      Plus public schools in the 1980s and 1990s would have had to refer students suspected of having a disability for evaluation. It's unlikely Donna just got a learning disability during the SAT tests. They took tests in numerous classes prior to the SATs.

      @@robinorlowski2449most public schools in the 1980s and 1990s did not have testing for dyslexia. Dyslexia was still fairly new and there were almost no resources on how to deal with it even in LA😢

    • @robinorlowski2449
      @robinorlowski2449 4 месяца назад +2

      @@laurao8099 no, it existed and the testing existed---I've been in several schools across the country in that time period.
      The law requires all students be identified and then testing suggested to the parents. An upscale public school like WBH and the West Beverly Hills School District would yes be doing this in the 1980s and 1990s.

    • @robinorlowski2449

      Donna's dad is a doctor and doctors across various disciplines do socialize with each other and talk. So he probably had some idea of what a learning disability looked/could look like.
      What would have been hard is getting the support information and information re rights under law--bc this is pre-internet era They'd have to write away for brochures, fliers etc and hope the address they wrote to was current.

    • @robinorlowski2449
      @robinorlowski2449 8 месяцев назад +1

      they were around back then---which is why this story line makes zero sense. Any public school would have had to contact Donna's parents if they suspected her of having a learning disability. It's a bad storyline since Donna was attending public schools in the 1970s and 1980s when there was also special education (it started in 1975). Really unlikely that she has dyslexia only in high school.

    • @robinorlowski2449

      I had an IEP when the show was in high school years. Information was harder to find bc stuff was not easily on line yet--but it was there.

    • @robinorlowski2449
      @robinorlowski2449 7 месяцев назад

      also since Donna is a minor (she turns 18 last high school year) she can't sign for her own IEP. Mrs Teasley would have had to call her parents Donna could (again bc she was in high school) attend the meeting with her parents and the school but she cannot just be diagnosed etc without them knowing.

    Yeah I don't really understand how Brenda and Kelly just expect on him to spit out her SAT scores and act like it's the same it is for everybody else when she's dyslexic and struggles in ways that they have no clue and they don't seem to be interested in having a clue she goes through or how they could help or be supportive

    "Donna decides to become a bad girl": "bad girl" for smoking?. I am Spanish and USA was "advanced" some decades in this kind of "morality". It is interesting when Shannen Doherty had problems with Spelling and cast Aaron Spelling changed the plot and became the "pefect" Brenda Walsh in a smoker. It isn' trivial: Spelling wanted Brenda to be a more and more hated person gradually and started with this triviality, then Brenda have conflicts with their parents.
