Aaliyah was actually terrified of motorcycles but she LOVED snakes and dragons.
Aaliyah could definitely belt and had more range than she showcased in most of her songs, she just chose to keep her vocals soft/ relaxed on a lot of her studio tracks. I don’t know if “The One I Gave My Heart To” is gonna be in this Top 5 week, but that song is definitely one of her best vocal moments

When she did Giving Up a Donny Hathaway cover I think was for a movie she was in talks to do with Whitney Houston that just never happened but like a decade later but with Jordan Sparks as lead. ❤

I think the brightness of her outfit was to enhance the fact that she had passed prior to the release of this video. Enhancing the heavenly association of our Aaliyah. This video came out after she passed.
The director, Dave Meyers, says this video was expensive to make. She starts off in the engine, then the headlights, & finally the stereo🔥 It came out after she passed. More than a Woman was supposed to be the 2nd single from her 2001 album but they switched it to "Rock the Boat" because it was gaining popularity. She incorporated motorbikes in her videos a lot but she was scared of them. She is wearing a white Chanel jumpsuit by Dapper Dan. Queen Latifah's partner, Lesley Lewis, is one of the dancers, Mark Ronson is the DJ, & Quincy Jones' daughter, Rashida, is in the video as well.

I still love this song and video. She was ahead of her time. Aaliyah was a softer singer for style and comfort, but could belt and showcased it on her songs (The One I Gave My Heart To, Journey to the Past, Giving Up which was her rendition of a Donny Hathaway song, I Care 4 U, and Street Thing). She also appeared on Star Search as a child and sang "My Funny Valentine" and showcased her belting there too.
