I agree with you on Antigua & Barbuda, that 5-day requirement is a non-starter and could be a big problem in some circumstances.

When you recommend Venavatu make sure you don't recommend it to Australians.
The ATO has their eyes on Venavatu like a hawk, and you do NOT want to fuck with the ATO they are one of the most brutal tax collection agencies in the western world.

I suspect that these options might be weighted differently if we consider potential tax implications, either in the way of additional tax liability or complete avoidance. Always subjective, nonetheless.

    • @GoodlifeInvestor
      @GoodlifeInvestor  5 месяцев назад

True. Favorable tax options would mostly be residencies and not citizenships. Not many would go and live on tiny islands to save some money. At least not the wealthy.

    • @NSAKEY

@@GoodlifeInvestor Perhaps. In the case of US citizens that are willing to renounce, the zero-tax benefit that some citizenship-by-investment programs offer, would allow the renunciant to recoup the donation fee rather quickly, depending on income. Living on a tiny island is not a requirement in all cases.
And since some US citizens may be subject to double taxation while working abroad, it would certainly fall in line with my previous comment that the weighted benefit of such a decision may be entirely subjective and relative.
Couple this with the associated challenges of establishing overseas banking as a US citizen, as well as the over-reaching regulatory measures that prevent Americans from earning a living through various investment vehicles, I think that the probability that there may be more willing candidates than you initially surmised may not seem overly unreasonable.
      Cheers.

Why not Turkey over Jordan or Egypt? Same location, better price point, more livable, etc.?

    • @GoodlifeInvestor

I knew someone would raise this question! Glad you did. I know it sounds unfair but,
Procedures almost changing daily, fatf grey listed, not much use of English (compared to Egypt), falling cur., overall a lot of uncertainty - this was good earlier,
Having said, may work for some people still.

Totally agree,Turkey laws keep changes so fast and also fatf grey listed, not to mention heavy taxes on worldwide income and very beurucratic😢😢

I would not recommend Vanuatu to anybody. Its more trouble than good. A lot of banks in the EU refuse to service Vanuatu citizens.

I have a feeling malta is going to off the cbi market very soon. EU is trying very hard to clap down on cbi options. The Estonia option might be there since its an indirect option and not everyone qualifies for it

If I had the money then malta for sure. Otherwise argentina is the one I would go. Great passport for travel purposes just don't live there long enough and can have a separate residency for taxes(paraguay, dubai or Mauritius)

it is upto country of malta. it is malta choice to give citizenship not eu. and malta is very hard to get. in 2021 the case is going against malta but still it hasn,t closed. don't think of closing because the government has said we are not going to close program some of there minister have said this. there are lot eu country you can get passport with less physical presence requirment like portugal,netherland.bulgaria,etc. so obvisouly malta won't why would anyone close if they get wealthy people. and if close take permanent residency and take another eu passport.
