    dont blame them for the story man they had to switch so many times, gave nomura little to no team, then switched nomura out for someone else, and removed versus 13 from its universe, put it into its own and said make it work 😭😭😭😭 tetsuya nomura gave versus13/xv his all and he really loved the project, he wrote somnus himself and was so devastated over the loss of versus 13 he put noctis in another game ☠☠they also announced the game wayyy too early

      Well, we have to blame SOMEONE, don't we? lol But really, the story is not to blame. It's like I said in the video, if you laser focus, it's pretty straightforward. The problem is not the plot itself, it's the way its key elements are presented (or simply not mentioned).

      You're right, but don't blame Tabata for that. He was handed a project that was going nowhere, had his whole team put on a crunch, and when the higher ups at Square realized they'd have to pour more money for this game to have a cohesive narrative, they decided to do a "smarter" marketing trick by splitting it up into multi media. So Tabata was left with the task to create a open world game that's somehow plot focused, but then also the plot isn't allowed to exist haha. I really love XV, i just beat it yesterday and the DLCs. It's a great game, but super flawed because of the nature of its development. Wish Tabata made a new game, cuz type 0 is my favorite ff game, and XV is awesome, and could have been perfect if the circumstances were right

    I've heard from other reports that Luna had SO much more to do in the story, but Square cut a lot of it because (from the sound of it) she got kicked around quite a bit and they were afraid of some kind of backlash about how she was treated on screen (please don't blame feminists, or sjw's or whatever. Im sjw scum myself, and I would have liked to see it if it made a more compelling story/conflict for the characters. Most of my woke-ass colleagues agree). Another part of the plot was going to be that Noctis had actually killed Luna before the beginning of the story, but had no memory of it. That was supposed to be why Lina's bro hated him so much. I don't know when in development that got cut, but it must have been pretty late since that twist is still represented in the "Omen" trailer (which is a total work of ART!)

    • @randomgamingramblings
      @randomgamingramblings  Год назад +6

      Oh, I don't doubt that in the slightest. From what Tabata has said in interviews, the devs were afraid of having long, tightly scripted scenes in the game as they wouldn't fit an open world RPG game, and all Lunafreya segments were exactly that. I find that especially funny considering that huge western RPGs of the time like Dragon Age Inquisition and The Witcher 3 did have long scripted scenes, so I don't know where they got that idea from.
      I guess an easy solution to that would have been to have Luna be playable with a small crew alongside her, like Jesse from Breaking Bad and his chubby friend on the Kingsglaive movie. We could sometimes "cut to Luna" like we cut to Laguna in VIII, for instance, with her party members dying one by one until she arrived alone in Altissia. Oh, well.

    After I finished FF VII Remake and Rebirth, a friend recommended XV to me.
    And I have to say that 15 has grown on me even more than any other role I have played.
    I love the open world, the combat system (I don't use wait mode), and I don't even need to start with the Regalia.
    And the OST gave me goosebumps.
    Especially “Apocalypse Noctis”
    When I think of FFVII's graphics, the first thing that always comes to mind is the Midgar wall JPG.
    In the 15th everything is “alive” up to the horizon and the day-night cycle also brings dynamism.
    And I also particularly like the little things, like Noctis getting dirty from fighting and fishing or his hair no longer looking neat because of the rain.
    I also like the dynamic between the guys better.
    In the 7th, I'm particularly bothered by the whining and pushy nature of Tifa's character.
    The story of 15 is a bit confusing, I don't want to contradict that, but since I know all the media or am close to them, I can understand the connections.
    The story of 7 is largely known, but now the changes complicate the story for players who know the original.
    As for the linear chapters after leaving Altissia and reaching Insomnia, FF VII Rebirth is no exception.
    Nobody complains about that either.
    And I really liked that there was an opportunity to go back in time, for example, to take a breather before the journey with the brothers came to an end.
    And I really enjoyed doing that again.
    Since Zack has been my favorite FFVII character since Crisis Core, I'm of course very excited to see how he fits into the whole story.
    All in all, I'm really looking forward to the third part of the 7. But the 15 will probably remain number one for me for the time being.

    • @randomgamingramblings
      @randomgamingramblings  8 дней назад

      That was a good read and some compelling points! I haven't played FF7 Rebirth yet to compare both open worlds, but 15's open world was among the best things about it, so 7R has definitely some big shoes to fill.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts about FF15. I watched a bunch of reviews of FF15 last year, when I finally buckled down and forced myself to play it. I'd purchased it on release in 2018 (the Windows Edition came out about two years after the console release) and I made several failed attempts at a playthrough. By the time I was compelling myself to play it in 2022, it had been updated to include the Royal Edition features.
    Even with those improvements over "vanilla," I still genuinely hated the game. I'm still not sure if I dislike FF15 more than FF12, which was another very poor attempt at creating an "open" type of gameplay experience with disjointed storytelling and uninteractive real-time combat.
    Last month, I unexpectedly got a PS5 and FF16, and I finished it a couple of days ago. I'm grateful that they didn't try to do another "open world" style game, and I enjoyed it more than FF15. But it still falls far short of what I want in a FF game.
    Crisis Core FF7 Reunion was the last FF game I played before FF16. Even though it was a remake of a spinoff game with some reused assets created for the Final Fantasy VII remake series, I was shocked at how unexpectedly good and satisfying Crisis Core Reunion was. More enjoyable than FF15 or FF16, despite being far less ambitious. It also shows a great way to do action combat in an RPG, which FF15/16 failed at.

      @randomgamingramblings  Год назад +1

      I still need to check the Crisis Core remake out. I remember absolutely nothing from the original, so it will be pretty much a new experience for me.
      And yeah, I'm glad they dropped the open world, it does not serve the kind of narrative FF is known for whatsoever!

    I’ve had this on my playlist for awhile and finally got around to watching it. You did a good job with this.
    I have a weird relationship with this game. I hated it at launch. I got to Chapter 13 and dropped the game. I didn’t return to it until this past year. With my expectations at an all-time low, I bought the Royal Edition and actually found myself having fun. I accepted the game for what it was: a flawed, tedious, rushed mess with some really engaging elements here and there. I don’t even know why, but I kinda loved it. There are some very brief glimpses into the much better game XV could have been and it made up for a lot of the bad stuff (for me personally). My mind was able to fill in a lot of blanks and imagine what the game had the potential to be, but failed miserably on. Viewing it from that perspective made me appreciate the things they got right so much more than I previously did.
    The saddest thing about this game is that it’s unfinished and is always going to remain unfinished barring a miracle. The world, characters (especially so), and the general premise of the game are all great and deserve so much better than to be abandoned after being featured in an incomplete game. Square already sank an ungodly amount of time, resources, capital, etc. into this game’s ~10 year development cycle and I’m sure they’ve made their money back by now, but I still don’t see much potential upside to them remaking FFXV as it was originally intended to be. It’s clear that a lot of aspects from the game have been folded into other Square-Enix games, and there is still some hope that Kingdom Hearts IV (and Verum Rex, if anything comes of that) or some future project will take heavy inspiration from Versus XIII and/or the original vision for XV but I’m not holding my breath. Despite getting two sequels, I wish XIII would get another shot as well.
    By the way, you should give Type-0 a try.

    • @randomgamingramblings
      @randomgamingramblings  Год назад

      Thank you for enjoying the video and for the nuanced take on FFXV! As you could see in the video, I also initially dismissed the game and now I have a complicated relationship with it. It's really hard to be objective about XV, even after the Royal Edition and all its DLC.
      As for XIII, I'm actually OK with it as is. I feel like what the devs set out to do, they did. It's just that their vision was sort of... well, flawed, lol
      edit: oh, and you're not the only one who has recommended Type-0 to me. It's in my backlog right now. I'm currently playing Sea of Stars and I might tackle Type-0 right after it. I'm curious to see another side of that Fabula Nova Nonsense, so I'll definitely check it out!

    This game is still a great game for me too. What this game nailed was the brotherhood aspect of it. This game had so much potential to be the best unfortunately it had many flaws like how luna had so little screen time, though they fixed that with the dlc. Also the party’s sidequests and backstories are all dlc. Switching characters become a thing after all dlc were released. If all those were included during release, this game would have been received a lot better despite the flaws but since many people dropped it after they finished it, it gave a very sour taste amd many people never came back. Very few people will come back to play this game again after being disappointed. That’s why this game suffered really hard and were received poorly. Biggest mistake SE made was released an unfinished game, it hurt them many people lost trust on SE for a while and even now, this still haunts SE.

      @randomgamingramblings + Square Enix needs to understand how important it is to make their stories realistic, and they need a basic lesson in genes.
