That sounds mad!!! That airtec is beautiful. Would love to hear the BOV and Airtec together. Perhaps too boy racer? But can’t get enough of that flutter!
Hey mate, mine is a mid 2019, and I had the same sound as you with the airtec, so I was septical that I got a BOV or not. Turn out I had one, I replaced it with a Turbosmart open BOV unit, and it sound mint, when you go over 4000RPM and let off the throttle you get a mega PCHHH + Stututu. If you want to check if you got a BOV or not it litteraly take 2 mins while the car is up in the air, there is a video on youtube that show how to instal a turbosmart unit, it's litteraly the easyest thing to find.
Cheers.
Thought these mushroom type filters are actually detremental to airflow due to heat soak. Interesting to see what the dyno says when you compare them. Again, keep up the good work. Really enjoy your honesty and hard work here.
To be fair I wasn’t sure on the air temps. I’ve been back to the rolling road this week and the air temps are lower than with the Mountune intake.
@@G5MAV did you ever get the results for this
@@G5MAV what happened to your mountune airfilter and box? Are you selling it?
Good choice 👌 take the sound deadening cover off the inside of the bonnet, it sounds even better 👍
Don't, you will suck more hot air from the engine, resulting in less performance
@@shartak5020 not noticed any less performance with the mods I have done , only better
You can't notice a loss of 5HP, but aloss is a loss
@@shartak5020 then get vents fitted 😉
Did you oil the filter? They come dry from Airtec but I think these foam filters need to be oiled as they are actually RamAir filters.,,,whats your take on this
Hey, been liking your videos I have the same but in magnetic grey. Do you have to use the mountune airbox with their map? I was looking at buying their map with the smart flash but I don't want the induction kit with it I was going to get an airtec like yourself.
Hey
You don’t have to run the Mountune air box with there map. I would go with the Airtec intake as the look and sound better.
What type of maintenance is needed with the filter? to clean? Or do I need to oil it?
After picking up my black mk 8.5 ST on weds rhis week lookikg at rhe Airtec and mountune induction kit. Theres a massivw difference in price with mountune carbon induction kit though. Seems pricey. How would you compare the two. ? Any advice appreciated.
@G5MAV I've got the same kit as this, weird question, but when you installed your hose how far does it seem to push down onto the pipe at the back, mine only seems to want to slide over the initial ridge, but looks like it should go further, if you get what I mean!
Also watch out with these because the little screw next to the hose can sometimes rub and cause a hole in the piping :(
Hey
Yer I had mine come off a couple for times. I did manage to get it on a bit more by pushing it harder. Also yes Ive noticed that my pipe has been rubbing, I’ve put some wear prof tape where it was happening.
@G5MAV I know this vid is from 3 years ago but I've just fitted this kit to mine today, regarding that small screw, what tape did you use? Self amalgamating? Don't really want to be cutting the screw down if I can help it
Hey, that Sound is ver satisfying but I think it's called turbo fluttering which is not good for the Motor and the turbo as I heard. Does it make sense?
someone in the st forum apparently works at ford and said it has a specific purpose but he cant tell us why (company secret). But in my mind if they ripped out the bov in newer models it must have a purpose. Less turbo lag maybe? dunno
I have a 2018 model and mine does not flutter the same as yours so they must he set up different, but I'm not sure the difference yet
The 2019+ MK8 ST models come with an updated BOV, sounds completely different (more of a flutter as opposed to a dump sound)
Are you selling your old moutune induction kit amd ceuk Red hose?
You able to put up a link for this airtek system.
How to clean this Filter ? Form Airtec
Can't decide which to go for, Ram Air =£150, Airtec =£138 + primary hose=£190 or Pro Alloy =£250.
I can only comment on the Airtec as that’s the one I have. If you have the newer ST (late 2019 onwards) then the sound of the Airtec is really good.
@@G5MAV cheers, mines a 69 plate, did it come pre oiled or do you need to spray some on the foam filters?
What bov you using? Gfb vta?
I haven’t got a bov on the car. Because mine is a 2020 model it’s been changed from the older 2018/2019. I believe mine recirculates now, that’s why it sounds like it does.
G5MAV nice!! I have a 68 plate so i think i need to get one with my ramair kit probably
Yer you can get a bov from puma speed. If you look at the bottom of there listing it says only for 2018/2019. (Something like that). If you like that sort of sound then it’s worth getting one.
Shitttt , what have you got on that ?
Had any dtc’s after install?
No dtc’s as yet. Only on the rolling road but that’s normal.
