  • We're on a camping trip to Lodgepole Campground in Sequoia National Park. We take a stunning hike through the towering redwood forest to visit the General Sherman Tree - the largest tree on Earth. As usual, we do some great camp cooking - grilled Tilapia, Pimento Cheese hamburgers and Blueberry Cobbler.

    Did you stay in the upper loop? I'm looking into different campgrounds there and also noticed the Sentinel campground. Not sure if you ever stayed there

      We stayed at Lodgepole site #158. I’m not familiar with Sentinel campground.

      We were there in April. I’m assuming you have reservations… I believe the campground closes for the season at the end of November. It’s already getting lows into the 20s F. Have fun!

    What tent did you use on this trip?

  • @ThePlacesWhereWeGo

    Our favorite National Park. Still waiting (for two years) for the Lodgepole to open up again for the summer. At least reservations are available at this point on a 30 day window.

    • @tcsadventures
      @tcsadventures  3 года назад

      What hikes did you do there? The next video will have our hike to the falls, but there were a lot of other hikes we didn’t have time for.

      @@tcsadventures We hike Tokopah Falls on every visit to Lodgepole as its a fairly easy and accessible walk, especially when we have guests with us. Last visit, we ventured on the Twin Lakes trail, but reached a point where the water was just raging in the river and it was too precarious to cross, so didn't quite make it to Cahoon meadow.

    Great video. Question, did you have to book the site ahead of time or was it first come first serve?

    • @tcsadventures
      @tcsadventures  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! We had a reservation and I believe a reservation is required there. I don’t know if there are any first come first serve campsites at Sequoia. My wife makes the reservations on line as soon as that time period opens up. They fill up really quickly!

      The site we got there by the river is one of my favorite sites from all the places we’ve been camping. Listening to the river at night inside the tent was amazing! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Those trees are incerdible... as is those dishes you both made... I'm hungry now lol. Do you ever use the Jeep air mattress and sleep in the Jeep, or is it too difficult with storing the other stuff you pack for the trip?

    • @tcsadventures
      @tcsadventures  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! No we just use the mattress in the tent. There’s so much more room in the tent with 2 people. In fact, I’m going to get a bigger mattress. The one we have is designed to fit perfectly in the Wrangler. It’s ok, but we would like more room. Plus you have the issue of making space for the mattress. In Mammoth we put most of it in the bear box and outside next to the Jeep. I’ve been looking at Queen size mattresses and I’ll get one before our next camping trip.

    • @VentureAHighway
      @VentureAHighway 3 года назад

      @@tcsadventures makes sense. I love the idea of the Jeep air mattress but I imagine running into the same issue you did, plus the Jeep air mattress is about 4x the price of a normal one lol

    • @tcsadventures

      It was 158. I think that arguably the best campsite in there. That is one of my favorite campgrounds and I love Sequoia National Park. If you go - drop me a comment. Thanks for watching and I hope you like some of our other camping videos!

    • @tcsadventures
      @tcsadventures  3 года назад

      I think the national park campgrounds are all laid out pretty much the same. The sites have restrooms nearby and have a fire pit and table at each site. Watch the other camping videos I’ve posted for places you might was to go.

      They take reservations. When they open up reservations for the time period you want - you have to jump on it because they go fast. (on line) It opens up for reservations several weeks before the date. Hope that helps!
