- MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-core weld, and Plasma Cut all with one machine. This YesWelder Firstess MP200 Multiprocess Welder pretty much takes care of all the processes in one unit. Furthermore, you can run this machine on 110V or 220V. We originally covered all the features of the new Firstess MP200 just a couple weeks ago, and we focus this video just on the MIG and Plasma processes. We love the euro-style connections of the MIG torch, and Plasms torch seems to be made of good components as well. Right now this multiprocess welder is only available on Kickstarter, but you should see it transition to the YesWelder site after a few months.

First off I like that you covered unboxing and features in previous video. Meat and potatoes conscise coverage on what you say you would cover plasma and mig. Very thorough going thru the speed cuts on different plates sizes and the how the amps correlate to them. Like the tips on spooling wire from connector to gun and thru tips. Thank you for the excellent review.
Great work on this video man. I am very disappointed of this machine didn’t come with any documentation and people like you are the documentation. That only speaks to the quality of your video and my disappointment in them not including any kind of documents.

Are you having issues with the synergic settings preprogrammed ?? So far I tested mines on 220v using .035 solid with gas co2mix on 14ga(2mm)
steel selecting the 14ga thickness It seems to have problems welding. Not just 1 welder its both welders! But when I switch out to .030 Flux
and on 120v selecting 14ga works fine. It basically sucks on solid .035 wire on 220v ! It feels under powered on both mp200. Values displayed are not true!

This looks adequate for a starter DIYer but probably not for the an avid one. The plasma's performance seems to come a little short when cutting that steel. And the MIG does too. I was going to buy this welder but I am not sure after watching this video. I going to watch some other videos and see.
I am on the same boat, I'm too used to industrial/fabrication quaality tools and welders that I don't think this machine would work for me. Looks like I would just end up replacing it with a welder I wanted all along

Adding a second comment, similar to one below, but did not seem to be answered by the host. Can you easily and quickly get your Yes welder repaired? Just send it back to Yes, and they will diagnose, fix, replace parts, etc.? It seems they send free units out to the reviewers, and there hasn't been time to brake the thing yet, but it will be very helpful to know how easy the repair process actually is, for those who have to do it. Especially important for a 5-in-1 machine. Sorry if I missed this elsewhere. Thx. R

My concern is, yes 5 machines in one, but when that one goes out, all 5 don't work, so nothing can get done until it's fixed.

I was going to buy this until I found out you can’t control the wire speed. The only settings I want to control is amps and wire speed independently.
Is this unit for real? At this price? I was only after a basic arc welder for simple welds n 'reconditioning' old car batteries but this has got me interested with so many functions. Legit? Not a scam?

why does everyone usually skip the TIG function on these over seas boxes?
It’s DC only. Aluminum GTAW is out of the question. Maybe that’s why.

Might not seen important to you . But the reason I would not buy that tool . Is because on the output it goes from 110 to 220 . It should go from 220 then break down to the 110 . Like you started off using the 220 why should you need to use the adapter to use the 220 . I know the yes welder is trying to change this they know they screwed up .

Does the lack of being able to adjust the wire speed in the MIG function concern people? I am not a professional welder and I have only used machines that allow for wire speed adjust. Realizing this is an entry level machine, I am not criticizing, just trying to get opinions from those that are more experienced welders.
I've been in the trade for 14 years and have spent the last 4 in manufacturing doing MIG welding (previously did iron working/structural welding and custom metal fab for 10 years) and personally I would never buy a machine I couldn't adjust the wire speed. Everyone likes their machines set a little different depending on the pattern they like to run, travel speed, welding position etc. For example you would never be able to run verticle up MIG with this machine. But for a hobbiest/new welder I will say learning how to set your machine for MIG for varying thicknesses and especially dissimilar thicknesses can be challenging so there may be value there, but imo you would outgrow this machine fairly quickly.
They disguise the wire feed adjustment as amperage, just makes it a pain in the ass to tune in, but wire speed is very much adjustable

probably a great welder for someone who has little interest in welding but needs to do it in order to supplement their other trades, like a black smith who needs to melt some steel together, or a wood worker making one off pieces, maybe someone with a vehicle who wants to make their own modifications/repairs.. but if youre interested in welding and think youll be doing it alot i doubt youll be happy with something like this.. i always fall into the trap of trying to buy one thing to do the job of two or three things and it never does any of them well.. i have a multiprocess machine but its kind of meh at all the process's and it doesnt do pulse mig, it doesnt mig aluminum, or tig aluminum, its too big and clunky to be a good portable stick welder, its just all compromises.. chance to buy again id get a little suitcase stick welder, a dedicated mig welder that can do pulse, aluminum, can hold the larger 30lb spools of wire, can do dual shield .045 wire ect a tig welder that can do all materials, has high frequency starting, and lots more settings than this ect
its less money in the long run cause now im gonna have this 2000$ welder that has gotten me through quite a few years of use but really as a hobbiest these machines should last a life time or atleast until they go for a swim or a 6ft drop off a ladder.. ill be buying likely a HTP mig welder, everlast stick welder, and yet to be decided tig welder.. im pretty happy with my little 200$ amazon plasma cutter though it really punches above its weight class for the price and the consumables are dirt cheap compared to the 30$ piece ones the big manufacturers use.. im sure its no where near as good but its better than not having one
Curious: What work on vehicles are you doing which makes you think you are going to stretch this thing beyond its capabilities? What are you welding?

its not that it wont do it but its just not ideal, it wont pulse mig, it wont accept the cheaper 30lb rolls that welding shops use, it cant touch aluminum as its DC only.. ive done all the things listed with my rebel welder its a "215" but really once you hit about 180 amps output isnt an issue as youll just be doing more passes no matter the machine to weld anything 180 amps wont do in one pass basically anything larger than 3/8"
Like all products which are Value Priced, the users needs to determine whether they are in the scope of the expected user. I ordered one of these during the Kickstarter program to have a third welder in the "garage shop". My other main welder is an Amico MTS-185, which is comparable in duty cycle and voltage/current. It is a great workhorse for home-shop sized projects.
The YesWelder falls in the same category. The key differences between the two welders is that the Amico is manual settings for all the processes. I remain on the bubble on how I feel about a welder that makes it's "best guess" on settings, but generally, any welder which uses the values which are recommended on the Miller charts is not too far off the mark. Virtually ALL of the combination 110/220v multi-process welders fall short of the projected current ratings. This is typical of the entire industry, and includes Miller and Hobart products as well. For this reason, I won't pan a product that costs half as much as it's more expensive brethren.
The key differences I see on the lower cost models is simple. A $2000 220v machine will allow you to adjust the machine for your style/technique of welding (speed and weave pattern), a less expensive machine you may have to slow down a bit, and do less ambitious welding on your first pass. If that last limitation is too much to tolerate, then none of the less expensive models are for you.
I know these are new, but for such a lightweight machine, I question the long term reliability of these machines. Can anyone comment on it?

YesWelder appears to be once again falsely marketing the amperage capability of another machine. I truly wish you reviewers would actually verify the machines technical specifications so potential purchasers could make an educated purchasing decision. This machine appears to be overrating the amperage by 25% - this can easily be verified with a DC clamp meter, and if the software overrating is anything like the Mig-Pro 250 it also affects the wire feed speeds.
I honestly don't know if they are falsely marketing or not, that would be a pretty hefty claim. At the same time, I understand what you're talking about with the use of a clamp meter to verify and measure. I chose to actually use it and provide my feedback on where I feel it's best suited. This is why I stated that it's probably not good for cutting 1/2" thick steel (as claimed). At the same time, it cuts 1/4" and 5/16" pretty easily. On the MIG side, again, I think the sweet spot is at 1/4" thick and below.
I'm not trying to agree/disagree with you nor skirt the claims of YesWelder. I'm just trying to provide honest feedback. I was planning to do another part to this series using the TIG and Stick. Maybe I throw the meter on there and see what we find. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching.
Yeah, I think they are grossly overstating the duty cycle at 60% on the spec sheet as well. But for all five processes for about $500 if It can do half of what it claims on specs it's still a great deal.
@@pnorton75 ive yet to hit the duty cycle on any kind of welding/cutting equipment and i push the machines hard.. the ground clamp or mig gun or stick holder are always the weakest links.. i have a rebel 215 multiprocess machine and ive cranked that up as far as itll go both on stick and mig and sat down and welded out projects rod after rod running stitch welds down a trailer frame with 3/16" 7024 max amps 180iirc and the machine was even warm after laying upwards of 60ft of weld.. my back was wrecked and the electrode holder was baking my hands even in heavy leather gloves but the air coming out of it was still ice cold to maybe luke warm, same one mig ive done any and all weld outs on even heavy 1/2" material just welding for 5, 10, 20 minutes straight with as much heat as it can push.. i actually melted the tweco gun they supply with it and tweco sent me out a larger one to replace it they provide like a 140amp mig gun with a machine that does over 200 amps iirc... melted the ground clamp clean off it as well upgraded to lincoln ground clamp good to 250amps and no issues since
got a cheap little 200$ canadian pesos plasma cutter hero cut 40 thing and ive sat there cutting 1/2" material with it for 20 minutes straight putting a bunch of 6" oval lights into a flat bed frame it was slow going and a rough cut that needed fixxing up but it never hesitated as far as duty cycle. ive turned 10' by 30" sheets of 1/4" steel into 2.5" flatbar aswell set up a straight edge and just ripped though it slow and steady that was probably over an hour of cutting but broke up into two sessions due to the cord failure.. actually managed to melt my 10guage welding cord while doing that upgraded to 8 guage after that
honestly i can see a scenario where im running a plasma cutter or welder for more than 20-30 minutes straight and when i mean straight i mean like sitting there just feeding wire, firing sticks though it, or cutting endlessly.. there doesnt appear to be a practical "duty cycle" on these inverter driven machines they all have decent fans and airflow that keeps everything well cooled i guess and are alot more efficient to simply create less heat in the machine to begin with
unless youre doing some kind of production welding where youre shield down for 4 hours out of an 8 hour day i wouldnt worry about duty cycle, and if that is the use case youre going to be buying some swanky 5 figure price tag miller anyway

@@AndrewBrowner To be fair, "hitting the duty cycle" is not the same as having the machine shut down on over temp protection. Over temp protection is simply there to shut the machine off if whatever temp sensor they have in there reads a dangerous temp. It's just to help prevent the machine from overheating and going pop. The actual duty cycle takes a whole lot more into account (or at least, it should do on a properly spec'd machine). Duty cycle factors in things like the amperage capability of the power cord and power switch, internal conductors, the duty cycle of individual components like transformers, rectifiers, capacitors and more. So exceeding the duty cycle rating of a welder doesn't necessarily mean it will instantly shut down, but it's possible that internal components are being stressed beyond specs and maybe their service life will be reduced. Also keep in mind that the duty cycle is normally rated at a specific temperature. If that rating is done at 105 degrees F and your ambient temp is 75 degrees F, then it's very likely you can go longer than the "rated" duty cycle. But if it's rated at 77 degrees F (as one I saw recently was), and it's 90 degrees ambient, then the duty cycle would be lower than "rated."
In many cases I suspect there wasn't any actual testing or calculations done and the manufacturer simply says "60% duty cycle" because that's what everyone else does, or because it's listed somewhere on the spec sheet for the main IGBT chips used or something like that. I expect that is often the case with Chinese brand machines, because soooo many of them are listed as 60% duty cycle across the entire range, regardless of size or output. That doesn't mean they won't be fine run that hard, but it still feels a bit suspect. Particularly when I test a 120V welder that says it has 60% duty cycle at max output and I find out it pulls nearly 50 amps at max output. I'm tempted to actually put in a 50 amp, 120V circuit just so I could see the rectifier in the welder, the power switch, and the supply wires all melt after 6 minutes at 50 amps.
The point is, the topic of duty cycle is pretty complicated and I suspect there is very little testing or verification going into the duty cycle ratings of a lot of the "cheap" machines these days.
YesWelder sent me one of these MP200 machines, but it got lost in shipping. So I went ahead and ordered one and will definitely be testing all the outputs, and hopefully even things like voltage and wire feed speed. Should be fun and will be interesting to see.

This is a serious question! Does the machine suck or are you just not a very good welder? I'm in no way trying to put you down!
You see this a lot in welding videos, even on high end machines. The problem is with the camera setup. It puts the camera in the ideal viewing position, but the welder himself is at an awkward angle which makes it nearly impossible for him to clearly see the toe of the weld and the puddle. Normally when I am welding my head is down and at the ideal viewing angle, which would block the camera shot of the weld. I suspect he ran into the same problem. Most likely if you were a hard-core welder, you would have already recognized this limitation. You will also note he did not have a filter in front of the camera lens, which made the actual view of the weld (through the camera) largely useless to observe the puddle/position as well (so he couldn't use the camera view to guide his weld). He was forced to do a largely blind free-hand weld which was solely based upon "feel". This is tough for a lot of people to do.
