I know this drummer has been with him a long while and he's very competent and solid. Nothing to complain about. But Liberty's heartbeat and impact on all of these songs is so sorely missing.

Pretty prophetic song Miami 2017 is! Although there was no nuclear war that sank Manhattan out to sea causing everyone to move to Miami we sure did have a lot of crazy things and civil unrest start to happen around that time!

Yeah, he had to get surgery on his back and the pain was so bad that he lost his appetite for a long while 😥 hope he's alright
I remember as a teenager in the '90s wondering if Billy Joel's prophetic song Miami 2017 would come true.... then about seven years after hearing the song 911 happened and I began to think as it was happening if he was right but ahead of schedule? .... OR was 2017 a point in time people looked back with nostalgia about a world where the lights were bright on Broadway before the war? I would love to learn about the background of the inspiration for this song.... it predates Y2K even!
I remember seeing an interview he did on Australian TV years ago. He said he wrote it when New York was in danger of going bankrupt. Presiden Gerald Ford said, "New York can go to hell." So it was about a post apocalyptic New York.
