Love the cut to the South East News as every other region quickly opts out for a regional update.
I think this was during Network Nationwide summer break. The regions had their own programme immediately after the weather. I think only viewers in the South East saw interview with Patrick Moore
London and the South East had no dedicated regional news programme, it was left up to Nationwide to provide the regional news for the region. During the summer months, when Nationwide was on it's summer break, a reduced Nationwide programme aired only in the London/South East region.
Interesting Poulson story 8:26. His autobiography ended up making almost nothing, because it was quickly withdrawn amid a blizzard of libel writs from the people Poulson had named.
Fran Morrison, before a more glam makeover.

So Nationwide wasn't Nationwide during the summer.
@@rotonda4068 Nationwide would usually not air in the other regions for the summer months, and only in London/South East would it continue, only to provide regional news to that area. Remember London/SE had no regional newsroom, Nationwide did it all. In fact during the seventies, on many summers and bank holidays, the region had cartoons, Get Smart, Bewitched filling the half hour. That is how badly treated the region was. The belief was, that any major news event for the region would be on the national news, so why bother especially in the lean summer holidays.
@@rotonda4068 Yes, this would have been south east only, other regions their own programmes.
And then their big regional story is about… Saturn
@@Extreme_Rice Exactly - viewers watching hated this, which is why since 1977 Thames News was king of the regional news ratings in London, to the point by 1984 they were thrashing BBC in the regional ratings, which is why BBC launched London Plus in September 1984, their first proper effort to do proper regional news here.
