- Sir Keir Starmer will warn that the UK's problems will deepen before improving.
In a speech on Tuesday, the Prime Minister is expected to blame the "rubble and ruin" left by the Conservatives, insisting there are no quick fixes. He will also accuse the previous government of hiding the true state of public finances.
The Conservatives, however, claim Labour is exaggerating a financial crisis to justify tax hikes. They have also demanded Starmer reverse cuts to winter fuel payments, arguing they will leave pensioners "in the cold."
Dr David Bull speaks with Talk's International Editor, Isable Oakeshott.

I am a maintenance fitter moved to Queensland in 2008. I work with fabricators and welders. Plenty work out here if you know any in those trades. Easily make around in UK money £75k to £85k for what you do. I don't apply to jobs these days. I have work come to me. Pay less income tax too.

I am retired. Now 68yrs. Have paid Nat Insurance for 50yrs. Saved into a pension since I was 20yrs old and I’m now told I may lose the state pension. Leaving me worried and stressed as I still have a mortgage and family to support. Is this how my Government should be treating me? No. It is shameful. There are many many people in this same position.
Thank you for your 30 years support of the system that takes from the citizens, let politicians give it to their friends as tax grants......

There is literally nothing nowhere to indicate anyone is going to lose the state pension. It will likely be that people in future won’t have one, but there will be a cut off. Stop being silly.
Also, anyone who worked the last 20 years firmly knew that to survive you needed to have an additional pension to supplement. Even a small amount of investment through workplace pensions, or investment, would have helped. Anyone who was able to do this and didn’t is experiencing poverty to their own doing. Totally unavoidable - the main caveat here is that we do not get financial education until it’s too late. Teach finances in schools

I was sure that Labour would be worse than any other party, and I warned the people around me. The real issue is the new generation of misguided left-wing supporters. Unfortunately, they vote for Labour no matter what policies are on the table. One day, the pension scheme will collapse because many young people can't hold a job beyond the probation period. They seem to believe that doing superficial activities online will provide them with a lifelong income. Sure, a few might succeed that way, but they are a tiny minority. Big reset is brewing.

Train drivers only drive trains. They are not responsible for running the network.
Because just upping the pay of train driver's obviously isn't going to directly improve service, blame the lack of investment from the government(s) on the networks over the last 14 years. Add to that the private sector who have done 0 investment into the service and ofc we're not going to be performing well. All's to say that it's not the fault of the drivers for wanting pay that is fair to them.

Supply and demand. Job agency fees (if they ever go through an agency) is a one off. Why have governments not encourage people living in the Uk to have children and then train those children to be workers? Who is directing these policies?

Unfortunately Stalin is like the Devil ruining this country. I have lost £300 a year fuel allowance😖but I turned it around and applied for Attendance Allowance and now I get £434 a month so I have turned the tables and come out the winner😀👍🏴
I’ve applied for pension credit and should be granted it. If they hadn’t removed the winter fuel allowance I would have been happy with what I had. I think they’ve scored an enormous own goal.

Any child taken from those boats should automatically be put under social services supervision. No decent parent would put a child in that danger

Watched a clip on an ex soldier doing the crossing after visiting the camps and said it was 99 percent fighting class males that were making the crossing .
The children are only put on the boats to ensure that the rest of them get picked up and get to our shores safely.There's no way a boat will be turned away if a woman and child are on board.
