      yeh and u can swap ur ship to any other the same price for free every 24 hours. but if u whant some AUEC i send ya . in the old days when all i had was a starter i made it my gold to just brake in to other player ships and steal one of ech ship for a joy ride. or do the same with NPC ones . u dont keep em yet when u log off tho. if not sure what risk 45$ theres the free to play weeks. a 15$ upgrade gets u very good bang for the bulk, do it bit of everting Aegis Avenger Titan . tho u can rent a Aegis Avenger Titan after one on foot 15min mission in game to. Fun depends on what u like to do in a sandbox. seems there allways one person that will just spawn and give u theres to fly if u ask. or u can make monye being some one elses turret guner on there big ship. and get payd that way.

      That is not what Tony asked. Is it fun to grind up from an Aurora right now? No. Especially when aUEC (not to mention other items like weapons and armor) disappear from accounts randomly. And for someone who has limited time to play, banking up millions isn't worth the trouble when it could disappear from my account the next moment.
      The Aurora is buggy and awkward just to hop into and out of on a safe pad! Have you flown an Aurora for any significant length of time? Don't give people unrealistic expectations to get them to buy in.
      I am enjoying this game, but not y'all's bullshit about it.

Dong foot at SPK for 21,000 $ and space combat for 20,000 . stick on 2 more guns on its good for PVE combat . no problem. one 15 min mission and I can rent a Titan for 15,712 $ hand mining tool and ROC are cheep. I will say that if ur getting low FPS on ur PC . Now that's NOT fun. sorry if u getting problems makeing $$ with ur aroura not sure how ur using it. I not mind send u UEC for a ship if u want

    That point in 2016 was the golden age for Elite, we all had so much hope for the future as we could see just where the game was going. Then that moment was gone with the release of the engineers, an obscure casino-esque mechanic for getting upgrades, but not only that, to play with the upgrades you had to spend endless hours collecting random bits of junk without knowing where to gather the specific materials from....The rest was history after that point

    There are player-made boxing tournaments, where you pay to board an 890 Jump and watch boxing matches, bet on fighters, and you have to wear civilian clothes. The fact you can do this is due to a well-designed foundation, and I cant wait to see what they do next. With medical gameplay coming those boxers will need to be treated in the med bay before their next round of fights. We could do relays on a planet where you run with a plushie animal, and hand it off to teammates trying to see who first gets their plushie to the end. The fact you can do that is mind-blowing. The possibilities are literally endless, and any event you do that gains CIG attention becomes part of the lore.

    To achieve all of this that you just described in your video, is not a simple task, and as much as these seems things that should be working in any game, they are not, the "simple" ship interior, is something that requires a lot of work and time, designers concept artists 3D modelers as well as all the programing of all the functions the ship will perform, is just a small example on how complex that "simple" thing can be, considering the quality in each city, station, planet, weapons and armor models, there is simply no way the guys at Frontier would just pop out and say, here, now Elite does all you can do in SC and more, it would either be a greatly simplified equivalent, or just not have many features that SC players take for granted now.
    This is in no way a defense for what Elite did with Odyssey, but a clear indicative of the degree of complexity and ambition that the guys at CIG and Chris Roberts are shooting for, and successfully bringing into a real thing, the more the time goes by, the more said "impossible" things come online, and the game keeps advancing and improving.
    What you can do in the game now all in a seamless and immersive way, is because of all the time, money, research and development, and even failures of the team at CIG, coupled with the intent to not cut or simplify too much or remove things from the ambitious pitch they had back at the beginning, not to say it all will be perfect, but man this game is an impressive technical achievement.

    • @CouchCit
      @CouchCit 3 года назад +11

      Very true. This is why I feel like Frontier ultimately made the wrong decision in trying to implement space legs, even if it was planned since the early days. They didn't play into to their strengths, which is being a multi-platform sim-pit space game with VR support. Imagine if they had focused solely on improving graphics, physicalizing ship interiors, adding more ships and making it all VR compatible, instead of trying to chase SC and NMS? ED should've just tried to be the MS Flight Simulator of space games .

      @@CouchCit Yes, or only release such a thing when they knew they had potential to at least be a fun thing, for sure they knew the feature wasn't ready yet, and they still put it out, happened with Cyberpunk pretty much the same way as well as other games.

    • @Vpaid
      @Vpaid 3 года назад +5

      It's also worth pointing out that this video features ships and vehicles that cost millions of in-game currency or thousands of dollars in real world currency. They are not just available for new players at the start and the grind to earn in-game currency is real. RUclipsrs are often given free ships to show off for the purposes of advertising the game.

    • @eavdmeer
      @eavdmeer 3 года назад +13

      @@Vpaid I have quite a few of these ships as well, and I started out with nothing but an Aurora a month or two ago. Yes, you have to work for the money, but having played 2000 hours of Elite Dangerous, I know how to recognize grind when I see it. This isn't it
      I have never once felt like I had to grind. Most ship modules can be bought for ten minutes of 'work' in game. Elite has ship models that cost over 100 million! And then they are basically still useless without engineering. So agreed:you don't just get these ships for free, but you can engage in most of the game loops pretty effectively with a starter ship and move on to something better is just a couple of days.
      If you can't afford to buy them, a great number of the ships can be rented for a very fair price. This way, you can easily make back the rent and then some!

I won’t come across someone with some level 5 engineered everything that I can’t even scratch. This game is so very incomplete, but it’s still better in almost every way. "Don't get too focused on your personal progress"
    I find this so important to note. Too many people see Star Citizen as the classic "Early Access" title like on Steam where the core of the game is done and now just being built and improved upon. But in reality Star Citizen is an Alpha without the core of the game being done, yet. This is really important to distinguish as yes, you can already do a lot of game loops but those that are in, are not in their final version yet and are due for change and additions. When SC gets in the Beta phase it'd be more comparable to Steam's Early Access titles and could be considered more of a game in which you can have fun and progress with.

      Agreed. SC need to create a culture of 'playing' for fun, NOT playing for 'CREDITS'.
      And one way to do that is jsut creating a really fun world where there are lots of things to do, with ANY ship. Lots of missions, quests and interactions.
      Because ED lacks SO much of the missions front, the only 'missions' that are really left are the ones you set your self, to get the best [X] and grind.

      I only found out about the game in 2015 from a co worker then backed the game back in 2016. It's not a tech demo, but i wouldn't call it a game yet. Right now its more an alpha test bed for SQ42. Eventually it will be a game, but it still has a lot of growing pains to go through when making something this ambitious.
      And before anyone gets on my case about it being an alpha test bed for SQ42. The projects original goal and purpose was to make a single player campaign along the same vein as the old wing commander games. However the scope and money grew a LOT, so it was decided to make a persistent universe to go with it. Right now CIG's main focus is SQ42 and anything that happens to coincide with the PU gets work as well. Also not all teams are on SQ42, just most of them. Not sure if they need server meshing for SQ42, but at the same time the teams working on the networking / server meshing / engine stuff are technically doing stuff for both branches of the game at the same time.

    I own both ED and SC, and like you was really looking forward to Elite implementing ground-based gameplay. ED is a huge universe with lots of star systems that look and feel almost identical - the result was that the sense of wonder ebbed fairly quickly. What they did with Odyssey basically cemented that "been there, done that" feeling.
    By comparison, I haven't even seen all of Stanton system yet and no one part of it feels like any other part. In Star Citizen, it's great to just load up and fly without feeling like you SHOULD be grinding out mining or reputation or whatever to get the Next Little Upgrade - hell, most of what I do is play at being Interstellar FedEx Guy, flying little packages from moon to planet to station and enjoying the scenery along the way.
    It's not as "big" of a game as ED, but SC is just a lot more fun... and it's still in Alpha.

Yo9u should try to find some of them near Port Olisar where you go to ship wrecks in space or planets. Ther are 3 type of this and ofthen for the same wreck. There is also a investigation mission into a station derelict where you have to find clues about a guy who is supposed to be falsely accused of the station destruction, according to his mourning wife. You can do it lightly, but if you do you didn't find all of the clues wich brings you to a "bad ending" mission scenario. But if you insist a be really sharp in your inspection, you will get the "good ending". Almost Witcher 3 secondary mission deep, which means a lot. Amazing.

    i have been playing for a while now but this game still amazes me every now and then. Couple months ago i was doing some trade runs with my Caterpillar and eventually ended up at a station on a moon. Went down, approached the station and landed. I went out of the ship, looked around as i usually do whenever I'm on a "weapons free" station, but the area however was clear and i was therefore alone. I start walking to the station, airlock opens and closes, got in to the trade console and i ready myself to start choosing my stuff. Immediately after that i hear this penetrating engine sound from above (a player in a cutlass black) and a ship lands on the landing pad. While this happens, I'm already at one of the station windows looking down at the player leaving his cutlass black so i open up comms and i say ; " Friend or foe!?" I Repeat "friend or foe?" and at the same time i see the player stopping his movement so i think to myself.. this guy is hearing exactly what I'm saying.. and so he was! 3 seconds after;
    "i hear you!, im friend, im friend, don't shoot". I am usually very cautious by nature so i reply back; "come on in then, but be aware that i have a Gallant energy rifle pointing exactly at the entrance of the airlock door so.. just in case you are having any ideas there". The guy leaves the airlock, enters the station with his guns holstered and says " see, I'm unarmed mate, I am just here to trade some shit just like you, if you allow me of course" i reply back, "sure, mate, what's you name? " he replies, "im john what about you?" i tell him my name and we start having this nice little friendly 5 minutes chit chat around how good this and that ship is, star citizen in general and so on and so forth. Eventually he ended up the conversation with; "look i gotta go, so if you dont mind filling in your CAT so that i can then fill in my cutlass afterwards i would appreciate mate".
    This is the moment where, even though it was an extremely unpleasant situation for most of us, i realized how freekin powerful star citizen is as a social game.. and i loved every second of it!
    I replied to him; "no worries john, let me do that so you can fill in the cutty as well". so i did.. i walk to the console, press the button and at the exact same moment i hear john on the back; "Sorry mate, no hard feelings.", and i fall on the floor with 20 bullets on my back.

    I am a long time follower of SC and a backer. I am with you on the dream. It is amazing what they are doing and it will get better. Experience is not acquired with a tree or with points, it is something you have by doing. The environments will get even more immersive, epic stories will be told, and ships will get better and bigger. You will be able to play with even more friends. And this is not a pipe dream, it is happening next year. Also, it is a game that as professions get laid out, they are going to be complex enough, that specialisation will be necessary, scanning, comms, data running, engineering, medical, salvage, ground troops, piloting, farming, physicalised cargo and physicalise loading ships... it is happening. Owning a settlement and maintaining all that interactive equipment, power units, data blades... it is endless. Not only that, but in parallel you have an epic single player story. With this said, it is important to talk about the current state of the game. Be transparent about it. New players have to know what they are getting into, there will be bugs, the game crashes and sometimes it is broken. For us backers we know the experience overshadows the technicals, but it is important to let your viewers know. Said this this year we have a huge tech dump that took years to dev. It is the first implementation of the final tech. From 2022 we will be in a phase that is more oriented to finish the game and less about dev. So stability might improve... we are seeing it with the quick fix crashes with crash recovery, and this is thanks to the state of persistence. I am glad you enjoy the game Admiral :) see you in the verse

    Some folks are used to having a guided experience in games, where they get quests to "go here, do this". SC is not that kinda game. You need to go out and discover it yourself, join a group, and experience some player-driven content. It's surprising how much there actually is to do in SC (when not broken), and that keeps getting added to, albeit slowly. I'm always going on about the similarities between SWG and SC. Both are player-driven sandbox games, and players love and hate the games for many of the same reasons. Immersion is a big part of it for me.

      Planned gameplay loops from the top of my head: Salvage, refueling, overhauled cargo hauling (mass cargo contracts), overhauled trading (functional trading lol), overhauled bounty hunting (tracking targets in a more fun and immersive way), medical, exploration, engineering, on-board refining (which adds to the mining gameplay loop) and racing are the ones coming in the near future (by the end of next year is my guess based off of the progress made with them so far). I'm judging the release date for all of these because they have all been talked about and they are all under development. Farther out probably will be science, news, repairing player ships, touring, passenger gameplay, probably more that I can't remember or don't know. Though as soon as servers become less cringe we'll get Theatres of War, a mixed arms gamemode. That'll help ease the wait for new content by a lot :D

      SC has full FA off already( uncoupled + ESP), and I don't agree that ED flight model is better, it always felt very arcadey to me, Yaw in ED is terrible and doesn't work how a true 6dof space game should. PvP in SC at various points has been the best space combat I have been involved with in any game so far.

    • @___Snake___
      @___Snake___ 3 года назад

      @@choatus Star Citizen does not have FA off, full FA is simply using a Newtonian Physics flight model.....the ESP you mention just allows the curser to follow the target making it easier to aim which makes it even worse in my opinion as PVP should be about skill not enabling in game aim bots to help you

    • @choatus
      @choatus 3 года назад +1

      @@___Snake___ I know what ESP does, I just meant that you can turn all flight assists off. ED does not have full newtonian flight physics either, they had to change it to make it playable, ie the yaw works much differently than it should in real space, it is nerfed massively. this was done to make the dogfighting more fun, just as some things were changed in Star Citizen to enable a more fun pvp experience, they found that full newtonian physics dogfights just ended up with people jousting and turreting, which was pretty boring. The changes in both games made it so that it felt a bit more like fighter jets in space than real space flight but testers decided it was more fun this way. (I was there in Alpha ED testing, and also in the early Evocati PTU tests in Star Citizen). P.S. ESP was put in game to enable joystick users to compete with mouse and keyboard aim. it is not an aimbot, it simply helps with precision aiming with less precise input devices, (there was an outcry that Joystick couldn't compete in pvp with mouse and KB players so they decided to even the playing field and make all control devices viable).

    • @choatus
      @choatus 3 года назад +1

      @@___Snake___ BTW ED has a much worse "aimbot" the gimballed weapons on your ship actually follow the target way more than in Star Citizen, it is much much easier to hit things in ED due to this, you barely even need to aim, you just need to face in the right direction and your turrets do the rest, there is no skill in this whatsoever...... the skill in pvp even with ESP on in Star Citizen is magnitudes higher than what is required in ED. I 'm starting to think you haven't even done any actual pvp in Star Citizen...

    • @___Snake___
      @___Snake___ 3 года назад

      @@choatus again SC does not have full FA you cannot turn off all flight assists off, uncoupled is a half way house, ED does have FA OFF, and seriously you are bringing up gimballed weapons?......Gimballed weapons in SC are a proper cruch as there is no real defense other they are a size smaller than fixed, in ED gimballed weapons are negated easily by chaff or heat sinks (which you should know if you have played ED) which means in ED all decent PVP is fixed only weapons in FA OFF, something lacking in SC, also I'm fully aware the yaw was toned down in ED to help promote roll to simulate airplane dogfights while in FA on , but as stated in FA OFF yaw is pointless as you use pitch, roll, vertical and horizontal thrust and boost 99% of the time to get position against the opposition in a dogfight........but I feel we are going to disagree over this as I'm willing to see the how SC is better than ED in lots of areas as stated in my 1st coms but I can also see how it isn't in others and im happy to play both 😀

A player said he would QT over to my moon and pick me up. I drove my ROC over to the landing zone where he was just before it ran out of power, hopped on his cutlass and he dropped me off at the nearest space station. I remember looking down at the ROC from the cutlasses we ascended into space, fading away into the lonely expanse that is the great burning sands of Daymar. I'd say the most prominent game loop you missed was the crim prison cycle, where a crim ends up in prison and either does hard labor in the mines to work his way out the legal way, or tries to escape. Hacking away crimestat to avoid ending up in prison, or to avoid going back after escaping, is also part of this. You can also plan ahead when being a baddie and hack the comm array to down it so that your crimes won't be logged, or so that bounty hunters won't receive updates on your location. Doing this will generate a mission to bring it back up for the non-crims.
    Another big piece would be the dynamic events, though those aren't always available. They've talked about making this triggerable through in game actions at some point. The two we've currently seen are Nine Tails Lockdown and Xenothreat.
    There's also ground vehicle mining with the ROC, and hand mining in caves, if you want to consider those separate loops.
    There are also a number of unique missions that don't fall into the standard categories, such as Price of Freedom, where you board a Cat that been outfitted as a prison transport ship and break a few of them out. You also have to do a bit of investigation to identify the narc that got them arrested and off him.
    The rest is player-made content, but your imagination is the limit there. The Daymar Rally is a big player-made event. I've seen lots of various versions of demolition derbies, my favorite being greycat sumo on top of a skyscraper. Lots of mock military scenarios where two parties square off. Anything you can think of really.

The magical teleport into your ship and out of it, the lack of EVA and the copy and paste settlements some of which came out with Horizons and find you can't enter them on foot. Yet it's still a long way to be a finished product, and their marketing practices feels like a bit shady, to say the least, selling future ships for thousands of dollars in many cases. Not criticizing what people do with their own money, but this certainly will encourage many impulsive people to spend as much as they can (and can't in many cases). Myself I don't pre-order video games and I definitely don't pay to Alpha/Beta test one, I rather wait until it's a finished product I can fully enjoy. I just hope they finish the game in a year or two, but unlikely.

      @dev null So as someone who isn't nearly invested enough (both in terms of time spent playing and money spent), I am not really sure your assertions have legs to stand on. So let's tackle the first one. You are complaining that you need to buy a game in order to play it. Regardless of one's personal feelings about early access games as a concept, Star Citizen isn't marketing itself as a free to play experience. Like pretty much every other non-F2P game, you actually need to buy it in order to play it. I am not sure why this is a issue with you or why you are trying to characterize it as something especially shady.
      In regards to the whole "shill" thing. If we use this video as a example, anyone who writes a positive review about a product and posts it online is a "shill". Anyone who posts a RUclips video about a product and doesn't actively vilify it is a "shill". In mainstream gaming community circles, the term "shill" has lost much of its meaning and has now just become a lazy, poorly thought out attack against those who happen to not revel in blind cynicism for the sake of it.
      Lastly. let's talk about the "vaporware" thing. Every now and again, there will be some big mainstream gaming media story about Star Citizen that makes its way to the larger gaming communities online and every time that happens, you get a very specific, very aggressive, very devoted subset of gamers that will go out of their way to yell and scream about how it is all a "scam" and that it will all just be "vaporware". All the while. When I do my yearly (or semi-yearly) install of Star Citizen to check up on it, I find that there is always very clear, very obvious forward motion. There are always new gameplay mechanics fleshed out. There are always new bits of content here and there to mess around with. If this is a "scam" or "vaporware", it is the most well developed, elaborate "vaporware"/"scam" I have seen.
      Here is one last thing to consider. Both Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen have largely similar goals. In a mechanical sense, they both are intended to be very similar. It says something that both are pretty large scale development projects and neither of them have reached those goals at this time. This isn't because one or the other are lazy or running some sort of "scam". It is because nobody has really made a game on that scale before and nobody really knows how long such a thing will actually take. In a lot of ways, Star Citizen is closer to reaching its stated goals than Elite is but Elite gets more benefit of the doubt from gamers because so few of them know that what we have in Elite is only a small part of their completed product.
