Honda generator idle doesn't seem to be working. It turns out to be a dirty sticky carb. Watch me struggle to clean this carb. Please check out my other helpful video and thanks for reading this.
It is great when you find a youtube video that exactly describes your problem and then shows simply, yet precisely, how to fix it. Thank you.
no problem and thank you for your time.
I would never have worked out how to get that pesky little spring back in without your help! Many thanks. :)
Thank you 3wheelsgood. I'm glad the video was helpful to you.
Hi Home Garage. I've meticulously cleaned all the jets and had the carb ultrasonically cleaned. Generator starts first pull, runs fine for a couple of minutes and then runs very rich and soots up the spark plug. I've checked all the air inlets and airways for obstructions. I am now pulling what's left of my hair out! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
3wheelsgood thanks for the comment again. Just to make sure but you're not running the engine with the choke on? If you've cleaned the carb and not completely satisfied with it there are some inexpensive ones on Ebay. Its definitely worth a shot.
Great instructions. Fixed the problem on my EU2000i. Throttle was stuck in the full open position. Will make sure and run the tank dry before storing the next time.
thank you Loren Wilson
Great video my friend, this just helped me fix my eu30is machine - exact problem, and as simple to fix too as the 1000 you showed - took 15 minutes start to finish and 5 of that was getting the spring back in. 😁. Earned a sub from here in Australia. 👍
Thank you for the comment and the subscription. I appreciate it
Great vid ! Lol it’s 3 in the morning , just been watching RUclips all night
Thank you. I can't watch all night anymore. Enjoy your time.
I bet this is my issue! my 2000 lacked that classic whistle and seemed to be running on high like the Eco mode made no difference. It also idled a bit rough and drank a tank of gas in 3 hrs with no real load. Thank you. Tomorrow I am taking this apart.
I hope it works out for you and thanks for the comment I appreciate it
@@HomeGaragechannel this fixed it! That flap was sticky as hell. Shot some carb cleaner and lubed with WD. That spring mechanism is tricky to get tucked back in.
@@infinityphotorob I'm glad you got it fixed. Thanks for the update
Fixed my 1000. Thank you!
you're welcome David Karey for the comment I appreciate it.
Thanks ! That fixed my problem 💥
Thank you Ron Davis for the comment. I appreciate it.
My Honda 2000 was idleing rough thank you I done what you Sayed and it fixed it thank you
Thank you Dale Smith for the comment and you're welcome.
Thank you you solved my problem
Nice work and thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Thanks mate, got my shit working
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it
Need your help with the ECOMODE not working. I tried what you instructed but did not fix my problem. Some people said it could be the eco mode motor on top of the carb, so I bought a brand new carb on ebay and put it back on but still did not work. I wonder if there's another thing you can recommend for me to check. Everything else works and starts on one pull. I'll appreciate any help. Thanks.
OVERVIEW: It was working fine when I first bought it USED, but being a diy person, I cleaned the carb, changed the oil, cleaned the spark arrestor and walla--the eco mode is not working and hasn't worked ever since.
Thanks for the comment and the question. So when you ordered the new carb it came with a new motor on top of it? If so then the problem might be with the eco switch, wiring, or circuitry.
@@HomeGaragechannel , thanks very much for the quick response, I will check the circuit continuity and switch too. Anything else I should check while I have it opened?
@@user-sf9mh1ms4q not that I could think of yet. Please let me know what happens.
Thanks again!
Any time!
I have a ngk 6000 & im not sure if im sopost to leave the idling on or off
Thanks for the comment. Just leave the idle off and I wouldn't worry about it.
With my generator the governor drops the revs to a point where it stops producing output current. Currently I’ve disconnected it. Not sure how to adjust it so that it will run at high enough revs
You have to be careful because if you increase the engines speed too much then the engines connecting rod might break. You will need a tachometer to see what the engine's speed is.
@@HomeGaragechannel with the governer disconnected the RPM is limited by the throttle stop screw. Is that what is supposed to happen when you turn off the eco throttle on the control panel?
@@julianporter5 The plastic screw that's on the top of the Carb is the Idle set screw. It sets the slowest speed the engine will maintain. The Electric governor should have full control on eco mode and full run under load.
@@HomeGaragechannel there may well be a fault with my unit, but with the eco throttle disconnected electrically or physically removed, the unit runs at a speed set by the throttle stop screw. This corresponds to maximum clockwise rotation of the throttle. When the eco throttle unit is connected it rotates the throttle anticlockwise and the speed drops. It’s not what I expected to happen but that’s what I see.
@@julianporter5 at this point it sounds like you know more than me about it's operation as I haven't done that extensive of testing on it.
My honda 1000 idles and puts out 110v but won't accelerate when under heavy load? Is that a governor problem?
it could be or a "logic" problem with the board. To be honest, it may only need to idle when it close to the max output.
It did should be posted last Friday, it’s avfew days behind ...
You are correct. Very busy schedule this year. Been posting later than usual.
DO you by chance a video where you work on a Honda Generator where it starts and runs but doesn't idle up under load?
no I don't but it sounds like you have either a bad governor motor or whatever controls it. It was the white plastic part in the video.
Is that an expensive part?
@@shanesimpson8076 I'm having a hard time finding just the electric part but the whole carb was less than $70 on amazon so No it's not that expensive.
I was also told by the seller;
“There seems to be and issue neither of them are producing power not sure why I think it’s because they are not reving up”
And when asked if they start first pull, he said;
“One dose sometimes the other one takes a couple but starts”
@@shanesimpson8076 unfortunately I wouldn't feel comfortable buying them unless they were insanely cheap. A generator that doesn't make power is like a mower that starts but doesn't cut any grass.
