I have dyslexia and this is exactly how I felt all through high school. I wasn't diagnosed until after high school. But I have a PHD and two other BA degrees . You can do anything if you work at it.
There's no such thing as a learning disability, only a poorly designed methodology that doesn't address human diversity. Everybody learns differently. I don't want to make the system limit the children's limits.
I have a learning disability and have now a Masters in Psychology and working on my Ph.D lots of teachers discourage me especially in high school. Only one was different I owe him. ❤
People used to hate Brenda because she was forceful and nosy, but I actually love her most days. She really cared about her friends, which is more than I can say for many of these characters. Where was Kelly during this? In her own world. She never stuck up for Donna ever. I remember when David cheated on Donna and Brenda was there for her and Kelly told her Donna it was her own fault for not sleeping with him.
I have never heard that anyone hated Brenda, on the contrary, she was adored, like her couple with Dylan. Brenda probably the most positive character: a kind, honest, intelligent person with an open soul, always ready to help everyone, this is exactly what Kelly pissed off with her bitchiness.
@@Dana-dj7lmoh yes, there were many clubs "I hate Brenda". Shannen said that Brenda's character caused her problems due to the hatred that BH fans threw at her
Not really. In the 90´s people got more aware of mental disorders and autism. ADD and ADHD and also depressions. I was in high school in the 90´s and we learned all about it. At least here in Sweden. Perhaps not so much in america
I have high functioning Autism but I graduated from high school with honors and an Associate's in Liberal Arts with a Concentration in Theatre and a Bachelor's in English with Rhetoric and Communication. Don't give up! You can do anything you set your mind to!
I love that they covered such issues in a show in the 90s. Also, Tori Spelling is convincing, she plays well here, it is so sad that she is now just treated as the worst actress there ever was and Nepo-Baby. I liked Donna. Though of course I mostly identified with Brenda.
I have a learning disability and I’m into fashion and styling women’s hair. I especially like leopard fashion. I especially like to style my moms hair and dress her in stylish outfits and swimsuits
I had a learning disability and did poorly on the SATs but was able to get into a good college because I studied hard and got good grades. They did not give me extra time when I was in school.
That seems odd to make it through 12 years of school and then 4 years of a bachelor's degree with all those cumulative tests, then by grad school "oh I have test anxiety". Everyone is anxious during testing. I'm not sure it always qualifies as a disorder.
It breaks my heart how kids who learn differently feel like they’re stupid. It’s true now so I can only imagine how it was in the 90s before we knew a lot of what we know now.
I thank the Lord EVERY day for my life, the drs, said I couldn't about to ANYTHING or have ANY kids, I have 27 yr.old son and 2 grandkids,ANYTHING is POSSIBLE
I wish I had this kind of academic accommodation intervention when I was in high school, let alone elementary school. I have a reading comprehension disability and combined ADHD, on top of a host of mental illnesses, and all weren’t diagnosed until I myself pushed for assessment as an adult because I was so fucking fed up with not knowing what was wrong with my brain and why I kept failing out of courses/post-secondary programs. If my school counsellor in elementary were half as compassionate as the principal in this show, instead of giving me extra time without caring enough to dig into the underlying issues that make me need extra time, I would’ve actually thrived in grade school and known how to study for post-secondary and manage time.
1 /3rd of the left side of my brain is DEAD, COMPLETELY ATTRIFETED!( I had a MASSIVE STROKE when I was 15 &a 1/2 mos.old, I am sopose to be a vegetable vegetable,
Wait why didn’t anyone in high school tell me we didn’t have to have a time limit on the SAT lol I was in high school around this time lol giving away my age
That's a good idea, if you can answer multiple choice questions visually, I say why not ask? I would think that would be more difficult, myself since I have a hard time remembering 3 or more things at one time.
I weird thing happened to me. I have a joint master's degree in international law and economics with a GPA of 3,8 from a university with an excellent reputation but and I did all my work writing manually. When I type on a keyboard I am severely dyslexic and I wonder what would have happened to me if when I was at university I had had to use a computer. I also wonder whether I have developed dyslexia over time. Here is a joke I find funny: what did the agnostic, insomniac dyslexic do? Tossed and turned all night wondering if Dog exists.
if she is the principal, they'd have a diagnostician delivering this news to Donna. And it would be done after her parents' consent to testing. A principal does sit in on meetings for an IEP/504 but no they would not be telling the student themselves they may have a learning disability. This was a very badly done episode. It was obvious the writers/Spelling had no idea what special education was.
I always really liked the woman portraying the principal. Sadly the actress, Denise Dowse passed away last year.
Sadly the actor who played Nat did too. He was 85.
😢😢😢😢
RIP Denise Dowse. She was in Insecure too.
I liked her too!!!!😊
I loved her in bio dome
This principal is a Rock of Gibraltar. Intelligent, strong, fair, and a heart of gold. Love Mrs. Teasley.

I had a mild stroke in 2016 and sometimes I have a speech impediment.. makes me feel absolutely stupid 😩
You are not! ❤️
Having a learning disability doesn’t mean you’re stupid ❤
thank you❤
I agree!!!😊

There are too learning disabilities I too struggled with tests in school I had a individual education plan
True.
I can relate to Donna because I got a disability myself and I love fashion. Donna is my girl ❤
I right n there with i have a learning disability and i have fashion degree.
I have a learning disability and have now a Masters in Psychology and working on my Ph.D lots of teachers discourage me especially in high school. Only one was different I owe him. ❤
Now that is high praise motivation and guaranteed superb succession indeed 💯💯💯💯💯
Wow congrats. I have 2 degree. Not a doc. But i have a fashion degree and sociology. But i do deal with a learning disability..n it is hard.
Donna was the only character on 90210 who I could relate to. Her religion and virginity were handled so well!
I am disappointed that she's still compromised that before marriage but I loved that Donna would hold to her values and not waver

@@natalie651I thought they hated her in real life 😂
She was a great person and she didn't take shit from anybody . I also like donna for he kutzpuh
I remember in those '90s teen magazines they portrayed Brenda/Shannen as a villain while Kelly/Jennie was supposed to be a saint. I didn't get it.
@@Dana-dj7lmoh yes, there were many clubs "I hate Brenda".

This is pretty advanced for the 90s
Expecially for the diagnosis... today it requires tests, moths, certificates...
A lot of the show was ! But only the first 3-4 seasons it failed miserably as a second Melrose place later
Right! what a rip off they just gave me speed and told me to behave and do better

It DOESN'T matter if u have a learning disability, just be the BEST and do your BEST

I feel Donna’s pain because I have a learning disability
Right with you 2..
I can relate to Donna I have learned disability It was tough for me in school

I have a learning disability, and i turned out FANTASTIC!!!!
I can relate to donna l have the same thing a learning disability too,its very hard

I worked VERY HARD, and I TURNED out FANTASTIC

I can relate to Donna, l have a learning disability also and its been one of the hardest things I've gone through, l don't like it
Tori was my favourite character on the show Donna was very sweet
I must’ve missed this episode, I didn’t realize what test anxiety was until like 2012 when a friend in grad school had it
That seems odd to make it through 12 years of school and then 4 years of a bachelor's degree with all those cumulative tests, then by grad school "oh I have test anxiety". Everyone is anxious during testing. I'm not sure it always qualifies as a disorder.
Having a learning disability, doesnt mean u are dumb, that means u just have problems in some area.
Brenda was more of a friend to Donna more than Kelly ever was. I remember one episode in season 4 Donna had told Brenda she was her best friend.
I have a learning disability, and I turned out GREAT
Thank u, I just have to BELIEVE in my self
I know thst God Does
She has a learning disability because she has test anxiety.

Everyone learns and processes information different mom of a IEP student who excels in school with her accommodations.
I think it may happen if you stress yourself out too. Not necessarily having a condition...
I had this in school by the way.

A lot of students have learning disabilities and it's a gift not to be stupid to have a way of being smart 🧠
Everyone learns at their own rate
Donna is very fortunate!!!!!!
I wouldn't categorize it as a "learning disability".
People with disabilities get diagnosed by a doctor, and have proof on record.
Those shoulder pads are something else.
Donna i have ADD so im with you girl!
Donna it’s not that bad I have learning disability
I loved brenda and andrea character on show
No good principal or teacher would ever call the students dumb.
Wait why didn’t anyone in high school tell me we didn’t have to have a time limit on the SAT lol I was in high school around this time lol giving away my age
“Donna Martin Graduate!”
I wonder why she stick up her metal finger at Donna
I feel like I have the same learning disability she has 😅
DMV needs to watch this video clip. The DMV written test is for people who are written test taker. What about people who are visual test takers
That's a good idea, if you can answer multiple choice questions visually, I say why not ask? I would think that would be more difficult, myself since I have a hard time remembering 3 or more things at one time.
No such luck here in evil Australia!
Donna Martin never should have graduated.
❤❤❤
Women that look like her don't have to be smart

Brenda is a drama queen. Jumps to conclusions.
Donna diagnosed learning disability but could go arts school August 2-32024
Always liked the principal Donna in trouble over college prep grades high school July 21 2024
Kelly might never been a true friend of donnas
Hmm was Torri Spelling ever diagnosed with an acting disability?
Her father got her the job
Tard
Youth problems of the 90s...🙄🙄
