Thank you for this! I've been watching your other Gaia videos and got confused on some parts just because of the new updates. I'm super new to this software and this video is a great help.
Nice update Matt! I had no idea the update changed the privacy settings so especially big thanks for pointing that one out. Really enjoyed your Gaia class at OoA.
Hi Matt, great video. I hope you don’t have any crazy fans out there, you just gave them the coordinates to your house and location. Gotta be careful. I did a simple google earth search and saw your house with the trailer sitting in the driveway.
im curious if you know anything about the 2016 USGS layer. I was under the impression that you can see the vegetation type of an area. For example if Im looking for aspen and conifer forests that intersect?
I use GAIA for route/trip planning and keeping track of where I have been. If I need specific details about individual trails I use Trails Offroad because I prefer their boots on the ground philosophy - trail waypoints with photos and descriptions for obstacles and other info like camp sites. Along with the trail difficulty voting system.
Just getting back into using GAIA. When I open GAIA on my iMac using Safari or Chrome (latest version, location services are on) when I select the "my location icon" on the map it zooms to my location area but there isn't an icon arrow symbol showing my my exact location as there is when using Gaia on my iPhone. Any thoughts or suggestions would by sincerely appreciated.
The icons along the bottom of my mobile (L-R): Map; Trip; Home; Saved; Settings. I have created a custom map on the web. I cannot figure out how to navigate it on the mobile. Not intuitive.
Sorry to ask. What do you find better on OnX? I asked a question and he didn't see it. I have been using GAIA and was able to find great camping but I'm not married to it. Some people like iPhones others Android. You don't have to explain much, just 1 thing you like best. Gracias.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventuresThe recent cost hike was just icing on the cake. Worse product at a higher price? No thanks. OnX has been treating me VERY well. I’m a part of their “Trail Guides” program and have been submitting trails in the Ozarks. I can’t stress enough how far Gaia has fallen off. It’s sad.
@@Muffduster you didn’t say what’s wrong with Gaia other than $5 a month being too high for you even though OnX is more expensive with half the features.
You like to film yourself. Calculate the minutes you have recorded yourself. You only need to talk and present things on the screen, not your dyed hair and tattoo. Another problem is that you speak too fast and a bit nervously (maybe because of the camera). It's not a problem for me using the new version of GaiaGPS, but for the people you need to introduce the Gaia software. I recommend that you re-record this video and keep in mind that we are not interested in your dyed hair and arm tattoos.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures If you don't care about my comment, there is no need to retype my comment. Why are you worried and asking me to make a retype. You sound like you're threatening me !?!? 😂

Loved the doggie-snores in the background :)
Great video. Thanks Matt
I found the Gaia Overland layer from watching your past videos. I didn't even know it was added at the time. So, Gaia news or whatever would be nice.
Gaia had an entire email campaign announcing the new overland layer. lol.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I was probably too busy to be bothered or it got buried in emails. lol, Thanks!
Thanks Matt. Your Gaia videos are always very helpful
Glad you like them!
Hi Matt, awesome video. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Matt. Thanks for this. It makes it easier to use gaia.
Happy to help!
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
This is the first time that I’ve seen your Silver RUclips Creator Award. Congratulations on that huge achievement. Well deserved! 🎉😊
Awesome! Thank you!
Thk you Matt.

I've used that layer in the past but don't remember any vegetation info on that layer.
Hey Matt. One answer i can't find. If I already have a route how do I add a stop along the way?
I use both Gaia and OnX. I find using OnX works better for the places I go to especially with difficulty labels.

I’ve been having issues sharing tracks after the update. Share link will not create at all

There's no GPS in your browser for it to pinpoint your location. That's only in the mobile app.

Not sure what you mean by “custom map”
You finally sold me. Now, how do i get your 25% discount to work?

Where does a person get Gaia Swag ???
direct from Gaia.
Gaia isn’t worth a flip nowadays. It gets worse with each update.
I’ve made the switch to OnX and wish I’d done it sooner!
Mine has gotten better and better.
