There’s nothing twisted about the story, everything they said is the truth.
They had no right to go in on David, Kelly, and Donna like that, but I ain't mad at it. Most of the criticisms were accurate to the fault and mostly about their parents. It wasn't said in the nicest way, but the way they all behave stems from how their parents raised them, neglected them, or spoiled them.
They even predicted Kelly's future
yes & to think that now in order to speak the truth one must remain silent.

Illegal. And they worked with what Brenda blabbed to them.
In a twisted irony, the presenter was right. Especially about Kelly's true nature

I don't think those phones had the redial feature. That came around the later 90's-2000's if I recall.

This is one of my least favorite episodes. It was very clear that the writers and the cast didn't like shannen/brenda. I know it's just a show, but something about it felt real, and it bothered me. Also the way none of them will let her tell her side of the story. They just immediately assume the worst.

What would've been nicer is if he had talked sense into Donna and Kelly and told them to at least listen to what Brenda had to say because it maybe it wasn't Brenda's fault? But yeah, sure, let's just have everyone believe that Brenda is evil. I do think she was probably wrong to talk to that reporter about her friends' personal issues. However, she did say really nice things about all of them. It wasn't her that twisted everything around! And if that's what her friends really thought of her, they didn't deserve her friendship! Can you tell I hate this episode, lmao.

This episode aired during the golden era of syndicated tabloid "news" shows like A Current Affair, Hard Copy, and Inside Edition. They were so trashy but I watched them religiously when I got home from school. What a time to be alive!

Ironically they all have lived in Beverly Hills for most of their lives and Brenda has just been there for a year or two and they expect her to know that the news broadcaster is going to twist things. They already know that those News broadcasters twist things
