Hmmm I dont think I have ever had a pushrod tube seal leak with no sealant. at least with the latest version of the seals. But using a little sealant never hurts anything.
but don't the pistons come in such a way that the arrow points towards the distributor head? at least usually in other cars, i.e. forward towards the pulley

Marvelous. I improve my level of knowledge in English and VW air cooled engine the same time. Gretings from Poland, Europe.
Lol... glad you enjoyed the video! 😀
Always nice to see it in long block form. 👍
It sure is, feels good to be moving on this build. Thanks brother!
your vids are really good bro
Your a Natural and you share your mistakes
really cool
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the video. Chingon 👍
Appreciate the support
nice work Jason, and yeah after market stuff can make it or brake it.
great to see how that long block is coming together.
Thanks 👍
You put the tins on cylinders backwards. Thats why you had to modify them. Look in the service manual.
Lol... yup I already caught and fixed it. Wasn't fitting well either direction but I got it sorted in the end. Appreciate the support brother.
Thanks for the video bro
You bet
i think you may have put the air deflectors may be installed upside down i think the short tabbed side was supposed to go by the block
Good Stuff! ✌😃
Thanks brother!
@JW Classic VW sure thing, this is good content !

Lots of ways to build these engines for sure. We all definitely have are own way of doing things. Thanks for the visit Mike!
Thank You!
Any comment on buttons?
VW Daren doesn't like them. I put them in my last resuscitation.
Don't have any real experience with them.. but if Darrin says no then I'd go with that.
Was having a thought what runs cooler a rail bug,,,baja bug,,,sand buggy or a full bodied car with all cooling tins
Have no idea man
Yep , bent one of my pushrod tubes, how did you know 😳
Lol... I put my deflector tin in backwards... 😆, it's allllll good brother. Live and learn.
Jason, what do you think about using “Super Cooling Tins” on this 40hp motor ?
I don't have experience with that set up but I wouldn't recommend it. With a standard fan shroud setup I believe the deflector tins work best.
Miks F'n Garage swears by cool tins.

Pistons do normally have a directional arrow that with Air-Cooled VWs points toward the flywheel.
ok
