    Great country, great people, food can make you fat really fast tho. Also it's a really small island, but there are good amenities (super u supermarkets etc..). Good news is you're in Dubai in a heartbeat. But it's still like south Africa. It's far from Europe if that's your thing. But there is a daily AF flight which also opens more options.
    Also many people have been resident on the ground for a long time and that works well, not sure about naturalization easiness.
    Tax system is OP there so that's really nice.

    Is Mauritius still offering the $500K fast-track citizenship option? I was reading some sources that stated they offered a 2-3 years path to naturalization if you increased the investment.
    I'm currently working on South African citizenship by descent but it's a big uphill battle. Mainly due to the history of the country documentation can be seriously shoddy. I'd been researching banking solutions in Mauritius as a compliment to my (hopefully) eventual SA passport, but RBI and possible naturalization options in Mauritius' are also very interesting to me.

    • @GoodlifeInvestor
      @GoodlifeInvestor  Год назад

      Yes they may have such option but it’s not that popular because no dual citizenship for naturalized citizens allowed and also physically residency requirements are quite strict. Not many are interested in living there two years straight.
      Residency is nice cos it’s flexible. Ps: in SF attorney makes a huge difference. Like they can push for an order beyond certain time.

      @@GoodlifeInvestor I thought the restriction on dual was waived for golden/fast track visa applicants. I guess I misunderstood. Living there for 2-3 years is a non-issue for me. Thanks for the info. Residence is still interesting, for sure.
      By "SF" do you mean South Africa? I've got a law firm working on my case (best in the country on citizenship issues relating to pre-1990s - they were part of the advisory committee that helped draft the new citizenship & immigration laws in the early 2000s). Nonetheless it's still an uphill battle. Certain aspects of the legislation are unclear or have loopholes due to failed foresight at time of drafting... It is what it is. Descent claims are rarely ever straight forward when human rights abuses are in the mix - it's nearly impossible to preemptively legislate around rectifying every single aspect of how multiple generations of people might be affected by past unjust policies. Hoping my case might help set some precedent so that in future others won't have such a difficult time reclaiming what's theirs.
