Beautiful! When I was about 10 years old my Dad gave me the books Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Since then I always wanted to run away from home, go to Missouri, build a raft and float down the Mississippi river! Im 50 now and still want to do it! When I was a kid I built a raft (about 5"x8") in our catfish pond at home in east Texas and spent many happy summer days on it for several years.
george madis I am 40 years old and live in South Africa. I loved the two Mark Twain books about Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. I used to pretend that the swimming pool was the great Mississippi river in America. How I loved those stories and I'm a girl living so far away!
I'm 63 and read those books as a lad too. Made my little raft and paddled it around on the lake I grew up near. When you get ready to run the Missouri gimme a shout, I'll go ...
Well, it's still not too late: "... Any river, big or small, just being there, is a permanent invitation to a man (I could add" especially to an ungrown one ", but that would be a redundant statement ) to get some wood and nails, build a raft and explore it.If you grew up with Mark Twain books, this idea stays in the back of your mind pretty much throughout your life.If you do not need to google terms like Kon-Tiki or Deliverance, and consider endeavors like those cool, you know very well what I am talking about without further explanation. Once you realize that common excuses (job, career, kids, etc.) are exactly just that, excuses, you only need to pick a river, find a few oddballs who also think this is a great idea and start gathering wood - it is that simple...." Intro from "Searching for Huck in Balkans" :)
My best friend Jenny is from Sweden. She came to America when she was 14 and her mother died. She is like a daughter to me. She went back 2 years ago to get her visa renewed and she is still stuck there. Swedish people are the kindest people ever! Love the beauty, the colors, the attention to intricate details... everything about this was a wonderful adventure. Thank you for making this video and sharing it with the world! I wish it could've been longer!
I couldn't agree more with your comment. Makes you wonder how the vast majority of us, human-beings, are either distracted by useless, futile stuff or have somehow our priorities misplaced. I've also found this video by chance but I was searching for wooden raft build videos. The chance element refers to the fact that this video popped up on top of the million possibilities. Can you immagine how much beautiful stuff we are missing out on due to random chance?
I came here because I am building a small Contiki raft for fishing, to film for my own youtube channel. However, I can not compete with this. This is just sensational. Well done. LIKED!
My childhood dream come to life. I was a badly abused, undiagnosed autist. My lovely Dad read me Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer when I was 7ish. I read them over and over again and went there in my mind as an escape. I fantasized about running away to the woods and rivers, to float peacefully down a river on a raft, pipe clenched in teeth, feet bare and dirty. Someday, I will.
Excellent story told without words. I could imagine myself on that raft. I can't understand why anyone would give this relaxing story a thumbs down? Some people just can't understand.
Building a large raft like this reminded me of the stories I read as a boy about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn written by Mark Twain/Sam Clemens. Thank you for the calming effect it had on me.
Uau... This is the real good life. Enjoying nature and friends. I'm so envious of you guys. Need to start making some changes in my life before it's too late. Inspiring video, lovely music, wonderful footage and exquisite nature. Pure cinematic pleasure. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring me. Peace and good wishes to you and your family.
Beautifull countryside & you all did a great job creating the raft large enough to put a shelter on top of. Great job filming it as well. Admittedly I got really hungry when I watched that delicious dinner you guys cooked. TYVM for sharing the experience & I hope you all will get to do it again many times
I live right by Klarälven and I have to say; your video is one of the most beautiful expressions of what the river can be I have ever seen. Great work and I hope you had a wonderful time floating by!
myself and a buddy took off on a innertube for 3 days on the Sioux river back in 78 . we both just turned 16 , we had a truck tube you couldn't put your feet over the side it was so massive but 3 days with pump 22 pellet rifles food , beer and all things survival what fun . 16 miles on a river to go 5 miles to next town took us all 3 days it was big Sioux river the angry snake in Sioux language . Ill never forget !
MeldThe Steel it's a package were you go there and get instructed in building the raft the same way the real timber rafters did back in the Day when they where sailing down the river together with all the timber on rafts like these. I have tried it and it was a great experience and very beautiful and peaceful but you will discover that this way of transport indeed is very inconvenient.
Paintball SKILLZ Yes you can cook while you are on board, but i would not recommend it since you hit stuff or have to steer/paddle very often. It would be very sad to end your vacation because you had a pot with boiling water standing in the raft. And then you hit an underwater log and the pot tips over you.
Wonderful! This is an excellent experience along the river Klarälven in Värmland, Sweden. It's also possible to rent ready made rafts. So relaxing. Highly recommended... 👍😀🇸🇪
Absolutely beautiful. That had to be a great time with good friends. I going to do that here is the southeastern US . Since seeing your experience you guys have inspired me.
This looks like the most awesome experience. The raft puts anything we ever built in a rafting activity in Scouts to shame! How long was the trip for? Did any of the lashing come loose at all?
Its amazing, I love it, I like the music, I ❤people activities, I❤the river n much more,,, btw I am from Bali n we dont have the river like this in Bali. Very very nice n actually this is my dream... Oh my god man. 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Did this in 2005 as a one week trip. Unbelievable... and it´s planned to do with our kids in the near future, to show them that great nature and the feeling of freedom..... ;-)
I'm sure that was a great adventure! Well done people! However, I'd like to know do you have any scheme or instruction how to build raft like this one?

Excellent story told without words. I could imagine myself on that raft. I can't understand why anyone would give this relaxing story a thumbs down? Some people just can't understand.

Fantastic screenplay, what a piece of film!
Спасибо за очень душевное видео, просто восторг!
I just wish that they had a video on how to make that raft

Mike 2 Yeah even a canoe is waaaaay more convinient
Mike 2 No the ones they have in the video are canoes. Over night SUP sounds really fun by the way, i love normal SUP.
MeldThe Steel I think it's better you can walk around on it and cook too and a lot more
Paintball SKILLZ Yes you can cook while you are on board, but i would not recommend it since you hit stuff or have to steer/paddle very often. Cool rafting adventure, Hunk Finn would be proud !

These fellows have skills and concentration. Such sweet beauty.
This looks like the most awesome experience. The raft puts anything we ever built in a rafting activity in Scouts to shame! How long was the trip for? Did any of the lashing come loose at all?
Ahh.... How will I ever complet my video by canoe down the river, It will newer be as butiful as this one...Really nice work
Absolutely beautiful i love it thanks guys
Blessed is this country we hold so dear.
Beautiful! Thank You
I wonder how long a raft like that can float before you have to to pull it out and let it dry up again. I guess it depends on the type of wood.
this looks like something you would do if you were a eagle scout with other eagle scouts. well done
Epic. What knots where you using to tie up the raft?
I Like How Their Survival Style😊!!!
Absolutely awesome video! Always a dream to raft a river and live wilderness, thank you for the great video!
Take a trip to Sweden, that will cost...a lot...the trip on a raft for a week will set you back with 450$...To go by only Canoe cost 160$
Wow, what a great adventure!
Did the same thing some years ago.. It was AMAZING!
DMAN!!! One more "structure" I have to build for my bucket list......that list is starting to sound more like a job for a manual laborer!
I'm wondering if this would be legal in the US, not sure how to register a raft like this. Would be a really cool way to spend a weekend.
Stunning and Fantastic Cinematography.
Nice! Really nice! Perfect place to be. Very satisfying. Thank you for sharing. 😊
I wanted to make one of these so bad as a kid and just set sail on a river somewhere. I was a big fan of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Great job.
