- I've been using the Philips Hue Play Bars for a bit now to help with eye strain. I can honestly say that they've helped a lot. Also, having them set to blue daylight white while I work has been very helpful for focus as well.

I rarely like or subscribe, but I am really impressed by the quality of your production and video. Great content! Keep it up!
@@rogerseng I'm here a month later and I thought the same thing. The quality of your videos is insane for your sub count, you deserve way more
Same here
Your video recently popped up in the recommendations and just wow. Watched your video and scrolled down and was flabbergasted when I saw 3k subs. The quality of your videos are on par if not better then people with millions of subs. Its nice seeing small youtubers with great quality vids compared to just a couple years ago.
Yes, they are worth it!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I finally have my setup and couldn't be more happier.
I’ve found none of the reviews for the light bars state that to actually get the app to work as in change the colours on the bars you also need a bridge if you don’t already have one
16 million colors is literally just a marketing spin to say "this is RGB". 255 red values x 255 green values x 255 blue values = 16.6 million technically "unique" colors. But try telling me you see a difference between RGB(255,255,255) and RGB(255,255,254). It's still white.
Still a neat product, just don't expect 16 million colors.
no shit
Hey Roger, do you remember your shutter speed while filming this? becouse i bought a pair of this to use on camera and i have a lot of flicker with anything above 1/40shutter
well you've sold me on these lights! ordering some now!
just what i need after buying one of those LED stripe corner lights from amazon. was totally awful so i'm sending it back!
wow great demo and amazing presentation Keep up the awesome work maistro 🥳🥳🥳🤠🤠🤠
Thank you so much Ariel!
Thank you for sharing your experience, but if I were to place it, I would choose to put this pair of lights on the left and right sides of the monitor instead of the back.
That’s a great idea too. Thanks for watching!
God bless you my dude !
God bless YOU!
Noticed the best selling book sitting on your desk. Same here! Good to see more that share the same faith on here! Great quality video!
love your grade on this video bro
Good set. Good depth of field. Excellent intro clip. Good visuals. But you need an audio upgrade my friend. Try a boom mic. There are decent versatile options out there for not too much money.
@@rogerseng What do you use?
Subbed brother. Great video and great video quality. I’m currently buying gear to start seriously reviewing product, and I hope to one day achieve as clean a video presence as you have. Well done bro.
Cool video! Thanks for the info and uses!!
WOw man solid quality video! Baffled you dont have way more subs. You got one extra now :)
PS pretty sick studio setup all blacked out and with those wood hints, super nice color combo!
Thank you for the review ! :D
Thanks for the video! It was very well done 👍
Thank you❤
Hi, what if I want to use one lamp in one room and another lamp in different room ? Do I need to buy another adapter right ?
Great video. Good luck on the channel
Hmm was there a lag between the color change. Hard to see when you edit your video when the screen changed color and the lights suppose to change color aswell. Should have had one continues recording...
Did you need to use the Synch Box to get the TV to synch with what was showing on the TV or were you able to do that simply with the contents of the box you showed? Also, can those mounts screwed into the center of the Play Bar to allow a horizontal orientation for the Play Bar?
not enough number of lights I think.. are they still at good working conditions ?
Super cool! When I grow up I want to be Roger Seng. But how long have I been saying that now? Alas, it will never come true...
Subscribed, I can't believe you have few subs bit either you are heading on the right path!! Wayyyy better than bigger channels good job! I gotta ask who plays that violin soundtrack towards the end of video @ 545 I believe?
What monitor is that?
Hey dude great videos, what monitor are you using?
One thing i just notice, would it be cleaner if their was a hole in the stand so the wire goes straight through it to the back. Now it curls of to the side, its a small detail but it would look much nicer i guess.
Excellent job! Nice video! Btw, what’s the song you used in the end?
I was wondering do they need the hue bridge for them to fully work ?
Yep
Yes. If you don’t buy the bridge, you can only turn it on and off buy plugging and unplugging
wow this is what i want to buy lights!!
from south korea!!!
Do you need to buy the white box bridge to use the light bars?
do you need philips hue bridge in order to connect those?
do u need the Philips Hue Bridge for the app to work??
Yes.
I truly believe this issue is kind of a marketing trap. You can't find a bright, direct answer to this question even on Philips's web page. And Roger, great video and you can always edit your video to clarify this issue. Please feel free to do that.
Thanks, Roger for the great review. Would be nice if you could give us your opinion on what you think after using it? After all, it is quite pricey for a couple of lights.
@@rogerseng Thanks Roger. That's very helpful. I'm debating on whether to get that for my dual monitor. Like you said in the review, I love that ambient light and less strain on the eyes. Keep up the great work man, I love it.
Buy the 3rd light to mount it behind and at the top.
Makes videos pop even more
If ya want to go all out since like 6-10 in one room for videos lol
Really different experience
great quality video keep it up you’ll make it
Great demo! Gee now I want to buy one. :O
Great video 👍🏻
Great vlog... altho were still a little confused.. we have an ambient tv & have ordered a hue hub with this play bars... will they change lighting to what we're are watching on the tv? Or will we have to purchase temhe hdmi sync box as well...
What the video title suggests, are they worth the hype?
you reckon I can use these for quick key and fill lighting for a zoom call?
START at 1:34 - you're welcome!!
Philips Hue Smart Hub (Works with Alexa Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant) do you know if you can just use the app without this?
no, you need the Hub for them to work, maybe another Zigbee Hub can make them work but not with the Philips Hue app
Nice informative video.. two questions: 1. Do you need the ”hue bridge” to control the light bars 2. Do you think the two light bars can be used towards a Wall behind a 55” tv or do you recommend the hue lighting strip for a tv? Thanks in advance. Keep up with the good work! :)
Yea you definitely need a hue bridge and I think a hue Lightning strip is brighter but more complicated to install
For what do u Need a hue bridge?
No you don't need a bridge for anything demoed in this video.
Can you sync them without the box? I have a bridge and the app, but when i stream netflix from my phone to chromecast, will they sync also?
No. You can sync when watching directly on a PC / Mac using the Hue Sync app (you could plug this into your TV).
Do these come with a controller? Or do you have to have a phone or computer to control them?
No. If you buy the philips hue bridge you can use the app to set brightness and color of the lights.
@@christianj606 i watched so many reviews and still dont understand how it works. ive seen some reviews saying that you need to connect a thing (forgot what its called) to your wifi router and stuff like that. Do I just mount that at the back of my TV plug them into my power strip then it’ll work?
I though you needed the sync box for the colors to change color during game play... and I thought you needed the Hue bridge also to change the colors manually. Would love to be wrong so I could just buy the three light kits! Let me know bud...thanks so much!
Dont know about the sync box buy I can confirm you don’t need a bridge to manually change colour
Did he have to use a syncbox on his pc to get it to sync?
Nope
@@roybrochard1096 Thanks man
You need the "Bridge" though!
@@JuventusStadium87 the bridge yes but not the syncbox
Hey could you tell me what monitor you're using r? I would appreciate it.
LG 34” ultra-wide screen monitor, currently sold at Best Buy.
Are these still a hype?! I just saw these today and then noticed they already were released in aug 2018. They look amazing yet quite expensive but with that hub they seem to have great usage
You should definitely go with Phillips Hue, its the best system if you wanna have everything under the same roof
@@lorenzoloconsole Yeha but i wasnt so happy with the price and if i really like. I went along with the Govee Flow Pro $55 system and uses a camera, no hub needed.
If i really like perhaps then ill do upgrading. Otherwise i waste around $200. Plus i need to ship it to my country and import it, so thats already + $60 or so
only one adaptor...how to get around this if you have one behind your monitor and one behind your tv? My tv is not next to my monitor bruh
Buy multiple base unit kits.
Why sync it to show us a video demonstration then only pick videos that have an overwhelming white? This did nothing to show me how good the sync feature is...
Dang that link is priced at $209 thats a pretty hefty difference vs regular $129
PS you didnt mention it also need that Hue Hub to do most od the work. Without it they only shine orange/yellow lighting right?
"Without it they only shine orange/yellow lighting"
What is the source of this information?
@@Slava-om1sz read it in articles, without the hub you can't control them and they only lit up orange like
Yep even Philips says that you HAVE to have the hub bridge
" Perhaps the biggest downside to the Play Bar is that it does require the Philips Hue Hub for just about everything "
Source Imore.com
And a ton of other websites incl Philips.
@@rikaardyyz3039 Ive ordered the Govee FLow Pro, still waiting for it to arrive. Its a much cheaper model, i first want so see if i really like such setups before i invest a ton of money
@@RomboutVersluijs haven't heard of it but , same just bought new TV, and sound bar and not really into turning the whole house into a " smart one "..
Might even get the white light strips , the ones that are the recommended ambient brightness for about £40. They say 6000 K white light to enhance viewing. The ones I'm looking at for now are the 2nd ones reviewed here !!
ruclips.net/video/6z24f_3rmQw/видео.html
What's that orchestrated song over the synced video?
Click here : 1:45 Thank me later 👍
Barring the intro great introductory video, with a nice aesthetic.
Couple of points :
* 16 million colours is industry standard, common, and years old. It's marketing blurb for the uninformed.
* If you can control brightness, you can control darkness 😉
* This is basically an RGBW strip and controller in a plastic box. It's cool, but hideously overpriced. The mounting options though are a great touch.
* A $20 ZigBee controller, a 5m RGBW strip, and some nice aluminium extrusion would make a nice alternative, for a fraction of the price (think 20 times as many units for the same cost). This would make a very flexible and interesting application, not to mention a fun little project. Full Hue app integration too.
Anyway, thanks for the vid man. 👍
Great video ! Hope you get more views. Do you find that by mounting the two bars behind your computer screen, they light they provide is bright enough?
i watched so many reviews and still dont understand how it works. ive seen some reviews saying that you need to connect a thing (forgot what its called) to your wifi router and stuff like that. Do I just mount that at the back of my TV plug them into my power strip then it’ll work?
You need to connect a hue smart bridge 59.99$ to your wifi router to even change the color of any philips product
You didn't mention it needs the hub :|
I have read that Philips abandoned Hue , also I bought conbee 2 for philips lamps
Am i the only one who bought the hue bars without getting the bridge? :|
Not just you. I have them without knowing. I'm pissed
@@holychadx now to spend an additional $60 lmao
So a total of $190 plus tax for led light when I can buy something of similar function on Amazon for less then $50? Phillips is really squeezing a lot of scam into their HUE line of products. I mean at the time of the idea how did they skip out on Bluetooth?? Time to go searching for another brand lol
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Great video Roger, what monitor are you using?
They are just not worth the price they are not good with watching movies that are on streaming platform everyone who watches Disney plus dose not work
It won’t work with apps on your TV. It will work with the sync box and if you use a console to stream.
@@nikkcaputo5814 yea see should not have to spend money for that dose not make any sense
I was looking at these or something similar,I only wanted some ambient lighting , BUT seems everyone forgets you CAN'T just buy the play bars you HAVE to buy the bridge/ smart box to get them to work ,so while you might get two lights for £110 you have to spend more than that again just to get some lighting behind your TV.
While Philips are good ALL these smart things are a massive rip off.
There's like a %150 mark up so some Dutch friend I know told me !!!
