I'd be the first one to say that paying upwards of £30k is a lot for a car...! However, I've just gone on the Skoda configurator to price up a near-as-I-can equivalent Kodiac 5 seater - with 19" alloys and DSG auto gearbox - and the price comes in at £31,665, which is only about £1k less than the Enyaq with 19" alloys and an auto gearbox. @@jonathantaylor1998 I can see what you are saying Jonathan but for EV's to go mass market they need to be sub 20K which I think will happen due to the Chinese.
@@garethedwards2883 For the private new car market, it's not an issue - monthly costs are lower once you take into account fuel costs (not how I've bought my cars previously but lots of people do). It's more of an issue for second hand car buyers who often buy with cash rather than finance. The monthly cost calculations can still work out for them, but they'd probably have to take a loan to do it. The difference is their money would go to a finance company rather than an oil company. Make your own decision about the relative evils of those two! Changing from a cash purchase to a finance purchase is a much bigger change of mindset and not something everyone would be willing or able to do.

In Italy you can have an Enyaq 50 too and all three models - 50, 60 and 80 - can be had in "x" - i.e. 4WD - version. Besides, you have at least 3 different trim levels for each motor size.
I took an Enyaq for a test-drive the other day, never noticed any issues with breaks, the acceleration was also sufficient. It was a pity to give it back...
No one puts wet umbrella in tight hole. (That's what she said). Seriously, I had that feature in a Nissan Pulsar GtiR. Never used that umbrella holder.
Just a comment about the drum brakes on the back - that's a good thing believe me. I've owned an e-golf for the last 4 years and had to change the back brakes twice because they rust to bits from lack of use (I live in Bergen, Norway where it rains a lot). Unless you drive all over the place braking extremely hard, the back brakes don't warm up enough to dry out properly. It's quite a common issue with EV's here. Having drum brakes, mitigates the problem, as well as the fact that the Skoda is a rear-wheel drive, so all of the regen braking force is coming from that axel anyway (unless you have the 80x, which might also take regen from the front - not sure on that one).

Hi there. What about data as where are they built, the time it takes to charge them up, the guarantee, or a "real life" range test. Thanks for the insightful review. Cheers.
Although you say both versions of Mustang go further than the Enyaq, lets not forget the small battery version in Mustang is only 7kw smaller than the larger Enyaq, but only provides 17 miles for range than the small Enyaq Battery. Therefore Enyaq is far, far more efficient based on these figures.
At £32000, it's not at all an "affordable way" to switch to an EV, it'll be years before they're "affordable". That being said, I'd like to see an update on your used Nissan Leaf

Q4 etron better than both for me. Looked at both when looking but ultimately when you spec up you are looking at 45k ish, lot of £££ for a Ford and a Skoda. Plus the Skoda looks a bit MPV to me, don’t know why. Back is a bit strange. Ford looks nice in black though.
Considered the Mustang but boot isn’t big enough for me. Complaints about ride quality put me off too. Don’t mind the design other than the bike reflectors stuck on the wheel arches.
I really like the Skoda. A sentence I never thought I would write. They did right what most brands don't... give the car awesome looking rims. I believe the Ford is a bastardisation of the Mustang badge. The just call it a Mustang so they can charge for for it.
Rory, the larger the tire, the more comfortable the ride; the lower the tire profile, the harsher the ride. That's not a conundrum, because the larger the tire and the higher the tire profile, then the more comfortable the ride. From an engineering standpoint, automobile suspensions are governed by the spring-mass-damper system rules. Otherwise known as suspension settings. This is why my Tesla Model S Plaid was personally optioned with really high profile wheels, strictly for a more comfortable ride. If wheel profiles are kept the same, then larger wheels will result in more comfortable rides, contrary to your assertions. Overall, I like your videos, and I'm a big fan. But, get the engineering and intuition correct going forward. In an unrelated matter, and for what it's worth, the Korean word for the car company is a bastardization of the badly translated word Hyeondae, wherein the first syllable is a blend of the words "hon" and "hone", and the second syllable is a slightly off-syllable blend of the words "day" and "die", commercially written as "Hyundai", but somewhat pronounced "Hyeondae". The Americans, your overlords, are more correct in this instance😛.
Not sure I agree with you, pal. The Skoda was running 235/45/21 tyres. The Ford was on 255/55/19. The car with the larger, lower profile tyres was more comfortable. In my experience, with identical profiles, larger wheels will usually be less comfortable due to greater unsprung mass compromising the ride.
@@AutoTraderTV Rory, ignore car company tendencies. In general, the more expensive the car, the more the engineers are tasked with fine tuning the suspension. It's why six-figure sports cars have magnetic ride dampers. You own a sports car (the Ford Mustang, I believe), put higher profile tires on your Mustang (keep the outer radius on your mustang tire rubbers the same), and I guarantee the ride will be much more comfortable.
Let me ask this question cos right now am wondering if these go to MOT after 3 years. And if they do go, what do they test cos there's no emissions to measure?

Wow that mustang's interior looks like a 3 year old nailed a laptop to a shelf.
Looks like a KIA as well.
Isn't that a compliment? Kias these days look absolutely amazing.
@@Raven16691 I'd far rather have Kia.
Having driven one, the mach e is actually quite nice inside. Preferred it to the Q4, which is quite busy
Yes I like.. Up market of course.. Yes MR Reid you have done it again.. The range is on par.. I no longer drive like a teenager.. Yes definitely worth a look in.. Well done Mr Reid once again you sir doing the biss . 💯 %
Skoda all day long……👍💪🇮🇲
I love my Mustang Mach-e gt it’s so fun
Q4 etron better than both for me. Looked at both when looking but ultimately when you spec up you are looking at 45k ish, lot of £££ for a Ford and a Skoda. Plus the Skoda looks a bit MPV to me, don’t know why. Back is a bit strange. Ford looks nice in black though.
I like the Q4 more as well. The biggest blow to the platform that also includes the Volkswagen ID4 is that they don't have a front boot.
@@snakeeyes9246 yes its incredibly annoying and they could have packaged some space better.
Considered the Mustang but boot isn’t big enough for me. Complaints about ride quality put me off too. Don’t mind the design other than the bike reflectors stuck on the wheel arches.

So many EVs these days 👍🏻👍🏻
I really like the Skoda. A sentence I never thought I would write. They did right what most brands don't... give the car awesome looking rims.
I believe the Ford is a bastardisation of the Mustang badge. The just call it a Mustang so they can charge for for it.
4:15 a mask that gives you the ‘vid 😂
Rory can you please do a Mustang Mach e Vs Tesla model y review
"The car is never gonna be icy in the first place" We're not all watching this from the UK, Rory!
Let me ask this question cos right now am wondering if these go to MOT after 3 years. And if they do go, what do they test cos there's no emissions to measure?
Skoda I'd get if I could afford a car
Skoda= the more reliable Volkswagen
Awesome presenter.
Presentation 👏
The entry level Enyaq is very basic. Once you add in the necessary options and larger battery, they are much the same price.
We really need the EV6 vs Enyaq test
My new Mach E just 4 months old with 2013 miles only , I’ve waiting for it to go back to Ford as I’ve rejected it, it’s the best long range one
But most times at 100 % full I’m getting 210 or 212 miles! Shame because it is a lovely car! But not paying £58000 for 210 miles!
Which Enyaq iv model?????
80
Never saw Rory this angry 5:05 😉
Drum brakes - VAG still needs to save money because dieselgate?
Drum brakes make sense on a non performance EV.
@@Simon-dm8zv I thought that as well, then I heard Rory not being happy about the way the enyaq brakes. And it makes sense, it's a heavy car. I think that VAG should use drum brakes on the Fabia and Polo
Still fixing dieselgate problems
You know you watched a good car review when you didn't fast forward or rewind to watch all 13 minutes in all their glory.
Mustang for me! I think it has more personality! Very interesting comparison and excellent presentation, as always! 👌
I sat in both and for the money the mustang has cheap and not very nice interior
