Whitney Houston the best singer that ever walked this earth. Clive Davis said that. By the way. They are coming out with a movie about Whitney's life coming in Dec 2022. Called, "I want To Dance With Somebody" Get your tissues out. She is so loved. Suppose to be fantastic. New movie trailer is out now . Clive Davis searched a year to find the girl to play Whitney. That was hard. Whitney was so powerful, and beautiful. But he (is) using "all" her vocals because no one, no one can sing as "great" as Whitney Houston. She was a gift from the Heavens. She had it all. Thank you for playing Whitney Houston. She truely is and always will be the best singer that walked this earth. It's great to see the younger generation discovering her.

What you are witnessing here is part of an iconic moment that may never be repeated again the way this country is going. In August of 1990 Bush Sr. launched Operation Desert Shield also known as the Gulf war. By January '91 morale among troops was low and there was a lot of resistance to the war. In January '91 Whitney Houston performed a flawless rendition of the Star Spangled banner at the superbowl. A few months later she wanted to go oversees to perform and show support for the troops, but the war had ended. She instead decided on this concert to welcome the troops home.
For a brief moment, Whitney Houston brought this country together in a way that no one expected from an African American RnB singer. People who were wronged by this country fell in love with this country and even factions of this country known for racism were singing her praises. It was brief moment in time, but not the first time Whitney transcended racial barriers. React to something from her first album and I'll tell you the story.
As for the Star Spangled Banner superbowl performance. It was so popular that she released it as a charity single to raise money for the families of combat soldiers during the gulf war. We've seen her amazing soul through her music but she also had a very big heart.
This is a facebook video because I cant remember the title of the youtube video. Here Whitney sang 3 of the toughest songs ever written back to back and pulled it off flawlessly. This is undoubtedly the greatest award show performance I've ever witnessed. This is legendary in a way that makes you realize how much is lacking in today's music. We were so accustomed to this back then that this great performance is rarely cited for its greatness.

Literally NOBODY tries to sing like Whitney. And I wish yall stop tryna push that narrative. If you think they’re tryna sing like her, you probably just think they sound great. And it’s okay to say that bc there are some phenomenal singers out there. Nobody tries to imitate her and by this logic, she’s tryna sing like Aretha. But we don’t agree with that right? Exactly

I love this tremendously. I also love her rendition of the Donny Hathaway classic, "A Song for You" from the same show. You can tell Whitney abides by the mantra, Go hard or go home. She killed this. Jack, if you get a chance, please please please do "Nobody loves me like you do." It is her duet with her brother, Gary Houston, a rare one from 1985. Her voice is super strong and she hits a few notes that surprised me. Also, I have to commend you. Not only are you playing the music that you like, but you may be exposing some of your fans to music they may have never heard of. This may, by extension, cause them to go out and support some of these artists (financially and otherwise). And some of these artists need more support than others. Thanks.

No doubt, she is Whitney Houston "The Greatest Voice of All Time". Many called her as "The Voice" and NO QUESTION FOR THAT. Guiness World recognized her as "The Most Awarded Female-Act of All Time". In every report of who are the best singers of all time, she's always in the list.
"If not the best, probably one of the best singers of all time"
    - Aretha Franklin
"The Greatest Voice of All Time"
    - Baby Face
"No one could beat her during the past decades (her prime) , not Mariah, not Celine."
    - Dianne Sawyer
She also influenced some of the greatest legends and to be legends soon such as: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, Brandy, Jessie J., Christina Aguillera, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande and many more

Youngster, if great soulful music is your thang, check out Lisa Fischer 1991 live How Can I Ease the Pain.
    You are welcome in advance.

I suggested he check out Lisa Fischer too! I saw Luther Vandross in concert and of course she was singing background for him. She had recently released her solo album with "How Can I Ease The Pain" and Luther had her as an opening act. She tore that song up and the audience went crazy! She is a vocal beast...definitely not to be toyed with!

@@curtismichael4703 I had a chance to see Luther Vandross in concert, when Lisa sang with him. It was amazing and Luther always had his background singers dressed to the nines, which complimented him. I also got a chance to see Lisa on the Netflix documentary, "20 feet from Stardom." Its so sad that she didn't make it bigger, but at least she won a Grammy along side Patty Labelle and did background singing for the Rolling Stones when they toured.

This was from the Welcome Home Heroes concert, March of 1991, a month after the Gulf War. January 27 1991, ten days into the Gulf War, she performed her iconic rendition of the Star Spangled Banner during the Super Bowl XXV for our troops deployed in Operation Desert Storm.
