Bravo! The 4 excellent trumpets and the fine rhythm section ... and I admire the mutual admiration you transmit in each one of the rest. Affection, respect and fellowship ... VERY important!
That was absolutely terrific guys! Thank you much for playing from home. It is greatly appreciated. I can't but think about our dear friend and fellow trumpet player Wallace Roney who lost his life to Covid. RIP Wallace. Hope to see you all at Lincoln Center soon. God Bless!
Thanks for identifying that solo! I knew I recognized it from something by Miles, and that it wasn't from his recording of "Walkin'." It would have driven me nuts until I figured it out if I hadn't read your comment.
I never get tired of Walkin' it always makes me feel refreshed in body and spirit, energised for the day, more so when my perambulation is conducted by some of the most distinguished guides around the field of jazz.
Genial!!!
I LIKE JAZZ ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT IS VERY EXPRESSIVE AND REQUIRES A LOT OF IMPROVISATION. I THINK THAT FROM THIS STYLE ALL THE VARIATIONS OF FLAVORS AND COLORS ARISE. !
Done! It's Miles Davis' solo off Straight No Chaser, with some harmonies added in two spots. So there's a transcript here, for instance. ruclips.net/video/xLfsQSpefbA/видео.html
Miles Lives, ✌🏾 Thanks Marcus. No pretentious out Playing! Does any serious Jazz Trumpet Player need to read this Miles Solo. It is a must for every jazz trumpeter just like West end Blues. Great Anyway.
Hey guys, these I suppose is engraved in parts and then pasted, right? Because the delay would not allow you to play together in real time. yes? anyway, excelent.
Please, can a tech savvy person explain what what software or device enables folks to perform and record something like this and not have problems with a time lag? ... and still get a great sound?
One way is overdubbing: On a #livefromhere quarantine episode (4/11) Chris T. explained that there is a master recording to start it off, and then the others record their track listening to it to stay synced up and pass it on. They create a new file with another "layer" added. Depends on the group i guess as to which one is first.
Wonderful music. But one comment about the video itself - please, please don't cut away every second or fraction of a second. It's unwatchable. Let the viewer choose who to watch or, at least, leave each player on focus for a reasonable amount of time.
Every time I see Ryan Kisor he's got a different horn :-) and they ALL sound amazing
It looks like he is playing a cornet during his solo -
@@homzymusic Yeah, it reminds me a bit of the custom trumpet/cornet hybrid my grandfather used to play
Swingin' all the way down the street
Peace of Lord Jesus upon you and yours

Great recording session! I love that the whole trumpet section transcribed Miles Davis's solo on straight no chaser and use it as a trumpet soli'.
Thanks for identifying that solo! I knew I recognized it from something by Miles, and that it wasn't from his recording of "Walkin'." It would have driven me nuts until I figured it out if I hadn't read your comment.
Thank You Sooooooooooooo Much !!

Marcus Printup came locked and loaded!
Dan rocking a suit like a normal gig - does he sleep in one too????
I never get tired of Walkin' it always makes me feel refreshed in body and spirit, energised for the day, more so when my perambulation is conducted by some of the most distinguished guides around the field of jazz.
this is on my list of future transcriptions, the whole thing seems a great lesson on this tune, every second is gold
Damn, I recognized the Miles solo after not hear it for over 50 years! "Walkin" was one of the first LPs at had at age 16.

It’s particularly great when the trumpets break out of unison into 4-part harmony.
Awesome...just Awesome! What else can you say! Good stuff!
Awesome! Thank you so much for putting this together and sharing it.

what order do you guys record these in? bass, then horns, then drums?? bass, drums, horns??
Hey guys, these I suppose is engraved in parts and then pasted, right? Because the delay would not allow you to play together in real time. yes? anyway, excelent.
I don't really understand what you are asking, but they played the parts separately and then put them together with editing
What kind of horn is Ryan playing?
Please, can a tech savvy person explain what what software or device enables folks to perform and record something like this and not have problems with a time lag? ... and still get a great sound?
I've been wondering the same thing. Been seeing everyone using this "technology".
One way is overdubbing: On a #livefromhere quarantine episode (4/11) Chris T. explained that there is a master recording to start it off, and then the others record their track listening to it to stay synced up and pass it on. Good to see Wynton squashing his beef with Miles.
😂😂😂

What is Ryan playing on?

Looks like Ryan switched to a Recording cornet for his solo take.
Was that an Olds Recording? I’ve got a 1959 Olds Recording Trumpet.
Olds Super
