No video got banned like "Dirrty" around that time. It was a scandal in the US, but the UK always has superior taste and the song went to number 1 there.

OMG I was "privileged" to see this video before its official debut many years ago, as I was in the music store industry in the early 00's in Canada at a conference. The looks on people's faces after the screening was priceless....this was right after her Disney era LOL You could tell, even the execs were sweaty after watching it LOL!!

She was 21/22 when this music video was released. This was the first single of her second album (Stripped/2002). She fought with her label to release Dirrty first. And by the way, she already had a Grammy at this age (Best New Artist/ 2000). She was a rebel.

YESSSSSS!!! FINALLY, MORE CHRISTINA... SHE'S AMAZING.
Only one that was kind of sexual around this time (especially the title of it) was "I'm a Slave 4 U" by Britney Spears but even that looked PG-13 to this one. Christina went all freaking out for this one. The vocal on it for an uptempo is insane - I remember dancing to this in the clubs back in the 2000's and god damn it hits hard on the dance floor.

This song came out in Fall '02, it was right around the time I got my driver's license and I remember it was always the first track of all the CD's I burned from Limewire at the time lol. But in terms of sexuality I think this was the "sequel" to I'm a Slave 4 U that came out in Fall of '01.

I was 10 when this came out on mtv for the first time. It was seriously the sexiest video out at the time.. funny how this was too inappropriate compared to what we watch today. Directed by the amazing David LaChapelle! Hes forever been my favourite photographer and videographer. He takes the person, throws them in to a weird and wonderful narrative and brings out a whole fantasy-like story which is forever memorable.
If you look his work up, he did the infamous pictures of Britney dressed as a young teenager, but created a narrative with the whole lolita sex appeal. Rolling Stone printed thos pictures and the bible belt were up in arms, burning her albums!
He also shot the video for 'Everytime' & 'Make Me' by Britney, 'Loverboy' by Mariah Carey and so on.
He also did some incredible pictures of 2Pac, Eminem, Madonna and so on.
Loved this song though and the video is iconic, i just never thought she looked sexy in this....she literally looked dirty like she needed a good scrub! Lol.
