I couldn’t fit all of her hits in this list, but I think these may be some of her best and most important songs. A week dedicated to this legend would be amazing.

This was basically Aaliyah's dance style. She kept it modest and tomboyish in her dancing. There was fast dancing during this era, but what made Aaliyah special was that she had her own style in the era where female RnB singers didn't really dance cool.
The cane (stepping) in the video was a tribute to Kappa Alpha Psi. A fraternity at HBCU’s.
People dress up as her in this outfit every year for Halloween. Thats how iconic this look is.

Guys, Jet Li is in the music video because he was in a movie with Aaliyah called "Romeo must die". They didn't just randomly request Jet Li for a music vid😂. Also fun fact that little dance they do where she is sideways on the wall, is reminiscent of a fight scene in the movie where Jet has to fight a woman but he "can't hit a girl" he says so he uses Aaliyah to fight the girl. He literally maneuvers her body to fight the girl.

Timbaland is my favorite producer. He can always tell it's him whenever he produces.
Speaking on her fashion and her music taste….Fun fact: Aaliyah was a self-described Goth chick. She was heavily into the nu metal scene that was popular at the time and was also a fan of a lot of other rock genres. She was a huge fan of Nine Inch Nails, Korn, etc. This was kinda shown in her fashion style at times.
Also, Jet Li and Aaliyah starred in the movie Romeo Must Die, and Aaliyah produced (executive producer) the soundtrack, which this song is from (as is her songs “Come back in One Piece” w/ DMX, “I Don’t Wanna”, and “Are You Feelin’ Me?”).
In “What If” and “I Can Be” on her last album you can get a taste of what she would have sounded if she did lean into a more rock sound. I think she was supposed to collab on a song with Trent Reznor that they were going to do after Queen of the Damned. I would have lived for a rock inspired album. She just had unlimited potential and genre crossover appeal.

Trent Reznor was supposed to produce on Aaliyah, but their schedules never synced (same with Beck, who was supposed to be on “I Am Music”, the song she’s featured on Timb’s album that Static ended up being on as well).

Literally like once a month I get sad that she died and think about all of the good music that she might have created that we will never hear. I do that a lot for musicians that died early.
The dance break with the canes is a riff on Kappa Alpha Psi (black fraternity). when they do step shows their routines always utilize canes.
Those dance moves and that style of "cool nonchalant dancing" can be attributed to dance choreographer Fatima Robinson. She choreographed most of Aaliyah's music videos. She also gave us the iconic King Tut-style moves from Michael Jackson's 'Remember the Time' music video, she taught us how to 'Rock the Boat' with Aaliyah, and she was head choreographer on Beyoncé's Renaissance tour.

Actually,She was just really becoming big in her career. Timbaland was producing hits for many at that time even the boy bands(Justine Timberlake).He started producing in 1990’s.This song came out in 2000.

They wrote and produced several songs on her one in a million album. Her movie even talks about how their work with Aaliyah got them a lot of recognition and credibility. You can research it too.
