    I have the exact same problem with a 1979 EZGO 3 wheeled 36v electric golf cart. 6 new batteries new forward reverse switch new solenoid. It worked most of the time with no issues other times you had to play with the F/R switch then one day going down the road it just stopped... im thinking the motor is bad I have tried testing it and Nothing!!! I came across plum quick motors online and I think I will be putting the Bandit in it. Anyway great video

      I just pulled mine apart and found a wire melted off inside on the S terminal. Probably a easy fix but I want to upgrade anyway.

    the safety part is seldom metioned if you are working on a no go problem useing a jumper cable to test this is rare butit can happen if you happen to put jumpper cable in right spot its gonna run into somthing eather forword or reverse so i jack up rear wheels off the floor on blocks i can test with out it moving you can see wheels move when you hit right spot.

  • @jsmith3999
    @jsmith3999 3 года назад +6

    Problem lies in low voltage. B+ and M- is putting out only 34v. Remember this is a 36v cart. Nothing works under 36v.
    Also pedal box (black and white) was only 10v whereas that signal should be over 12v... Every small wire is a 12v system. Large wire is the 36v power system. Get the batteries charged to over 36v so you can test it properly. As is, you're chasing your tail...

    If your electric golf cart won't go, try pulling the accelerator pedal backwards. Sometimes they stick. We replaced the solinoid, bought a new charger, new run/tow switch and then was shopping for new batteries when one knowledgeble young man suggested that. It worked!

      Yes, sometimes I get a false signal from the foot pedal sensor and have to unplug one of the wires before turning it on and then plug the sensor back up to the controller.

    Great video. Not much information or people doing any videos on the older ezgo carts and there are still a lot of them out there. Thanks again for the in depth testing and time you took to inform us. We need more of these older ezgo fixer videos. Mine is a 92 I use for Sporting Clays tournaments. Getting ready to install a Lithium Ion 36 Volt battery. My led acid expensive Trojan days are over especially when they give a 11 year warranty. ✌

My guess is the Brushes need to be replaced, but likely we will never know. Thanks for taking the time to do this video, It has been very helpful. Going next door to apply some of your observations.

    I have a problem with my 1992 36v golf cart not going. Seems like the solenoid is stuck on and is always letting current in. Also, I don't see the varistor on your controller. I'm still trying to figure out what happened but it seems like when the varistor went out it blew out the controller since it no longer had protection from in rush voltage.

      Did you find a wiring diagram for your cart? I have one from the same year but I'm not sure the wiring diagram I have is the correct one. If you have time to reply: What does your Buzzer look like? I can't find the Buzzer on mine unless it's the metal Delco-Remy item next to the solenoid labeled 866-12v. I've put power to it, but it only clicks, doesn't Buzz. Also, where do the two leads coming off the Key Switch go? My wiring diagram says to put one lead to the Common terminal of the Micro Switch closest to the Key Switch and put the other lead from the Key Switch to the top post of the F/R Switch.
      Would be great to share some info with you if you've got time and interest. Thanks!
