Unboxing and Setting Up the Hue Play Light Bar

- This is a bit of a nerdy one - but I'm unboxing the Hue Play Light Bar Base Unit and setting it up. Our whole house has Hue lights, so I've already got the base unit and software on my phone set up.
Once I've taken all the goodies out of the box I install the light and set it up for you. It's the first time I've recorded a vlog on my streaming setup, so it's a bit wonky - but you get the idea!

You can use Lumia Stream on your computer to connect to a stream and have the lights do different things when viewers interact.

Got this but I’m disappointed how the bridge is needed to control with my phone. I bought a strip of lights that’s an Amazon brand and I can easily control it via blue tooth. Philip is a big brand name and I don’t know how they didn’t have blue tooth on this.
They are refreshing a lot of their products to use Bluetooth - I imagine this will be one of them!

No, you need the bridge
It will work but you will need a beige to change the colour

Can you connect the bridge no matter if you have the lights on other room? Or does it all have to be on the same room to work well?
It will work fine with it in the other room!

Hey I don’t own any Philips lighting I’m wanting to buy the twin pack of these for behind my tv! I’m just wonder what else I need to buy for these or do I just plug them in and they will work with an app or if I need extras! I’m struggling to understand! Thankyou for the helpful video
You need the Hue Hub and you'd be able to control them with the App.

Yes.. One of these. amzn.to/2RWUlMH - It plugs into your Internet router. You don't need an electrian it's all super simple.

You will need a bridge, they haven't produced a Bluetooth version of this light (yet)

On the strength of you're video...I went out and purchased this same item........thinking because you just switched on and went to the app and were able to change allllllllll the colours TO now find out I have to purchase the hue bridge at an extra cost of £45 to access the app to change colour...you should of made it CLEAR this item wasn't Bluetooth

Hey mate! I just bought 2 lights, but got no hue bridge. Is it possible to set up these lights without bridge, or os bridge mandatory? Would really appreciate answer!
You need the bridge. A lot of the Hue products have been re-released to work via Bluetooth (they have a Bluetooth symbol on the front), I'm not sure if these ones have been re-released.
Can you mount this on a wall?

There's adhesive that is supplied with the mounts, so you can stick them to the wall, rather than drill them on.

Nope, you doing need the Hue Hub

For these, yes, there's no bluetooth version of them yet. Hue are adding Bluetooth to a lot of their products - just not this one at the moment.
Is the hub required for this?
Yeah. Although Hue are slowly making everything Bluetooth compatible.. So these might be available in Bluetooth soon.

@@1337murk You'll be able to turn it on.. it will be a white colour - and that's it. You'll have no control over it.

Do I need some other Phillips item to Bluetooth them?
To operate these with your phone you need a Hue hub. Other Hue Lights have been refreshed to include Bluetooth. These have the Bluetooth symbol on the box.
if you want to demonstrate something i would suggest to video the demonstration rather then yourself

You can add lights by Serial number - sometimes I've had to do that.
Where do you find the serial number for the lights though? It’s nowhere to be found on mine
