The curved edge of the ice scraper is just to break through a thicker layer of ice. Once you can get under the ice, flip the back boy round and use that flat black edge. It’s the best ice scraper I’ve ever had, providing you know how it use it…

Indeed - hold the curved bit and use the rubber sides - they'll go through different thickness. I think it's a 10ys old design but then again ice is even older

The only thing I don't like about the ice scraper on this car is the location in the boot, on my superb, it's on the back of the filler cap cover and much more convenient but as others have said it works really well, not sure why I keep reading reviews that say it's awful

I can't believe Rory couldn't work out how to use the ice scraper! Use the black edge Rory, it's actually really good! Other Skodas store it in the fuel flap but obviously that would just get nicked whilst charging on the Enyaq, so they've moved it to the boot lid. It's also got a tyre tread depth guage on one corner. Simply clever!

@@Yelonek1986 Because when you put it away having used it, any ice still attached will melt. From either the fuel flap on all other Skodas or the tailgate on the Enyaq, any water will be outside of any seals and can drain away. If it's in the drivers door, then the seal would keep the water inside the car, which is undesirable.

The blank screen is a known issue for the VW group. Happens in my Arteon all the time and the dealership doesn't want to acknowledge the issue. Carplay also disconnects frequently. I have a workaround that doesn't envolve turning the car off and back on: press and hold the power off button on the infotainment for 10 seconds. Not until it shows the clock. No. Just press and hold depressed and after some 20 seconds, the entire unit reboots and it is back in action. At least until it happens again.

Hello from Norway! Rory you are the autoking of the motor journalists. Bought the Skoda Citigo 18 months ago as a cheap runaround, we live on a mountain farm 23 km from the nearest shops and the missus had a 60 km working commute. My good lady has astonishingly covered nearly 20 K km, the wee Skoda has saved us a bunch of krona, now we are both pensioners we are looking to swap the Citigo for an Enyaq, after they have fixed that screen and we need the AWD for winter. Most impressed with the Citigo, a fantastic little electric that gives us 270 km per charge in summer. Keep up the great reporting Rory, you are always worth it! PS when the going gets rough we have an old Toyota pickup, and for long journeys my 1991 200D Mercedes gets us, slowly, to our destinations. Keeping it simple! Cheers, Alex.

We've had this car for a year, having come from a 335d I've not missed the performance. What I've gained is size with the same quality, the screen froze sometimes in the BMW too, when it's hot inside it's likely to freeze. I've had over 4Kwh just about every time I drive it between Apr-Oct yes in the cold it's more like 3kwh.
Not fussed about public charge costs so long as you're not doing over 250 miles a day. I've heard people say when we go to France or when we go to Devon.... That's not every day is it? I'd recommend an EV and this car particularly especially if you have off-street parking if you are reliant on public charging and do distances then perhaps EVs are not for you right now that said you can charge often over 100kw now so again but an issue.
The main thing is that Skoda have got it right, he's right you get in it and it's easy to drive and like you've been driving it for years.
I'm looking to change cars and take advantage of salary sacrifice with my new job and I don't think for the money I can get anything better. Perhaps the EV6.

I love when reviewers talk about range because it's SO relative isn't it. My 2016 Zoe does about 70 miles of range in Winter and 90 in Summer, so I can't use it to visit my parents who are a 1.5hr motorway drive away but I can commute to work on the daily and do all my local runabout shopping etc without a worry here in South Manchester. I also recharge it on my driveway and that's usually every other day.
I DREAM of a car which does 215 miles at WORST. Most people focus too much on range when they will rarely need to drive 200 miles on the daily anyway. Of course, value for money is the actual factor. If you can get more range in a comparable EV for a similar price then the Enyaq isn't good value even if 200 miles is more than enough.

@@Locost59 It depends on the spec/ battery size that you want. I couldn’t have an bought an ID.4 equivalent to my Enyaq IV60 at all (VW didn’t do that battery size). The Skoda is also more configurable with a huge options list. I feel like they’re just trying a lot harder than VW atm.
Ultimately though it’s all down to personal views/ likes/ tastes. As a friend always says, it’s a good job we’re all different!

@@andrewmontague2636 to me it was that VW required you to have horrible black tinted windows if you selected the panoramic roof. Skoda allowed separate options but adding up the boxes it cost more.
In particular VW included essentials like heated washer jets (no engine to warm them). Skoda charged quite a bit for them.

@@chruth1986 I sold my helicopter prior to buying the Yeti but I do think it is possible. The Yeti is an amazing piece of kit. Mine is now 10 years old and still impresses on every drive. The Skoda enyaq is great and luxurious for money, even though it's not an expensive luxury car, but I think it's time to bring electric estates and saloons into the game. SUVs are too high drag coefficient and unless saloons and estates are made electric, EVs won't achieve better range. Skoda boss did explain in December 2021 that they will by 2024 look at introducing electric saloons and estates because they don't want to be an SUV only company like most manufacturers!

Worth buying? After 14 months and over 14k miles with a 60 I would thoroughly recommend it. We got 3.1 m/kWh on the coldest winter days (max potential range 180 miles) and a steady 4.0 m/kWh in the months June to end September (232 miles). Yes the charging infrastructure is expensive but we’ve only needed it twice and for minimal top ups. Octopus energy Go tariff 5p /kWh (7.5p for new joiners) for four hours during the night means we’re paying between 1.25 and 1.7p/ mile. It’s saving us over £2k a year and, due to the shortage of even second hand electric cars, is probably worth at least what we paid for it (£35.5k after £3k gov grant) even with 14k miles on the clock. And everything Rory said about how great it is to drive is true. We’ve had no software issues. Just a reversing camera that is useless at night - common problem.

    • @Alzinho147

Everything you said Mark. Except I've only done 9500 miles and have averaged 3.8 miles per kWh. And reckon I could sell mine for several thousand pounds MORE than I paid for it (£31.5k). Not that I would....best car I've ever owned in 45 years of motoring.

  • @Orbit353
    @Orbit353 2 года назад +1

08:00 Ref WLTP consumption and range: Both 3.8 miles/kWh and 329 miles range are correct. WLTP consumption is measured based on power draw from an AC outlet/charging station. To drive 329 miles, you will pull 329/3.8 = 86.6 kWh from the electricity grid. Only 77 kWh is stored in the battery (and used during the drive), while the remaining 11% are charging losses, mainly conversion losses in the onboard AC/DC converter. The in-car consumption is shown without such losses, so you have to drive with 329/77 = 4.3 miles/kWh (shown in the car) to be on par with WLTP.
Having a more efficient AC/DC converter would reduce the WLTP consumption, while the claimed range would stay the same.

In winter, the 4x4 sport 80 range is close to only 300km, which is just ridiculous.. I hope that in the future the range would have to be informed in motorway speeds as well.. Many people would be surprised. It's a big car, and the wind resistance is massive in speeds around 120km/h. Great car if u don't drive long distances.
