His feet work is great but not ahead of his time. You just don't listen to swing or big band from the 40s and 50s. Some drummers back then were crazy with triplets, quads, double bass and one handed fills way before metal discovered it.
I'm not a drummer but I'm in ABSOLUTE AWE at this man's Timing....Those accents with the band as they played were beyond Phenomenal!!!! 😮 🥁🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎶 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Just watched the 35th anniversary podcast earlier today. Dennis mentioned that he learned this song on the plane, traveling to this gig. Dude's a freaking legend.
I met him in Oakland before a show. Super chill guy, gave me an autograph, let me hang with him and John Blackwell before the show. I was a wide eyed 25 yr old at the time.
I didnt realize his hand action was so clean. He goes from Trad to matched a lot...His ride sounds like a ping, not a jazz ride but its cool...I didnt realize how clean he played...very cool video!
It was at around 8:14 seconds and they didn't miss the cue. He played his solo for as long as he wanted to and brought the rest of the band in with the count.
Sorry but you’re wrong. As mentioned above, he played the solo as long as he wanted to and counted the band back in. This is how it was rehearsed. @@henrireichmann7595
Check out Dennise playing to a TOOL song where he hears it one time with the drums left out and then he adds his interpretation and it's close to Danny's playing but it's still all DC.
Disagree - BR was all about BR - he played fast chops and rudiments at 100mph but that was it.. no real flair to his solos imo just the same thing every time every tune culminated with a 20 minute solo. It was never about the music but all about Buddy Rich.
@@nchcroy3877That's not true. Have you ever actually watched a Buddy Rich concert? He would play one extended drum solo per concert which was often during the West Side Story medley. That's where he would pull out his set pieces. Due to the numerous versions of that solo on RUclips, many people think that solo is all he was about. Of course other tunes were written and arranged to feature the drums and drum breaks, but Buddy was one of the greatest time keepers and accompanists to ever drive a big band. He featured all of his musicians and when it came time for them to solo he gave them ultimate time and swing to support them. He was all about the music. ruclips.net/video/QRKc90kuAaE/видео.htmlsi=g70-aj3AWj_BC8BV
My opinion is, this is Big Band concept, in this concept BD should be louder than the Quartet or trio format. But thats a bit more loud, i think its about the Denis’s playing style. Hes more like a fusion drummer and they use BD louder. Actually similarly i noticed that HH pedal is always counts all the quarter notes i think thats more weird for me. But hes a legendary player , if he feel that way thats OK
Because that’s him just playing his own style. Frankly, it’s all about the drums in this concert so, I get it. But yeah, technically, he should’ve been dynamically softer with it.

The second solo is truly one of the most underrated drum solos in history. The shit he's doing with his feet alone is just, so far ahead of its time..
Agreed
Dennis is without equal in my mind. The stuff he could do in his younger days defies belief. His hand speed alone is off the charts.
His feet work is great but not ahead of his time. You just don't listen to swing or big band from the 40s and 50s. Some drummers back then were crazy with triplets, quads, double bass and one handed fills way before metal discovered it.

Hi, Ryan! Which podcast are you referring to?
His H-Hat foot work is off the charts! Geez!
No one else can sound like that, the way he hits that snare is signature damn this guy flys
Yeah …. ok He “BAD too ! Drummer !!!
I play “ a little bit “ i know one When I “ SEE ONE “ !!
Beautiful tunings of each drum and brilliant cymbal array-a symphony of pure bliss and power.
Fantastic! When Chambers plays it just all seems to come natural without even working up a sweat.
Probably my favorite living drummer.
❤❤❤ DENNIS NEVER DISAPPOINTS
Fantastic! Well done with the remaster 👌
Dennis Chambers great musician
What a Power!! Great!!
Very big Memorial for Buddy!!!
Dennis Chambers is nothing less than super human. I'd be lucky just to stand next to this guy.
I met him in Oakland before a show. Super chill guy, gave me an autograph, let me hang with him and John Blackwell before the show. I was a wide eyed 25 yr old at the time.
I stood behind his kit at a gig with Wooten. It was cool. I'd recommend it
@@colinburroughs9871 Pft . . . that's incredible! To be near those two men is an extreme honor! Wooten is in his own category of bass musicians. :)
@@Mcgovern124 You are one lucky human!
That was wild. Excellent!! Thank you for posting this video.
I've never heard a trombone player hit ghost notes in a solo. Well done sir.
Hugh Fraser
The way he comes back in at 8:08 is absolutely filthy
Love the sound of Dennis snare
This is the first Dancing man I´m dancing with :-) This is insane playing and I love it from the first hearing!
Aw man!! Dennis Chambers is 1 of my drummers of all that performance what he did is awesome!!

Brilliant work - a classic just got better 👏
Como esse cara não é o melhor baterista de todos os tempos?
those four on the floor bass drum is special - never heard anyone play it that loud
Monster!!!!
ledies & gentlmen: Mr. Dannis Chambers! Chapeau
You don't have to be locked into any style and still be able to be grateful for this piece of history...
The drummers are great, but what about that bass player?!!! That dude is setting a pocket, too.
That’s Tom Warrington. He was one of buddy’s many bass players and taught a UNLV for many years.
I didnt realize his hand action was so clean. He goes from Trad to matched a lot...His ride sounds like a ping, not a jazz ride but its cool...I didnt realize how clean he played...very cool video!
Ice Cube a great drummer!
THE BUS TAPES!!!
😅😅😅
Amazing
He’s swinging on an earth ride
How come the whole band missed their cue at around 08.25 and he had to count them back in? Absolutely nuts drumminh all the way through.
