Couldn't agree more! it exactly my first thought when I saw this reaction video. If you think her studio vocals were incredible you ain't seen nothing until you watch her performance from Welcome Home Hero's. Also her medley from the 94, arguably the greatest most epic Whitney live performance.

she was just otherworldly you don't achieve what she did by just being great, she was outstanding. she changed music for all genres forever. you can always trace it back to her through any artist to be honest
She does, have very control of her vocals!! Another person to try is Regina Belle, she is another diva with power vocals!!! She was the one doing the duet with Peabo Bryson, the original track of Lion King, “A whole new world”.

First there was Rosemary Clooney, then Doris Day, then Patsy Cline, Karen Carpenter, Barbara Streisand, then Whitney and Adele is our current day songbird. During Whitney's solid run she was dubbed The Voice. Out of all these superstars Karen Carpenter had the most range, lows like Rosemary and Adele's to near highs like Barbara & Whitney. Patsy's run was cut short in a plane crash.
On an interview made to Aretha Franklin , she was asked about what she thought about some artists , one of those names mentioned was Whitney Houston's , Aretha without hesitate said : She's is singer !!

If you truly want to see/hear Whitney at her best, watch her singing live especially during her prime vocal era (1986-1995/1996). You need to hear her version of the national anthem. By far the best in the history of America. After 9/11, it was re-releases as a single. It hit #1 on the billboard charts. All of the proceeds of the single release went to the victims fund. Still brings a tear to my eyes now.

I'd be curious to see your reaction to her LIVE in RAW form, like when she sang "A Song For You" - just her, a piano, sax, and a lot of improvised vocals. I heard you say in a different video that you haven't heard a live video of Whitney. Her version of of star spangled banner at the 1991 superbowl is the most iconic superbowl moment. The main reason I do videos first is because if I do the video first it stands on its own and warrants a later live video for comparison and analysis... yet if I do the live version first and everyone thinks it’s the best version no one will likely care about the later reaction to the video, and I plan on always reacted to both versions of songs I love :)
