    People complain about the dumbest shit in RUclips comments of tutorial videos. Excellent work as always. Love your videos, very informative and you immediately follow up all descriptions with actual examples. Good teaching is priceless. I'm just surprised to be learning so much from someone across the pond, being from Pittsburgh I had expected better lessons from the champ city! Thanks again.

    Your videos are great. I started ice hockey yesterday and stick handling is my weakness. I also got my new pair of skates sharpened and now I can't stop, but I watched your other video on that so I need to go public skating now and practice skating on my sharpened skates rather than blunt ones.. Lots of stuff to do, loving it. Thanks.

    Another thing you can do with stick handling drills is to move the puck back and forth with your head up not looking down at the puck. Feel the puck on your stick. Feel is very important. The more your head is up the more ice you can see finding players and also helps you from ending up on your ass. Good video I enjoyed it.

    Another great vid chris as usual. Just a quick question if I may. When I try to practice my stickhandling with my "outside" stick, the blade doesn't come into contact with the ground, only the heel does. Am I holding it wrong or is it too long as I'm not wearing skates. Many thanks in advance.

    Got it sorted, many thanks. I just cut a couple of inches of my stick now the"lie" is perfect. I cut my wooden (Reebok 3k) stickhandling stick an inch or so more than my game stick so i can stick handle wearing trainers. Again many thanks.

  • @MrEyeskel

    Most things are correct here, although 2 things. the heel of the blade is the most stable part to handle from especially when on the side of the body. Closest and flatest part of the blade, and you should always be in an athletic stance and shifting your weight around when handling to properly mimic when on skates. And for best result have a stick which has been cut down about the height of your skate blade and holder, Eg if the you main stick is at your chin while on skates have your off ice stick cut to ur chin without skates. This will allow proper muscle memory. :)

    Im a 30 odd year old man from the UK and I’ve always wanted to play hockey, what is the best way to start or am i just too old now?

    • @jollybeenz
      @jollybeenz 2 года назад +1

      Not sure if you’ve had any help with this. A lot of rinks in the UK hold an Adults Hockey Basics course that takes you from no hockey skills through both skate and stick handling skills. If you have a Planet Ice run rink near you, check with them. I’m starting the course at the Hemel Hempstead rink in January. If your local rink doesn’t offer the formal courses, a lot of them will have casual puck and stick sessions as well as adult recreational teams. The teams run the entire spectrum from no skills, non checking pay the fee and play all the way up to you need to try out or have been former pro level.

    Could anyone offer advice/help? Whenever I stickhandle, my top hand is drawn towards the side of my body instead of infront of it. Also my stickhandling is much worse when I stickhandle with both hands infront.

    That’s wrong, when you stick handle on your backhand your supposed to have the ball/puck on the heel of the stick I’m friends with a guy who was on the Washington capitals. He said that was correct.

      Stick length is personal preference and I'm using the Dangle Glove which is a stickhandling training tool. That's why I have one different glove on (mention at the VERY start of the video).

    • @nickc6399
      @nickc6399 10 лет назад +1

      What position do you play that you need that big of a stick. NHL defense men don't use that big of one. And how tall are you like 6ft? The stick should be cut to at least your nose or a little bigger for defense men.

    • @kellenbrennan6992
      @kellenbrennan6992 9 лет назад +1

      +Nicholas Capizzi with skates my stick is to the top of my head, I have a way harder and more accurate slap and wrist shot, I can steal the puck easier, intercept passes easier and juke easier, the only down side for my is breakaways since it's harder to hand the puck under your body since the stick is big. but for the most part it works for me, just had to do some adjusting and getting use to and it made a huge benefit in my game. has far as handling, you won't be able to do datsuks style but instead jagr and kovalchucks style of (keeping the puck far from your body) stick handling

    • @kellenbrennan6992
      @kellenbrennan6992 9 лет назад

      +Nicholas Capizzi I'm 5'8 and added an inch buttend to my stock sr warrior. When you buy a new stick try 3 inches higher than you normally go and see if it works for you

    • @aaronwhite1786
      @aaronwhite1786 8 лет назад +4

      +Nicholas Capizzi Did you miss that personal preference part? That means unique to the person using it, and what they like.
      Why are you trying to tell someone how to keep their stick?
