you are correct there were a small percentage of larger bodies but they didn’t sell clothes in stores in sizes larger then 14 which in today’s sizes would be an 8. So those that were larger had to sew their own clothing because they were not commercially available. Obesity rates are now over 3 times that.
I've been watching your channel for a year now and I just want to let you know that you've inspired me to start caring about how I dress and shopping for outfits and not just baggy clothes. I feel so much more confident and beautiful now than I ever have and it even helped me with my health journey to losing weight. I'm 37 lb down and I'm happy that I can find cute clothes to wear that fit me better. (I'm in a size 20/2x now). I don't know if you're going to see this comment, but I want you to know that you mean a lot to me and many others like me. 💛 thank you.
Andrea, sounds like a wonderful challenge you would be great at? What about a video with plus size friend, and taking us all to a chairty shop with both of you! That way, you could give us more outfit inspo with a broader range for your viewership and we get to see how you shop to find these inspiring pieces. So many great tips and trips could come out of it. You may even break it up into a shopping video (part 1) and a styling video (part 2) I bet we'd all LOVE it ❤❤
✨💖✨OMGosh-I love them all! They were classy, snazzy, and I would have _lived_ in that black dress. What a perfect dress to take on vacation! But the pink dress was just so sweet on you. And your mom’s top is lovely. I have scarves from my mother and sister, even two from my father. I treasure them all. Even though I’m, older and lives in a rural, wooded area, I still enjoy adding a splash of color to my woodsy wardrobe. Andrea is just so much fun!
They are all so cute. You blew my mind with the pink one with the broach because it made that dress so unique and original! Now I'm interested in broaches
I adore the red outfit. I usually go for all black with a pop of color. But that red was devine and love that it was the top your momma was wear when she landed daddy. Im plus size but ive learned so much on how to style an outfit instead of just wearing clothes ❤
❤ all of them. There is something so dynamic and spectacular about the scarlet red ensemble!!! Love that you have the top and share the story of your mother wearing it. ❤
First, I loved the silver earrings you were wearing before you started modeling your vintage looks. They were beauties! Second, how lucky are you, to have such a special item from your "Mummy's" wardrobe and your parents shared history to weave into your own wardrobe now?! I wish I was the same size as my dear Mom; I would love to be able to wear her "going away" dress as a cocktail, dinner or theater dress today. It is in the 50's full skirt with fitted bodice style, sleeveless with a wide cummerbund and a slight notched V neck with three round cut glass buttons at the bottom of the notch and in the center of the cummerbund. It is made of matching fabrics of a satin underlay and chiffon overlay. The design is large celery green and orange flowers on a cream mm background. We weigh about the same, but my frame is broader than hers. It's such a beautiful dress and would fit in so well with today's retro look. I've also been thinking about how much it would mean to me to be able to share this special dress that my Mom wore. Since I'm 60 now, I know there are no "Grands" coming along who might be smaller than me, might fit into the dress and might be interested in it, so I'm thinking of having it altered to fit me. And I should do it sooner rather than later so that my Mom can see me in it while she's still alive (she's 91). I just had a marvelous idea while typing this! For years, I've told my husband I want to renew our vows on our 20th or 25th anniversary and that I wanted a new dress for the occasion because I didn't buy a wedding dress when we did marry (I had a lovely dress and we had the most perfect, happy and beautiful wedding I could have asked for - 17 years later and our family and friends still say it was the best and happiest wedding they ever attended), but I started thinking I'd like a ceremony with a dress (not really a wedding gown, but something vintage that I'd be able to wear again) of my choosing where I didn't worry so much about the cost of it. Anyway, as if you hadn't already guessed, I could get my Mom's going away dress remade for our vow renewal ceremony! I think all it would take is to remove the zipper and add a corset back to it to help it accommodate my larger frame. It would be so perfect, especially as my sister has decorated a bedroom in her house in memory of all the brides in our family and she has our Mom's wedding gown on display. Now I can have her "going away" dress for my own memories. This long convoluted comment has led me to a very happy idea and vintage ending! Thanks for your post, Andrea! And, your first outfit, with your Mummy's blouse was my favorite. Whoo-hoo sexy slit in that skirt! 😊❤
I LOVE the pink upside down tulip earrings the most. The first outfit is so lovely, as well as the first second outfit... classy "and I like it!" ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The first outfit was stunning! The colour really suits you! The second black dress very classy & elegant with all the different accessories & thirdly pretty in pink.❤🖤💖
Either the black maxi dress with the pearls, because I love pearls, or the pink mini dress with the brooch. I would never have thought to do that with a broach. I absolutely love it! The skirt and top are in a whole other league. The way the colors matched over the generations was just brilliant.
I couldn't pick a real favorite... as you are so beautiful & your impeccable fashion sense really makes it difficult. But I'm leaning toward the dress, pockets a plus, with vintage accessories... oh & the full skirt...I like flouncy things!
Vintage and thrift shopping are my favorite. It used to be to save money, now it's to find unique items or items I don't mind changing a bit. Love all your looks and ideas❤
I really liked the black dress and all the ways she styled it. All the outfits were gorgeous but I actually want that dress now lol. It’s not everyday you find a nice pretty dress WITH POCKETS

Me too! As a short, plus-sized woman I find sewing my own unique clothes is the way to go.
There were no plus sizes back then, a 14 in the 1950s is equal to a size 8 today and that was considered extra large. You’ll have to sew if you want anything larger.
Fat bodies apparently didn't exist according to the above 🙄. We existed then and exist now. Vintage clothing just hasn't survived as much it seems.

I loved loved the first. I love how the slit in the skirt somewhat matches the drop in the top. The second dress was amazing, so versatile.

That sounds like a wonderful idea.
Great idea! I'll be watching 🙏
Sounds like an excellent idea, I would watch too.
The first one is giving high 80s fashion and I ❤️🔥 it!!!
The black dress is breathtakingly beautiful 😍
It really is. With the red accasseries it looks phenomenal🎉🎉
The pink dress with black accessories is very Goth Princess and it works for you Andrea!
love the broach on that pink mini dress with strappy vintage shoes.....but they're all lovely!
I’m a sucker for a dress with pockets 🤩
Pockets pockets pockets!!! Why is this so hard to understand, designers? 😂
Same!😍
My favourite outfit was the black Halara dress with the red accessories. Gorgeous!
Honestly, I'm actually really HEAVILY considering buying that black dress and pink mini one you showed, they're EXACTLY like what I would wear!! 😍
My 5-year old absolutely loves this chanel and she thinks the black dress with red accessories was the best
All of the outfits were gorgeous. I think the black dress would have to be my favorite. The versatility of it is a selling point for me.
#2 with red. You make everything gorgeous though 😃
Again they were all cute. I preferred the long black dress with the pearls. Classy
I liked the pearls too
LOVED the black maxi dress with the red accessories.
I love the first outfit with your mama,s top,and the last one,the pink dress
Same! I wonder if Belinda would go with the pink one, too. 😍
@@babblebetter - She might crush the velvet.
@@babblebetter of course it can!
@@MossyMozartis that velvet? Doesn’t seem like it to me. She also put this belt over it so I think it wouldn’t crush or she wouldn’t add Scarlet…. 🤔
Favourite was definitely the red outfit. A smashing outfit & I love the personal connection to the top.

Your joy brings me joy. The first black outfit.
I LOVE the 2nd outfit. That dress is to die for!
Love the 1st!
Red Halara skirt with your mom's top was *beautiful* and the personal history made it *perfect* 💖
Pink with the brooch or the mummy shirt outfit were my favorites, but Andrea looked great in them all.
The first one is stunning. I also like the last one with the brooch.❤
1. Was my favorite+
The pink velvet dress, I would so wear that!
Love the pink with the broach.
Also love the history of the top for your mum and dad❤
They are all so cute. You blew my mind with the pink one with the broach because it made that dress so unique and original! Now I'm interested in broaches
#1. Mummy's top is the best!! Beautiful
Right?! Of course! 🫶
I adore the red outfit. I usually go for all black with a pop of color. But that red was devine and love that it was the top your momma was wear when she landed daddy.
Im plus size but ive learned so much on how to style an outfit instead of just wearing clothes ❤
I’m so glad you are getting affiliates 👍🏼
❤ all of them. There is something so dynamic and spectacular about the scarlet red ensemble!!! Love that you have the top and share the story of your mother wearing it. ❤
I really loved the burgundy outfit and the pink mini dress with the vintage brooch 😍😍😍
I loved the black dress with waistcoat. You looked like a million bucks
The first outfit was the best.
Especially with the history behind the top!
I like the pink dress with black accessories❤❤❤❤

I truly love watching you work. I can appreciate all the work it takes for you to give us great videos. Thank you

I loke the black maxi with the red accessories. That is so me. The pink with the brooch is fun if I were younger. They were all great outfits.
The first outfit was stunning! The colour really suits you! The second black dress very classy & elegant with all the different accessories & thirdly pretty in pink.❤🖤💖
Let’s talk about those divine pink earrings you’re wearing at the beginning! Vintage? Fabulous!
Either the black maxi dress with the pearls, because I love pearls, or the pink mini dress with the brooch. I would never have thought to do that with a broach. I absolutely love it! The skirt and top are in a whole other league. The way the colors matched over the generations was just brilliant.
I love all the styles but the pink with the broach was my favorite
I love them all but black dress with red necklace looks best on you :)
I love the first outfit with your Mum's blouse!
Pink halara dress with black choker
You look fabulous in all of them. However the first one, with you Mother's shirt. Just wow!!!❤
Oh goodness! Outfit 2 is😍😍😍😍😍😍
Those earrings are stealing the scene - gorgeous!!
I couldn't pick a real favorite... as you are so beautiful & your impeccable fashion sense really makes it difficult. But I'm leaning toward the dress, pockets a plus, with vintage accessories... oh & the full skirt...I like flouncy things!
The first outfit is my favorite. Andrea is so pretty with the perfect figure that an old sack would look nice on her.
The first outfit. Then the black maxi with red accessories. It all looks good on you.
Pink with the black accessories 🩷 🖤
All of the outfits were pretty, but that first one was fabulous. Jewel tones and autumn colors look great on you.
The mums top and skirt combo was 🔥! But all of them were lovely!

First outfit with the wine colored skirt. Amazing ♥️
I really liked the black dress and all the ways she styled it. All the outfits were gorgeous but I actually want that dress now lol. It’s not everyday you find a nice pretty dress WITH POCKETS
The long black with red, or with pearls, are my favorites. Those are closest to something I would feel good wearing. 😊
